Lalo Salamanca's First Appearance | Coushatta | Better Call Saul
Video Overview & Insights
Nacho returns to the restaurant to find Eduardo 'Lalo' Salamanca cooking in the kitchen. His surprising appearance worries Nacho.
Lalo is my 2nd favorite character in the BB universe… Walt being 1st.

Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."
Lalo is a textbook case of a sociopath. He loves to throw his weight around, to dominate everyone around him, but he does it in subtle ways that are not immediately obvious. Everything he does in this first scene is calculated to assert dominance: walking into your place of business, brazenly cooking food there and offering you some as if he owned the place (which is the message), smiling and acting all cordial while knowing you have no choice but to play along, heck even the overly loud music just to annoy people, as if daring someone to say something. Note how Domingo is sitting there all unsure and afraid. This is a pattern with Lalo throughout the series, he likes to make people uncomfortable while acting super chill himself, as if to demonstrate the gulf between their respective emotional states. Like when he ignores Jimmy and keeps wrenching on his car for several minutes, or how he taps the fishtank glass at Jimmy & Kim's place, or how he treats his serving staff at his mansion. Always the big smile and overwhelming presence, he's basically making a show of force anytime he can get away with it, for no reason other than his own amusement and to reassure everyone present that he's the top dog.

And thus the happy match strikes the powder keg 😅

The actual chef there must have so many damned stories to tell when he goes home lol. It seems like theres always something at that taquiera.
@TheWillvossDoes anyone know the name of the song that is playing?
@obiwon76It's as if Cesare Borgia from Assassin's Creed were an actually likeable character. The writers must all be alchemists.
@DrunkenGrandMasterThe song is so iconic, I don't even understand what it means but it brings a lot of "aura" to the character
@javalavadingdongIm convinced that if Lalo showed up in Breaking Bad instead of BCS Walter and Jesse would’ve been dead in the within 3 episodes.
@obediahhinton“Don’t worry, it’s gonna be like I’m not even here”. Literally the biggest lie in the BB / BCS universe
@codysmith5602"Its going to be like i'm not even here" Okay Bro :'D
@premlinnaidoo80332:23 it's a good thing someone with a good head for numbers showed up to help the young entrepreneur
@wilgonzalez6021:27 i love how nacho and lalo are perfectly framed
@JujuboluLevel 1 : Tuco
Level 2 : Hector
Level 99999999999 : Lalo

After lalo entry better call saul become more serious and interesting
@surendarkm9340"its gonna be like I'm not even here" and the music is blasting 20 out of 10. LOL
@KrayzieRoachThat food looks awesome id definitely ate it
@D-A-1776Oh gawd
He summoned the Salamanca Raid Boss
Tuvieron que nerfear a Lalo Salamanca por el bien de la trama
@tarekluna4808What's the song name?
@devildare64801:19 foreshadowing
@Gian04Should have made a spinoff series with Lalo, instead of making a new show with the lawyer actress.
@Gwynnbleid95Show name: "En Mi Caballo"
@4partmediaman, he's so freakin' cool.
@pooplord6832Hardest intro ever
@andrebarnes3930What makes this show amazing as well aside from all the 100000000 factors that go in this but you can tell the character genuinely doesnt want to do some things to other ppl especially their friends or someone they mightve come close to even if its a little
@cloudf772The music cranked full blast just feels right for the character that has yet to be reviled after beating the last two
@KD-mm3liI have written about a character - an “archetype”, if you will - in speculative fiction. The generic name for this leader-of-a-settlement is “El Jefe.”
Upon seeing Eduardo, here - I’ve not watched the series - I thought, “It’s him. That’s El Jefe, right there.”
RAHH VIVA MÉXICO 👥
@DanyGzzz2:00 does this imply that he poisoned the food? Or else why is Varga considered "smart" in Lalo's eyes
@TheBfutgregThe way he speaks is intelligent it’s self lol
@ethancampbell138"This is a special recipe" Knowing Lalo, wouldn't be surprised if his latest victim was included into the recipe....😑
@roody716Has anyone ever noticed how he tests Nacho and Nacho comes out with flying colors...
The sly threats and the eye contact...
It's hard to explain, but I'm natively from Missouri. I was doing some work a few years ago in Las Cruces and something about New Mexico looks different but it's exactly what this show is showing. That yellowish hue.
@OhGFuegoThe famous Rafael Urrieta
@UchihaItachi-gy8lfwhy haven't we seen more of this Mexican actor in Hollywood
@obelisk1784Literally the Prime Sanctum of Better Call Saul/Breaking Bad
@SaxXyHe is one of the funniest most handsome but also scariest characters in the whole show
@doop00"You're going to die" is good foreshadowing
@Rud13-s9fHe's charming, yet something about him is unsettling in this scene. At first glance, you'd know he's not the kind you cross. Watching him danced and sang cheerfully, like seeing the devil. I love BrBa's Universe.
@RendyRubanNacho acting tough not knowing about lalo😂
@indestructible849Lalo’s singing is kind of cute 😊
@RandomRyanNacho: “Why do I hear boss music?”
@RandomRyanBu adamın filmi çıkmalı
@derindepo7069Paca paca paca en mi caballo 🗣
@mrxd2781Nunca en tu vida has probado algo tan delicioso eh? de verdad, mira espérame espérame
@andyg4929I would eat the taco, its also the same Bistec recipe Tuco was cooking in the desert hence a “Family secret”
