5:31 Slicing the Bread

Excellent recipe. 18hr ferment unmolested in a sealed tub after the initial mix. My "indentation test" suggested to me that I might be able to shorten the ferment to 12-14hrs without a problem. As done, my loaf came out fantastic. Crust, Crumb, and flavor. All the success elements. Delish!

Thanks for Sharing!

FWIW: King Arthur AP Flour, Morton Fine Grind Sea Salt, and SAF Yeast was used.

Great bread, but even better when you add a couple of tablespoons of fresh, chopped Rosemary mixed into the dough and melted butter and garlic over the top. It takes it to the next level

I do everything but the After waiting 19 hours, the dough came out really sticky. I could barely get it out. After that, it just stuck, which made me add a whole lot more flour. Why did that happen?

If I use half the flour as whole wheat, do I need to make any adjustments? What do I sacrifice by not spending the time kneeding it?

Grant Bakes is a participant in affiliate advertising programs which allow me to earn fees by linking to products on various websites. This does not affect the cost of a product for you, and I only recommend products that I believe will help you make better bread, sourdough, and pizza at home. The products I link to are usually the same products I own or similar versions (or sometimes products I really wish I did own because they're way better than the thing I actually bought!)

You made a mistake because in three of the videos I have watched for this recipe. You are supposed to flip the dough over and the seam should be on the top not the bottom.

Still no clue what the difference is between dried yeast and the stuff you recommend. It's all dry yeast

Thank you for this easy to follow video. I've been wanting (and saying) I was going to make this bread for a few years now, but just haven't done it. After I found your video last night, I put together a bowl. It's grown in the last 12 hours but mine looks a lot drier. I have covered it well, but I think I might have needed to add a smidge more water last night. Who knows! Still have my fingers crossed!

It seems to me that resting my perfectly shaggy dough just after 8 hrs becomes sticky and unmanageable. So what’s the solution. I live in subtropical climate, home temp 75F, could that be the reason and I should add less water than recipe calls for ? Shorter fermentation perhaps? I appreciate suggestions. Thank you

Is therea way to use regular yeast and not instant yeast and still be successful?

Why not score it? It’s such a simple step that prevents it from cracking.
