SoundCloud allows you to keep 100% of your royalties how are you not making money on their platform play can you make money or can you not make money with SoundCloud if they're willing to let you keep 100% of your royalties please explain. Maybe I'm missing something.

The problem with Distrokid, CDBaby, LandR and others, is that their terms of service are too similar to Spotify. OVERALL not bad, however in the fine print you find issues related to AI and the company's engines training on music you've uploaded, or difficult legal resolutions to copyright claims (sometimes made by "artists" who used AI). Obviously that's an overly broad statement, but it's intended to encapsulate the core problem of indie artists these days releasing music, getting paid, and NOT having their/our music in the hands of a large company who doesn't have our interests at heart.
Soundcloud has come out and specifically addressed these concerns and it's reflected in their terms of service which state that they will not allow AI engines to train on music you upload (I'm paraphrasing).
As long as these other distributors see a cash cow in AI training, I won't touch them with a 10-foot pole.

I am an artist and an musician. I like youtube, and I am iffy on instragram/facebook, but I despise tik-tok, but I think you need to bend your principals a little bit to make it as an artist these days.
