Ok so what viscosity of driven oil for a hellcat in climate that sees over 105°+....where oil temp management matters.. currently running Amsoil signature series. Some people have suggested I go up in viscosity from the factory spec of 0w40 to amsoil 5w50 due to the climate...what viscosity of driven would you run in a lightly modded hellcat that sees high temp operation?

So, just curious what your recommendation of oil would be for a 2025 RAM 3500 DRW with the 6.4 Hemi.
The Penzoil Ultra Platinum isn't always available in my area so I have options such as mobil 1 and Amsoil SS. All 0w40.
The truck is an HD that frequently tows 10k to 15k with high loads over the rear axle.
I usually change oil every 5 to 8k miles depending on the amount heavy towing for that interval.

Do you have advice for a different scenario? Specifically a BMW e92 M3 that's a garage queen (only traveling 2k miles a year on the street) and only 36k on its odometer. The S65 engine is notoriously tight crank shaft bearings, that the manufacturer wants 10W-60 viscosity. For this situation, wouldn't a high Total Base Number be good for neutralizing corrosive acids? For this situation, wouldn't more moly or zinc provide more film strengths for its cold starts? Popular oils might be Red Line 10W-60 High Performance Synthetic, Liquid Moly Synthoil Race Tech GT-1 10W-60, Castrol Edge Supercar 10W-60, and BMW M TwinPower Turbo 10W-60. Finally, would you advise using a friction modifier like Liquid Moly MoS2 or Cera Tec for this specific scenario where coating the bearings is crucial?

I want to know how Valvoline R&P does on the turbo deposits. Does it just clean it off? Does it shear more? Wondering if it's as good as Ultra Platinum for a new car

Overall for Protection, Price, and Performance it appears that the Pennzoil ultra platinum is the choice for most people

Looks like the most well rounded oil was the Amsoil. Definitely seems to be what I should continue running in the turbo diesel. However, now I need to think hard about what's best for the Z06 and Hellaphant...

Lake, can you do a test like this with diesel oils (particularly for trucks that call for a 15W-40 - T6, Amsoil Sig, Redline, Mobile 1, etc)?

I know you did the Turbo test on the Dyno engine, but I believe the Toyota 2.4 Turbo in your Tacoma has a system that continues to circulate oil around the turbo for a while after the engine is turned off to prevent the oil being “cooked”.

Interesting...so I've been using Rotella T4 15W-40 in my VW 2.0 air-cooled type IV bus engine. Most of the VW air-cooled crew yell zinc content.. Wondering if a modern 10w-30, 10w-40, or 15w-40 synthetic oil might be better..?

My 300k mile Sequoia runs whatever she gets haha.
I will say though, I had a 98 Audi A4 Quattro (B5 chassis all blackon black) 1.8t with full bolt ons, big injectors, FMIC, bigger turbo, tuning and 24lbs of boost its whole life after 100k. It only ever saw Mobil 0w40 Full Synth and I sold it running in good health to its original owner! No leaks, burns or ticks. Just smiles and horrible has mileage.

I've gotten word Amsoil Sig Series is reformulating the formula. look forward to seeing a video on that :)

I don't understand. He is obviously very smart but it seems to me that he contradicts himself from video to video. In one video he says that Wal-Mart brand synthetic is better than standard more expensive oils. In another he says Napa brand synthetic is actually the best even tho it's the least expensive, and in this one he says Penzoil is the best. Which is it? With the problems with todays cams and flat tappit lifters, it matters and having just rebuilt 2 motors, I would appreciate it if someone could give me some advice ** Disclaimer I am NOT a professional mechanic ** so I don't have the insider knowledge that a professional would have. So, here is my problem. I have a 2019 Mazda CX5, normally aspirated. The US spec for a normally aspirated engine is 0w-20. The US spec for the turbo is 5w-30. The foreign spec for the normally aspirated engine allows 5w-30. The car is going on 59k miles. Plan to keep the oil changed every 5k miles. The dealer says that I cannot put 5w-30 as it may void the "warranty." The car looks brand new, inside and out. At over 65, I want the engine to last forever or at least until I'm 90. What is your comment and advice? Thanks!

Could you do BG brand engine oil? They make the dynamic engine cleaner

Run it in the same motor for 1 million miles then tear down the engine and tell is what condition the engine is in.
