This is the problem with watching a one sided analysis. By that I mean most of the western media.
Iran did not just fire missiles at the sand here. They demonstrated that they could precisely target and hit stuff. Sure, Trump says the USA is not in the middle east for oil and that the USA is self sufficient. While true. That's not the full picture. Oil trade is done in dollars. Iran knows they cannot match the USA platform for platform. Their missile attack was more a threat to the US allies in the middle east. Iran is basically threatening to hit Saudi Arabia and the UAE should the USA try them again. Why do you think Trump was speaking to the Saudi crown prince's younger brother and defense minister before giving his press conference?


Israel and Saudi Arabia are US states number 51 and 52 respectively. Saudi in particular is very important for the money factor. They just bought $400 billion dollars worth of US military equipment. That means jobs, contracts etc. If Iran were to hit their main source of income, USA would definitely feel the pinch. The USA certainly does not need the oil but the oil in the middle east is very key to the USA's world domination.
