Invisible Wealth Rule | Why Looking Poor is the Secret to Getting Rich

Video Overview & Insights

The Invisible Wealth Rule | Why Looking Poor is the Secret to Getting Rich

Being free of debt, sleeping well, and having not a care about what people think, is a breath of fresh air. As you become accustomed to this you lose the urge to spend everything you make. Having money saved is freedom, even if it is just a little bit. Good video, good topic. A message we all need.

— @RicoGrande-qv4ex

Garrett drives an old truck, wears the same boots every week, and nobody on his street thinks twice about him. Marcus just got a brand-new BMW and everyone thinks he's made it.

But only one of them sleeps through the night.

At @ 11:51 ……. What did he drive 40 minutes to another town to buy a car ? Did he borrow the pickup from across the street ? Regardless he drove something .

This is the story of two neighbors — and the invisible rule that separates people who look rich from people who actually are.

I chopped up my credit cards many years ago, it was a very satisfying calming experience. I haven't had one since. Just live in our own paid up home and give about 250 Euros to animal charity I work at every month which will increase as I get older. I give away stuff I no longer need and will never use again to good people who are kind to me. It feels good.

I would like to learn how to make these types of stories. In my language, I think there is a very big market for this. Could you please walk me through the process of creating these kinds of videos?

I am Garrett. Brokerage account, older cars no loans, no credit card balances. People told my it was a bad use of money to pay extra toward our house. When we paid it off; they still said it was bad use of money and that I still didn't own it as I had to pay property taxes. When I retired at 52 everyone was shocked asked if I was okay or if I was sick. Just bizarre. We sleep well and we now do buy some nice things, very nice things but with cash and not because I want to impress anyone. I now buy what I want or go on a nice trip because we will enjoy it and still sleep well through the night.

We drive 2009 Hyundai accent and 2012 Hyundai Tucson. Purchased new, paid off each in 3 years. They are both Reiiable and we still run them around town to run daily errands. We have a used 2022 Toyota Tacoma. We hope to pay it by the end of this summer. Got 19 years left on the mortgage but we hope to pay it off in 9 years. That’s it. My husband takes care of front and back yard. I take care of gardening projects and rotate out seasonal yard deformations. Been doing this 11 years and we take much joy in maintaining the curb appeal to our home. On the inside with my time I’m cooking cleaning and decluttering and it gives me joy!! All of these activities don’t require money. We are almost debt free 🎉

You really don't need to "look poor" as a well-to-do person. I actually get most of my clothes from Goodwill and usually the best dressed guy in any room I step into. Why? Because I've learned how to shop for great-looking quality clothes at a fraction of the cost. When other guys are paying $400+ for a great-looking sports jacket I'm usually paying $7.99. I'm very similar to Garrett in the video. Never bought a new car, live very simply, and have learned how to manage assets through personal study. I personally chuckle whenever I see people driving new cars, eating out all the time, buying ridiculously overpriced coffee desserts, or walking around with an $$$$$ purse or watch in order to "look rich" knowing that the majority are living paycheck to paycheck.

As I’ve gotten older in my life all that matters to me is simply my peace of mind. That’s it. In my late teens and early 20s I loved to party especially in the Palisades here in California area. All the girls and “homies” of that time was all fun, but now as a happily married man with 2 beautiful daughters, it’s simply my peace of mind I seek.

Two sad stories. One guy dies alone with a big bank balance having lived a bare bones life. The other guy spends himself into oblivion with the stress of living on the edge of bankruptcy. There can be some middle ground here. You can lose sleep over other than money issues. A 15 year old high mileage car or truck is likely to leave you broken down far from home at some point. That could add some stress; both concern that a breakdown might happen, and hassles when it does. A lot of stress there. And buying a bit nicer car isn't completely frivolous. (As you age, a bit of comfort helps with aching joints and newer cars have some really helpful safety features like blind spot monitors). The fresh lean meat, fruits, and vegetables that keep you healthy can cost a bit more but good health has value. Garrett seems to be missing companionship. He has no one to share his bounty with. How about a four year old comfy sedan like a Buick or Camry purchased for cash and driven for five more years? How about a better breakfast than oatmeal? How about a wife who contributes some income and wards off loneliness? (Wouldn't it be comforting to have someone to confide in other than your dog?) I think Garrett could do these things while saving a reasonable amount for retirement and living well within his means. He might enjoy his life more, still not worry about the bills, and have no problem getting a good night's sleep.

Yes! I always buy 2nd hand good quality pre-owner's cars (cash). I keep myself free of debt stress and obligated to pay (feels like a slave). At one time, one new car owners (5-8 years bank installments) told me why I my more happy than her, she felt heavy burderned and I look carefree. 😅😅😅. Satisfying cook meals batched of noodles sauce and soup frozen in freezer. Lots of vegetables with no pressure, eating out restaurants give only few pieces and the unsatisfactory portion (scarcity). Great saving every meals at just a small amount also fell unburden. Great food cooking ingredients, vegetables & fruits at steep discount at 50%-70% off grocers and wet markets. More savings, more quality portions. Just monthly (7 days) allow myself to eat at my favourite food restaurants or eatery places (1 favourite meal a day, mostly morning, lunch and occasionally dinner). You know its great learning, to eat and learn from other's cooking skills, so that my home cooking skills can improve at my liking. Always, keep one busy (free time) everyday. I always look out for branded logo products at pre-owned items shops. Collect them, store it and overtime when the desired numbers is saved, liquidate it as gifts and it becomes part of my family Endowment Fund (Livelihood Pension Fund) drawing yearly interest (income). Friction of small cash investment and high value sales.

I sent this to my 3 daughters and 2 grandkids.
I told them I was both guys in this video. I use to have a new car or truck in the driveway, now I have a 05 dodge ram and a 08 chrysler Sebring. IM RETIRED and owe nothing and fill even better than when I had all the new stuff. I even get most of my clothes second hand, pants and shirts at $4 each. The system is always trying to get us to buy, buy, buy. I do, I buy seeds and have a big garden. My wife and I always come fall have around 600 jars of food in the basement storeage of food from the garden. We are both happier and no debt like are first years of marriage wondering how we will pay the bills. The money is there, bill comes in and my wife pays it, and that just fills
AWESOME
WHY DON'T THEY TEACH MONEY SKILLS IN SCHOOLS I WONDER.

It’s insane how close I came to skipping Power Behind Locked Door by Jacob Rockefeller. This isn’t just another book. It genuinely feels like something that was never meant to reach the public.

Dont forget guys, the only one who is important to you is the guy in the mirror, not other people opinions about you.

Live below your means, delay gratification, be free! I learned this lesson the hard way, bled a lot of money on a bmw and a porsche. Dont do the same mistake, invest those money in yourself and in your future, avoid buying depreciating “assets”.

Do you really have to be look forward to be rich or do you have to just stay below your means to be rich? You can still be stylish and spend less than you would be in poor. If you can take the extra time on your data manage your clothes assuming that you have a place to live then you don't have to look poor you just have to be frugal Style doesn't matter if you're rich or poor style is style
