HUGE Update In Drake's UMG Lawsuit!

Video Overview & Insights

Watch in Spanish: https://bit.ly/JBPSpanish

Why can criminal charges be brought against rappers for lyrics then? What sets the precedent for what lyrics can and can’t be used in a suit? “I'm fighting the man, not suing the rapper, you boys is not listening”. I think this case is a lot bigger than this podcast is making it out to be, the bigger issue is UMG trying to devalue Drake to offer him less money before his next deal which will likely never happen now. They can’t entertain selling (Bill Ackman) if they lose their golden goose (Drake). UMG made their play and got exposed, the bots, the whitelisting of NLU and pushing the narrative to devalue Drake. After the success of the 3 album drop, Drake proved he’s too big to fail. People that think this was just about Kendrick haven’t been listening and don’t understand the politics and business incentives to knock Drake down a peg.

Why are we acting like Drake started it?
Everybody makes a top 3 in their songs, nobody cares.
Kendrick did that too and nobody cared.

But since kendrick got Napoleon complex, he gotta prove his insecurities he had to jump in when Coke did it on a Drake song.

He never got the charts as high as he did in this beef and prolly never will ever again.

This is all way too much anger for somebody preaching maturity and personal growth in his music.

Drake is probably the worst person to idolize.
Kendrick ain't that good either.
Rap battles have become "whose gonna punch below the belt harder" competition.

Humans - https://bit.ly/JoeBuddenHumans

I don't think Drake ever won any of his battles cuz he always had a particular person to run to to get them off of him. After he throw stones and other messes. It didn't work with pusha t and it didn't work with Kendrick but everybody else. It work! And when things don't go his way, look what did suing. Once upon a time I was a Drake fan. I can't listen to none of his music .I can't never listen to any of his music man. I can't even listen to Cole the same way cause. Cole talked all the battle stuff for years and then when it came time to it he stepped in then he bowed out.. I can't listen to J Cole spit anything with battling no more..
Kendrick and his wife should take Drake to court For defamation.

It's actually a good thing that the court dismissed it. If an individual cannot be sued for defamation over song lyrics, then it also protects the artists freedom of speech and the "Young Thugs" of the world can avoid having song lyrics used to convict. Which is good for the majority of today's musicians across all genres.

The music industry is sustained by rigged views media coverage and awards. It takes the audience opinion out because everyone is programed to believe Kendrick won when he dont even have as many hits. Drake had so many hits the industry got tired of him winning.

Mark always thinks he’s the smartest in the room(well the room he’s in…maybe, however) he is dead wrong here. Proves they don’t do research before speaking.

LAWBREY is desperate. Nothing will be the same, no matter why he does. His brand is tarnished, fam.

@Leezy310

Kendrick’s hood and city caught trafficking children, says and does nothing. Yet calls Drake a pdf file with zero evidence?? Pusha T now named in the Epstein files. But somehow won the beef cause he didn’t like Drake keeping his kid out of the public eye. Like why was Pusha T so obsessed with Drakes kid??? Oh yeah, he hangs out with JayZ and Epstein. And everyone believes Drake lost these beefs??? It’s a crazy world.

@average.anthony
@

All of this makes Drake look worse. We knew he wasn't real, but he could rap, so be it. His fame and fortune convinced him he was official. Kendrick pulled up his skirt and his response is to sue. He isn't Hip Hop. He is a actor playing the role of a rapper. He forgot he was acting. He should have just made music and not rock the boats of the real ones.

@JayAnthonyP
@

7:32 Why was he asking for information on Kendricks kids??? lmaoo

@danaegoddess
@

Only a minute in and already sounds dumb as hell😂😂 imagine being able to sue over music IN AMERICA🤦🏽‍♂️ could you imagine what kind of trouble emeniem, Greenway, black sabbath, etc. would be in? Yea, if this case goes any further it will be considered un-American in my eyes🤷🏽‍♂️ makes sense though, he is from Canada lol

@o.y.d6681
@

I think Kendrick like Batman. He has records cooked in the vault for the top 10. He had all his records and atleast the templates pre prepared for the Drake battle. Drake more like Superman. Too much power and never considered Kenrick a threat.

@Bilal-oe5ld
@

Mona sounds stupid I won’t lie..

@kvyxss5575
@

Question if he wins against being called a pedo, can the person he called the same thing years ago in a rap beef sue him now? 😏

@jcar5351
@

This was so trash commentary… changing the name of the album becuse of ICE are you fucking serious ??? lol

@g2mbn
@

So you can’t sue for defamation that’s in a song lyric BUT you can be charged, put on trial, and sentenced based on song lyrics under a RICO though. make that make sense please

@amandapastore1983
@

So basically if Tasha K rapped that cardi had herpes she would be fine 😂

@Partyatjohns
@

Bro, when jeezy dissed Gucci on stay strapped, he talked big shit, then Gucci did his thing, drake need to take the L and move on

@brandengraham7958
@

Why have nails that long?...Looks stupid asf.

@JahlilMarley
@

They specifically said "YOU" 😂There would be no success lol

@Rackflippa
@

Yall missing the plot this dude Drake is suing bc he was ab to renegotiate his contract which was potentially 600Ms-1B and UMG promoted this to lower the value of his brand allegedly. Now anyone saying they wouldnt sue or you a lame for suing after potentially being stiffed out of a billion dollars is lying

@NELOFROMDA6
@

9:10 that’s a great point. Courts have been using lyrics against artists. Pick a side, admissible or not admissible.

@Cameo131
@

10:05 Oreo kid 🤦🏽‍♂️

@Cameo131
@

8:20 when did Kendrick go beyond the rules? I don’t even think Drake claimed that he did. It’s rap beef. Ain’t no rules. You may even get f***ed up which is frowned upon but understandable. Kendrick ain’t take it too far.

@Cameo131
@

7:05 Ish continuing to bring the point back to the fact that Kendrick isn’t being sued. It’s a UMG beef.

@Cameo131
@

I really want to hear marks fleshed out argument as to why it isnt defemation. He says he doesnt believe the rumors about drake so drake wont win but A LOT of ppl did. There are entire think pieces about drake during and after this where ppl took kendricks words as fact and only said 'its just a song' once they heard he was suing for it. It became 'just a song' as a way to further drakes loss and downplay him.

@CallMeWoodstock
@

Kendrick only dissed drake with the information that was already out in the public.

@Yengoskii
@

These guys are fathers you don’t want pedophile stuff on your jacket

@tugharris1819
@

But you have to sue about pedophile stuff you can’t let something like that just sit

@tugharris1819
@

I don’t like that these guys can’t talk about what they want

@tugharris1819
@

You can’t sue for song lyrics but you can’t get prosecuted in court for them?

@higherpower3101

These guys just keep missing the mark on their reporting, they clearly dont understand the ruling

This is what happens when a snake eats it own tail.

@BluBalN

He's setting up his album for what direction he wants to take it.

@ChrisTheSUB

drake went to far about Kendrick family so he can then sue too

@valeriemattox1127
@

They always talk as if he’s suing Dot

@BigSpook88
@

SuePac Shacourt

@AdeleKaye
@

They're missing the rap battle element. Drake hit kdot with ugly allegations as well. Ignoring that is sus.

@ENT8801
@

They also act like what was said caused him to get his perception change, it didn’t, people online have said this but it didn’t get more attention until the battle. It was an issue but it just got more widespread. If he wants to be hypothetical the information was out there and would’ve eventually came out, but it may taken more time if it wasn’t for Kendrick. R. Kelly was already known to be a creep and a weirdo until it got more attention, but it was known. So Aubrey still has no case to act like Kendrick’s words caused him damage, this information and speculation was out there, it just got more attention more quickly.

@edier1341
@

I feel defamation would work if it was unprovoked or no agreement to the fact. Once you partake in a battle no matter how big or small it is you are agreeing to be involved in a battle of defamation which is what battle rapping is so this shit getting thrown in the trash. Look at actually live stage battles. Whack Kendrick said is a yo momma joke compared to what these battle rappers have said to each other. Drake is just not part of the culture ironically since he has hosted battles and know what it consists of

@hurdyu
@

7:35 ish saying the real, don’t nobody want to hear that lol

@Brax504k
@

Drake’s lawyers argued as if NLU came from nowhere and that UMG conspired with Kendrick to make it a worldwide phenomenon. Judge Vargas asked Drake’s lawyers to explain their position and questioned 3 songs where Drake taunted Kendrick to respond to do a rap battle. They said those songs was artistic expression, so she then keyed in on Push-Up’s, Family Matters and Drake’s Heart Part 6. This appeal is for the 3 Judge panel to look and see if Judge Vargas violated Drake’s rights or what info went into her decision. So an appeal will send it back to Judge Vargas. Drake wants to sue because potentially he was expecting a $875M payday or be the first Billion-Dollar contract.

@dlbark

This is why i love this woman named Mona: “this whole shit wack. How tf we gon have good battles then”

Askin the real mf questions

@BlaccMind

It’s not the lyrics, it’s what people will do in response to those lyrics. Look what happened after the fact.
