As a quick beginner guide, the video is fine, especially if someone is coming from an older iPhone or Android and just wants to know where things are. But I also think it shows the problem with many “how to use” videos: a lot of this is not really iPhone 17 Pro Max-specific. It is more “how to use a modern iPhone with Face ID.”

I agree about using a case and screen protector. A phone in this price range is not something I would use naked, especially if the 17 Pro series is easier to mark around the camera bump or edges. But I would not just say a $1 case and a $1 screen protector are “very good.” Better than nothing, yes. But a bad case can fit badly, have weak raised edges, interfere with the Camera Control button, or leave the camera area poorly protected. So I would rather say: get something that actually fits properly, especially on a Pro Max.

There are also a few small things in the video that should be explained more precisely. He calls the right button the power button, but on modern iPhones it is really the side button. Holding the side button alone does not simply power off the phone like on many Android phones. Normally you use side button + a volume button to get the power-off screen, or you do it through Control Center/settings. And the screenshot part gets a bit messy in the video. On Face ID iPhones, screenshot is side button + volume up, not volume down.

Same with the app switcher. Yes, you can swipe apps away, but it is not something you need to do all the time. iOS already manages background apps pretty aggressively. I would only manually close an app if it freezes, drains battery abnormally, or behaves strangely. A lot of people still think constantly swiping everything away saves battery, but most of the time it is just an old habit.

The Camera Control button should have gotten more focus, because that is actually one of the newer model-specific things. It is not just “a camera button.” It can be used for camera access, zoom, exposure, photographic styles and other camera controls, but it takes some getting used to. A bad case can also make that experience worse.

The USB-C part should also be explained more clearly. Yes, the iPhone can charge other small devices through a cable, but that is wired reverse charging through USB-C. It is not the same as reverse wireless charging, where you place something on the back like on some Android phones. So if you say it works like a power bank, it should be said that it only does that by cable, and more as an emergency solution than as a real power bank replacement.

The camera part is also very surface-level for this kind of phone. If someone buys a 17 Pro Max, the camera is one of the main reasons. I still think phone companies should talk more in mm instead of only x zoom. 1x, 4x and 8x are easy to market, but they do not say much if you are used to real cameras. On the 17 Pro Max, 1x is around 24 mm, 2x is around 48 mm, 4x is around 100 mm and 8x is around 200 mm full-frame equivalent. That tells you far more than just saying “8x zoom.”

But 8x “optical quality” is still not the same as having a real 200 mm lens. It is a small phone sensor, a tiny physical lens, and crop/processing. It can be very good for a phone, but it is not the same as real glass, sensor size and physical focal length on a DSLR or mirrorless camera. I use a Nikon D7500 myself, and my 70-200 mm on that crop sensor is roughly 105-300 mm full-frame equivalent. So even my 70-200 is already tighter at 200 mm than the iPhone 17 Pro Max at 8x. That is why “x zoom” can easily sound bigger than it really is.

I actually did not plan on going for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. I was looking more at the Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Xiaomi 17 Ultra, but I could not really find the Oppo in Denmark, and I could find the Xiaomi, but the sites I found wanted full price. So I was basically left with the Pro models, and out of those, the iPhone 17 Pro Max fitted my use best.

And that is not because I am an iPhone fanboy. I use both iPhone and Android daily, just for different things. There are things iPhone does better, and there are things Android does better. I am not going into the whole iOS vs Android debate here, but it matters to say that for me it is not about the logo on the back. It is about which tool fits the job best.

So yes, the video is useful for completely new users, but I think it could use more precision. Especially around the side button, powering off, screenshots, closing apps, USB-C reverse charging, and the real camera focal lengths. For a normal iPhone 17 user, those may be small details, but if someone buys a 17 Pro Max as a serious tool, those small technical differences are exactly what matter.

You are over using "real cool". We aren't children and we don't need to be treated as such. The word "cool" in this context is meaningless.

@meFatuations
@

Don't agree. Never use screen protectors or cases. The severely detract from the beauty of the phone and the tactile experience of using it. Apple went to great lengths to make a fine phone and putting that junk on it ruins it.
