How to Teach Vocabulary - Teacher Trainer reacts to a Vocabulary Lesson
Video Overview & Insights
Introducing the first video of our new 'Trainers React' series. In this video, CertTESOL trainer, Jennie Fung, highlights and explains the key parts of a vocabulary presentation conducted by fellow Teacher Trainer, Laura Wilkes. Teaching vocabulary is a must have skill for all TEFL/TESOL teachers and is a key component of any reputable training course. This vocabulary presentation was only one section of a larger language lesson.
This teaching method is engaging and enjoyable, but I think it only works for English learners who already have some relevant vocabulary. I’m not sure whether it would be suitable for complete beginners.

Your accent is still a lot “Chinese” Your English is ok except for some….you can’t pronounce the word ALTERNATIVE correctly .You pronounced alTHERnative instead of alTERnative .It’s was a T not a TH as I heard .You’re not perfect why go on YouTube and start judging….?can you speak English better and teach English better?

@FatemehMorshedi-i9wWow
It is my first time to follow your contents and I subscribe immediately ❤
I remember the first time I saw something like this I thought to myself "what's the use of teaching language students already know?" But then I bought into the idea cause you know, work.
After many years I still think it doesn't make much sense although I must admit that it is a lot of fun for both the teacher and the students.
Excellent teaching 👏
@sal-zi7vuit's amazing . may i have the original channel of that teacher ?

3. Does she focus on the aspects of knowing vocabulary (Meaning - Form - Use)? Give examples of what she uses for explaining meaning, form, and use from the lesson.

@saparuddinfigoms3151The question is: Is distinct vocabulary teaching really the way to go? Are you using he time efficiently?
@disdonc6012If you listen to students, their English is very good. So how do we no that these students are English or from somewhere else ??
@rvrebel2209I think this teaching method is fantastic! Clearly showing student-centredness. Kudos to the teacher ❤!

@moustafabadji7763What a great teacher and explanation🎉
@HanaParnoonThans for vidio
@xawahassan6127Why does she write on the board? I better show the words after eliciting from Ss. In this way, I'd reduce the time for study part and focus more on the production part.
@anaryasharoglu2758I appreciate. <3

@tahamohamedzain4009Suitable for Chinese schools
@devitr9512Teacher Laura, may I know the song, please? I want to use singing to teach English. I like the way you used phrasal verbs. Thank you.
@sherryannmina3774An excellent presentation! Thank you!. Yet, the choice of the vocabulary items was not clear. E. g. students would have guessed the meaning of the word "tattoo" from any context.
@ekaterinazaytseva58Re. the lost key illustration - you would need the past tense verb. Because the perfect tense is required. *He has lost his key*. She also asked the question in present perfect tense.
@K0NSUMER_2025very helpful for the new teachers, thank u.
@phananhdungtran8187Please upload more reactions videos like this.❤🎉
