U.S. Army Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson | Full Documentary
Video Overview & Insights
Fort Jackson is the U.S. Army’s largest basic training center, located in Columbia, South Carolina. Every year, it transforms thousands of civilians into soldiers through an intense 10-week Basic Combat Training program. Recruits at Fort Jackson learn essential military skills, from marksmanship and physical fitness to teamwork and discipline. The base’s vast training areas, dedicated drill sergeants, and rigorous courses prepare these future soldiers for the challenges of Army life.
I went through Jackson basic in 1970, August = Hot. This looks harder than what we had. I could do everthing to the max but the low crawl. When I got in some minor trouble what do you think they had me do?

I did basic training at Ft Jackson late 2013-Jan 2014 , luckily I missed all the snowfall (it started snowing the night before I left for AIT lol).
@Chillaxin88That wall climb was an embarrassment, must have been reservists . I would have edited that out. Only thing it showed was teamwork. No fortitude, no energy, no motivation, no high achievers, one passing there weapon off wow. Alot different in 86
@johnwilson8922Just graduated basic yesterday and arrived at AIT today for those who are worried and nervous dont worry your drill sergeants will def make sure ur ass will get out of there in 10 weeks lol also the trainings aint that hard
@pog0302Females should have to get the same haircut as males for basic. Then grow it after.
@terrydigenti8756Annnd cut
@wazeso5605Good vid if you want to join the army 🪖
@Javlan-t8rThings sure have changed. I did basic training at Fort Jackson b31 tank Hill 1976. These drill sergeants are extremely kind compared to drill sergeant Davis and others I had the pleasure of being smoked by. I still think if you're going to send people down range, the training regiment is going to require a little more tough love shall we say. Combat has a shock value like no other and truth is truth, people going into combat need to be somewhat desensitized to what they're going to encounter. Anything less than that is creating cannon fodder. No offense, I just like the idea of our people having a chance at making it home.
@christopherford9992Went to basic in 1990 at Ft. Leonardwood Missouri! E-610 "RIP" Drill Sergeant Plummer.
@dk75thRangerRegimentWhat it gods name is this soft ass shit?
@derekbonser-xk7bzGraduated Basic Training in 1998 at Ft. Leonardwood, MI! Was only 8 weeks back then.
@GenethageniusMy son just made it here on Wednesday. Im so proud of him and can't wait to attend his graduation. As a Navy veteran, im proud my son decided to serve.
@TracyT78Those DS's have failed those soldiers,
every last one of those Berets look like smashed assholes.
I went to Jackson in 2003. There was a huge rumor going around when I went that if you failed BCT they would send you to Parris Island for "motivation" camp. Not true but it was funny hearing everyone talk about it like it was real.
@travelingcharles2000Going in September 2026, wish me luck folks

@SpidermansSymbioteWe at basic. Training set a record that stood for years. Even tho we had around 15 duds(((recruit s who could do nothing right)) 8 remember during live fire examination the dud next to me was fixing to fire his weapon (rifle)with his eyes sqinched and had turned sideways I knocked the rifle down before he fired and Lord knows many would have been shot. They took him off the line immediately
@sammartin8714yall act like yaal cant get a move or a hustle in this a pimp going have to show u how is done
@Henry169Leeper-j1f"cyber command: learn a martial art form put it in the gi bill"
@Henry169Leeper-j1fDon’t believe everything you see or hear they making this so much more dramatic than it actually is 😂
@zer0c00l7Man these drill sergeants are really soft on these privates. Just seeing them getting off the bus. I went to basic training at FT Sill Oklahoma a field artillery base in 1994 and we arrived in the reception side of base where you got your hair shaved got your military issued camos and combat boots. We were on this side of the base for a few days and then we took cattle trucks across the tracks to the field artillery unit. Once we reached the barracks Drill sergeant’s stormed the trailers yelling at us saying get off my truck and had several drill sergeants outside of the cattle trucks yelling and screaming at us getting in our face once we hit the drill pad we stood in formation and were immediately told to do pushups. No drill sergeant could physically hit you or put their hands on you but they would get inches from your face and get right into your ear and scream and yell at you. I watch these videos today and the drill sergeant’s seem less harsh at yelling and screaming at you than they did 30+ years ago. I had drill sergeant’s screaming within inches of my face. These Drill sergeant’s today are talking to recruits like the drill sergeant’s are teachers instead of combat drill sergeant’s. These recruits look like they are in boy scouts not military training. But then again the new generation are much more sensitive and considered snowflakes considered to my generation. Today’s society they would make the drill sergeant take sensitivity training for yelling at some recruit because today’s young generation are more sensitive and psychologically weaker than my generation or the generation before me.
@clcbc97This shit looks weak
@RetroChip06Maintain Beards because of religion, well I guess they don't give a rat's @$$ about a chemical attack.
12:45 THE CONFIDENCE CHAMBER, 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Yeah! That's not what a gas chamber is designed for. I did so many gas chambers in 4 years that I developed an immunity to the effects of CS. I gassed out an LT in South Korea once, funniest $hit I ever saw. Little guy couldn't take it.
15:40, I love that combatives training is now considered basic hand to hand combat. When I went in back in 03, basic hand to hand was just chokeholds and not even that many, you had a rear naked and a choke using a jacket collar and you were taught to not let someone get their knees in your armpits. That's literally it! If you wanted combatives, you had to sign up and take a separate class after you got out of AIT.
25:10 Awwww, how cute! They get to use zip lock bags for their clothes when they roll them.
28:25 Who designed this training? Where's the 5 meter spread? Come on guys! This is 8 UP!
34:20 I remember one of my DIs telling me I would come back from South Korea married, he was so damn close to being right too. By a gnat's hair.
No one who went to Ft. Jackson went to Basic training.
@dalatchkeys762That whole joint was bad, I didn't enjoy a moment (not the issue) but you spend 7 hours a day standing and waiting for literally no reason. Most of the time they also try to waste your time by making you run for no reason, over training one muscle and ignoring others, and completely forgetting the point of basic training. IF YOU ARE HERE TO TRAIN, YOU SHOULD BE TRAINED PROPERLY. It's ridiculous that they want to whine about everything when they can't train for squat. All of basic training is just meant to make you bored and tired enough to make your 9-5 after AIT bearable in comparison.
@JjunbiiOld Marine Corps Drill Instructor here, I respect and appreciate our nation's Army.
@peterhipple1631Crawling that slow when bullets flying and I’m mowing the whole company down if I’m the enemy.
@LordImagawaYoshimotoThe special forces are advanced stages of an instrumental in future advancement for those who have achieved a certain amount of success and development in their chosen field and as the name applies ( special abilities talent s skill. This level is not for all no matter the desire I wish ).
@russelljohnson2899All and every one should get that first hair. Cut. For basic training. No matter the individual's biology birth status. All have chosen the course./ Service. No such thing as dei. On the battlefield.!!!!! War is not college or care for one's feelings or attitude or. Mommy or a daddy's wishes
@russelljohnson2899When you said black women could actually liseten
@Sean-m5b4nThey put their arms in ice water to help keep them from overheating. Has nothing to do with resilience 😂
