How To Really Stop Getting Spam Email
Video Overview & Insights
https://macmost.com/e-2135 There is a lot of bad advice out there when it comes to stopping junk email. People will tell you time-consuming ways to get marginally less spam. But there is really only one method that will solve the problem of getting too much spam. And oddly, few tech advisors talk about it.
I find that what you say is absolutely right. Have used gmail since it first appeared on the scene and iCloud is my back up email address. I also have an old hotmail account that I use to sign up for subscriptions that look a little sketchy. They are all pretty decent at spam filtering. My late wife had a yahoo account and it was notorious for getting all the spam offers.

The ONLY thing that is going to stop this is very strict laws with harsh, expensive fines and that’s not going to happen because somehow or other our Congressional representatives are, evidently, on the payroll for these spam companies ; otherwise, we would not be having this problem in the first place. The greediness of humanity always outweighs the easy solution. If a solution is not forthcoming through legal ,ethods, you can bet your @$$ that your legal reps are getting paid for ignoring harassment emails.

I use Gmail at home and it does a great job.
I run M365 enterprise version at work. It's good just not automatically good like Gmail.
So at work (m365), I set Outlook to send it all to Junk Mail folder unless the email address is in my Contacts (individual email addresses) or in my safe senders list (all email from a domain is approved there). They need a "written invitation" and "checked at the door" to send mail to my inbox.
I check Junk Mail once per day (more during the learning period but it quiets down)

Gary this is good advice but I suppose the question is what do you define as Spam. In a narrow definition you are absolutely right. But I would like some ideas or filtering for the types of Email that pretend to be important account emails from whatever service you subscribed to but is actually Marketing. For example all those "We noticed you have connected to XYZ using ZYX" or some deature disguised as important account information or worse those newsletters/marketing where you have unsubscribed but they still continue to write emails to you. On iCloud I could then block them on the server, and at least with hide my email I can discontinue their email address and then they are actually GONE... But it is really inconvenient to do so, you have to log in to iCloud then find Hide My Email settings and so on... So I wonder which client does it best or which service provider is better at it.
@Admin-s6eIt should be illegal!
@suek.3448I usually expect advice and guidance. Promoting Gmail, THE source of all MY spam doesn't cut it.
@bernardmiller7247Disgusting
@joanmoodie5987Very interesting video thanks. I’ve been using Gmail and outlook email for years and rarely get spam 👍
@garethwilliams6518Google doesn’t that good every since I re-installed PayPal my email iCloud account inbox has been taken over with sexual adult sites I block, 30 minutes later over a hundred more are right back I’m sick of it
@normarutledgewhat a waste of time, a sales pitch for another email provider? are they paying you to promote theirs? i wanted a solution but is just a sales pitch
@noneofyourbusiness8658I keep getting them to my cell phone as a message for a toll bill I need to pay . Even when I block it , another one just shows up the next day —- which means someone has my number
@manofsteel6616Good information, thanks. I love Apple's writing tools.
Spam Reduction Advice: Most advice on reducing spam is ineffective, such as blocking email addresses.
Blocking Email Addresses: Spammers use fake email addresses, so blocking them is pointless.
Effective Spam Reduction: Only one effective method is mentioned, but it is not elaborated on.
Ineffectiveness of Email Rules: Blocking specific words is insufficient due to the vast number of synonyms and potential for misinterpretation.
Limitations of Local Spam Filters: Local filters are outdated, ineffective, and prone to false positives, making them an impractical solution.
Reporting Spam’s Limited Impact: Reporting spam requires significant effort and yields minimal impact due to the sheer volume of spam emails.
Spam Reduction Methods: Deleting spam emails, using alternate email addresses, and choosing a good email service provider.
Alternate Email Addresses Ineffectiveness: Using alternate email addresses doesn’t effectively reduce spam and could potentially increase it.
Effective Spam Reduction: Choosing a good email service provider that filters spam at the server level using large-scale data analysis.
Spam Filtering Importance: Effective spam filtering is crucial for email service providers to prevent spam from reaching users’ inboxes.
ISP Email Providers’ Shortcomings: ISP email providers often lack effective spam filtering due to their lack of focus on email service quality.
Recommended Email Service Providers: Google (Gmail) and iCloud are recommended for their strong spam filtering capabilities.
Email Service Recommendation: Gmail or iCloud are recommended for their effective spam filtering.
Hotmail/Outlook Spam Filtering: While effective, Hotmail/Outlook’s spam filtering may be too aggressive, sometimes misclassifying legitimate emails.
Switching Email Addresses: Switching to a new email service like Gmail or iCloud is manageable by gradually updating contacts and services over time.
Spam Reduction: Switching to Gmail or iCloud is the most effective way to reduce spam emails.
Spam Issue: Some users of Gmail or iCloud still receive a significant amount of spam.
So.....Just switch your email address - Use icloud or Gmail. Hmmmmmm Baiting title.
@CancerfightingVeteranHis solution: Change email services. Basically no answer at all.
@AKahlilGibranReaderToo much but didn’t help. Finally deleted my email address and voila, no more spam, big relief.
@lilyh1039This vid is Another waste of my time
@Moekoffee2001Useless
@CaliGirlJenI have a google gmail account, I still get tons of spam and my account has still been leaked. This is just as much bad advice as he claims the other advice given is.
@LukaDonesnitchGenius!
@MrEricNakamotoAfter a week you should see the amount of spam my junk folder collects 👀
@tonyvn5817many thanks lots go good advice, especially about blocking. 🤩
@mrcombiBedfordI have blocked HUNDREDS of spam emails and STILL get bombarded. He's right about spammers: They must randomly change their addresses. Wish there was a way to block emails with COMMON EXTENSIONS.
@Warthog333More useless suggestions
@ralphmalph6824I'm an apple user and primarily use my .Mac account. Aren't .Mac, .Me and ,iCloud the same?
@susieherrera1972Hotmail is garbage. They send legitimate emails to spam and send all the scam emails through. So bad I need to change.
@joebloggs-69the majority of this video was spam
@ticktock1861you said 1 but gave like 10
@wizardscrollstudioCan you just cut to the chase!!!
@oby4569iCloud does not stop spam! I get email all the time from some piece of human trash that uses a different Gmail address every time, uses a different woman's name all the time and usually writes junk like "My email address is" or "send me an email". I'd like to know that guy's physical home address and send him something else! I deleted my iCloud account and opened a new one just to get rid of the pest, which was a huge pain itself. C'mon iCloud, I don't get a lot of the emails I want to get because you filter them out, but this is the crap you let get through?
@Michael-y5tSo much talk and no real answer
@johnmitchell3719I have hotmail, but it's not really good at filtering out spam. My gmail does better.
@roberte.bainesjr.7164Outlook is absolute dogsh*t!! when i compare google i get 0 spam mails on most days of the week, on hotmail about 50-100 on a bad day.
@kassanderdjYou didnt even mentioned the most obvious choice if you dont want to change your email address; MAILWASHER, etc, why not?
@doefessI forgot one question: my computer mail accounts already include iCloud, gmail and hotmail. If I gravitate toward one of these, must I close the account in Mac Mail and use the gmail icon? It would be nice of Mac would get its act together and improve its monitoring system.
@philiprand3720I have despair from a list of "ladies" who would like me to enjoy their charms (a bit difficult to say the least for an 84-year-old.) Going through the list of videos on SPAM, I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw a video from Macmost. I have iCloud and also gmail, so I'll make more use of one or the other.
@philiprand3720Omg, and the solution was…?
@rockstarproduceNo, i will never stop emailing you!
@SpamInA_CanMail has to be the worst application I use! Its so full of bugs in both the desktop and iphone versions. There isnt even a spambox on the iphone version. Its a pity Apple wouldn't spent some of their billions debugging there software and providing software that works properly!!! Shame on them.
@deafdave6468this was a waste of time
@kpink2286I’m now getting stupid spam on gmail. No help from them.
@World-USA-lifeThere needs to be an option to block emails all together especially spam emails. Cuz I'm currently receiving alot of spam emails which I never even subscribed to and it's annoying having to unsubscribe and delete the emails individually. I never subscribed to any of these emails so I'm confused to why I'm getting them and how these people got my email address
That's why there needs to be an option to block emails. How can I fix this issue cuz it's annoying
My email app doesn't have block option
Really? Click bait.
@epicveganmealtime3981Spammers dont never use same email address twice so clicking them to spam never does any good
@charlesgeorge2197Google is the worst
@dwightsavannahbrown1856Sadly I get tons of spam coming to both my .mac and .iCloud addresses. Apple doesn't really seem to do a good job on spam detection, and neither their web client nor their desktop client provide blocking by domain. I don't want to use Google since they are a privacy problem.
@scotianovan1Waste of time
@navyad374850% of my mail i get on icloud is german spam mail... i'm not even german..
