How to know when to LEAVE your Relationship

Video Overview & Insights

https://youtu.be/ARJxDNalUoU

Yes that’s me 😔 we have 6 children… it breaks my heart when our children say “ mom do you know my biggest flex?” And they say “my parents are still together and I’m 16” 😢 💔 and our oldest is 22 💔🥺 they say most of their friends or classmates parents are divorced.😢

It's normal to want your relationship to survive, it's normal to hope for an intimate connection with someone. We all want to feel safe and close with someone we love. The only issue is...those things demand something from us. In order to build trust in a relationship, we need consistency, we need a felt sense of safety that this person cares about my feelings, needs, and desires, we need mutual respect. Great relationships don't happen by accident. And when someone else refuses to put in the work to make a relationship work we need to ask the question "how do I know when it's time to leave?"

If you ever want to support my work https://bit.ly/3FWA1Ez

It’s not that easy to be single ☹️ honestly it’s really lonely

What if they never say sorry? He basically implied he doesn’t like talking over the phone with me every day. He’s been lying about it for a year. I’ve asked him multiple times. I thought I was inheriting my mother’s bipolar disorder. He couldn’t be honest on the days he wasn’t up for talking. Said, “we could both be doing something we want instead of on the phone.” He lives an 1:20 hours away. He never even said sorry for hurting you and making you feel frustrated. I don’t think we can go back. I don’t know how many times he’s lied about his mom calling, his food being in front of him, or any of the other excuses.

After the break down of communication and feeling like I was carrying the relationship, I finally left. The line I was involve with their potential was insane and the mutual respect in love just hit so hard.

What about when your dismissive avoidant partner is showing you that they think about you and take you into consideration through acts of service and doing something that you know is only for your sake...but still refuses to talk about/ acknowledge your issues and things that you have told them is bothering you and despite telling them silence is not an answer. But they continue to stonewall and pretend like you did not break down crying in front of them and offer no emotional support, only acts of service. Is there any hope, or am I just trying to find ways to justify continuing in this relationship?

0:03 wrong. It’s really easy for me, and my lack of self esteem. It’s over when they are ready for it to be over. I was mentally checked out of a relationship 2 years in. It lasted for 7. Another was 4 years and I was checked out in a year and a half. 😅

I am (approaching 40) have been married for 8 years to my wife, who was raised by a single mother in a family where single parenting is the norm across generations. She completed her PhD in Gender Studies and now works as a lecturer, sometimes from home. Her deep resentment toward her father who passed away (and men in general) is central to many of our issues. She projects this resentment onto me regularly, amplified by her academic lens on gender and patriarchy, which she remains very militant about.

I’ve tried hard to be a supportive husband — I’m almost always the one apologizing to keep the peace, even when I know I’m right. She almost never apologizes, despite me raising it many times. She can go days without speaking to me unless I initiate. Our home’s happiness depends heavily on her mood, yet she puts on a happy, perfect-family front for visitors and her family. I’ve suggested practical solutions like hiring help for midweek cleaning and cooking, but she refuses.

I feel like I’m living single in this relationship. It’s incredibly frustrating to constantly have to “prove a point” as a husband instead of simply being respected as a partner. She is also very hostile toward her male students during online sessions, showing clear biases that sometimes anger them. This pattern makes me feel I’m married to someone who fundamentally views men through a lens of suspicion and resentment — including me.

All I’ve wanted is a true equal partner in a modern, dynamic marriage. I believe in shared responsibilities and have adapted accordingly. I’ve worked on myself, read endless advice (including from social media), questioned whether it was my fault, and we’ve gone through therapy and tried better communication. I’ve ruled out cheating. Despite all my efforts, I feel emotionally abused and am slowly checking out. The constant edge, poor communication, and one-sided dynamic leave me unsure if we’re moving forward at all.

Time is moving. I don’t want to grow older still unsettled like this or keep proving my worth in my own marriage. The resentment from her father’s past, reinforced by her gender studies background and lecturing role, seems to dominate everything.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation — especially where a partner’s unresolved father wounds and gender-focused academic career heavily shape the marriage? How do you break the projection, restore mutual respect, and create real partnership when apologies and repair are one-sided? I’m firm that I won’t continue long-term like this, but I’m open to honest, practical ideas before making major decisions.

I have read as many comments as I could and can only conclude that relationships should only be for a fixed period and nothing more. The contractual term of agreement should be non renewable from the onset.😅😅 Overtime people change and outgrow each other🙈This happily ever after is an illusion

I just stumbled onto your video at the right time. I'm realizing that my 20 year marriage has been failing for quite some time but I was/am too afraid to admit it. I'm getting into work at 5am even though I don't need to be there until 8:30. I'm leaving work at 5:30 just to go home feed the dogs then get into bed by 6:30. On weekends I go to my office whether I have work to do or not. I find myself watching YouTube videos especially on the weekends - 48 hrs can be pretty long if the only thing one is doing is walking and feeding dogs and trying to stay away from the house for as long as possible.
A lot of it is fear and I acknowledge that. Putting 20 years behind you is pretty hard

RELATIONSHIP ADVICE PLEASE

What do I do when I no longer love my husband. I don't like him touching me. I don't like him inside me. I don't like the smell of his breath. The saliva on my lips when he kisses me. I don't like it when his hand goes on me when we sleep. It's really heavy. I don't like it when he is near me. I get irked by the smallest things he does like when he talks while I talk.

We are Christians and divorce isn't allowed.. but i feel disgusted every time I have to offer myself on days when I can't say No to sex out of duty. He is a good husband, a great dad, just had a lot of relationship issues that added up.

I love him but just as someone I've had memories with and a child with. I really do not know what to do as it feels heavy when it's just the two of us.

I feel awful that I feel this way. When we're together, I feel awful that I can't reciprocate his emotions. I feel bad that I can't make myself love him again like before.

But if I leave I am still bad.

What do I do?

I've been in a relationship for almost 10y now, and i feel like this... I'm discovering a lot of things in my life right, know, let's call it "spiritual", and whenever i try to talk with my gf, she doesn't even care, she doesn't even wonder, or ask anything, i can feel and see in their actions, when i'm talking about anything that i like, she doesn't care, her body language say that she wants the talk to end, as soon i give a pause on the conversation, she immediately changes the subject or leave, doing other thing... It's been a few years now, and i feel alone in a relationship of 10y lol. I think the only option here is obviously, i try to do a lot of things, but she doesn't care. She even stops caring about dreaming in life, wanting more, not in money or material things but IN LIFE. We don't plan anything for the future, and i have a lot of plans and dreams, things that i want to accomplish, and I think if I keep this relationship, i will miss everything 😢😮‍💨. She is a very king person, but she just stop moving in life, and i don't want to be like that anymore. Any advice? I should break right, if i'm here watching this kind of content...

You just described my exact situation with my long-distance girlfriend. I'm really taking this to heart

@CorpseGaurdsman
@

I've been with my husband for nearly 20 years and he always tells me he loves me and that im beautiful at home, but in public, he's very distant and aloof, rarely ever holding my hand. The problem is, hes attracted to tall blondes, and I'm a small petite brunette. I know that he doesnt have eyes for me and it's very hurtful and causes me a great deal of anxiety everytime that we go out, because all I can focus on is how he walks ahead without grabbing my hand, or how he makes sure he's always got his hands occupied with keys or a coffee. If i move to his side that has a free hand, he'll switch his coffee to that hand or put his hand in his pocket. I often watch other couples holding hands in envy. When we're out shopping and I see other couples having fun together and the man sees nothing but the woman he is with, I often wish that my husband looked at me that way and gave me his undivided attention, instead of acting like we aren't a couple. It's been a very sad, lonely, humiliating and frustrating 20 years. I've shared my feelings with him about this about 100+ times over the years, but he might make a conscious effort to change right after we speak about it, then its back to his usual self the following week.

He's generally very good to me otherwise though, unless we have a fight/disagreement. He twists the facts and is the master of gaslighting. We pretty much fight every 2-3 weeks over something very stupid, because he's always creating issues. When we are good, he brings me breakfast, lunch and dinner in bed if I'm not well. He helps with dishes, laundry and washes my car, etc. He's extremely affectionate at home and treats me very well, but as soon as we go out, he's distant. My heart breaks evertime this happens, and I dread going anywhere in public with him for that reason. I've threatened divorce many times, but he always begs me to give him another chance, and I do.
He almost cheated me once years ago with my sister's friend who is a tall blonde. She seduced him into dancing with her while we were all out at a club one night. I should've left him then.
I think we stay with eachother for the security. He's all I've known for the past 20 years, and he takes care of my daily needs and he can fix almost anything.
I nekieve he's with me for comfort too, as I cook, clean and I'm the bread-winner abd provide us a very comfortable life.
I'm in my early 50s now. I feel like I'm too old to start over again, and I'm not as attractive as I used to be, but still recieve compliments from friends & strangers every once in a while. I'm afraid to be alone. Should I keep living a life of feeling that I'm not enough and despair, or should I leave and be alone and in peace?

My last relationship lasted almost five years. I can say honestly that there were the proverbial red flags. Then I should have paid more attention to at the time. Some of them concerned me, but sometimes we choose not to see. But you do get a sense when things aren't not right and i did in my last relationship, at about the three year mark. I literally tried to make it easy for her to break with me.Because in a way I was crying out that I was missing something. I literally told her that I didn't think she was actually in love, because I had seen what that looks like and it didn't look like her. Initially, there was indignancy and almost like it was something that I was doing as a test, and she kind of verbalized that later, but she basically said, do what you gotta do. And I said, no, that's not what I want to do, but what i'm telling you is this is how it feels. We nearly broke up and I said, okay so i'm right? She never clearly answered that, but what she did do was later that day she reengaged, and we had that conversation where people say communication is the problem, but neither person understands what that means or what to do.She said to me, hey, this is a good thing. I have to say she did not convince me.And I said, are you sure about what you're saying right now? She said yes. Well, a year and a half later, the relationship ended, buy this person breaking by text and ghost and it took me a little while to find out what happened, but she had been cultivating something months before the break. It just leaves me saying, what was any of that worth. I should have left when I tried to. I don't know what kind of person can do that to another person.
