How To Help A Shy Child Make Friends At School

I think you need to address the issue that not everyone( 1 out of every 4) can look people in the eye when people are speaking to you. They aren’t being disrespectful. Many kids are on the spectrum

my child is 2 year 8 month old and she wants to play with her only two friends which are much elder then her and my child asking to come at our home every time and she didn't go at their place so those two friends are not coming now and she cries everyday what to do in this situation? she met her everyday in society ground and sometimes they both denied to play with her and she cries in garden that she wants to play with them only what to do? kindly suggest

Shy is just another word for no confidence excuse me lack of confidence

It breaks my heart when my son 6 an only child and a good student at his school tells me nobody plays with him at recess he just stands there until he cries.. that hurts my heart.. I brought him a brand new ball on the way to school today and taught him how to bounce it against a wall before i took him into class because i know he can't just stand there! Fingers crossed that was a genius idea... i came here because i promised i would come up with some new ideas, he told me he would like that.

Thank you so much! My 6-year-old daughter in 1st Grade would tell me at home that her drawings were ugly. I asked why? She said she has a classmate who said that her drawings were ugly (during their art activity). Now. I taught her this: First, I asked her - Do you believe what she said? Do you think your drawings are ugly. She said no. They're not ugly. Then I said, so-> Tell your classmate: "I don't believe you! You are not the teacher. And it is bad to say ugly words to others" (She's in a public school with students coming from different kindergarten, not having the same culture of school where she came from). Just from these easy to memorize sentences, I was able to teach her to fight the wrong. I told her not to start a fight. but reason out for herself when someone is being mean. This video affirmed that my advice was right : Obey authorities. Thanks Doc!

My daughter takes time to warm up to my family. Once she does she is different but as soon as she sees me she just wants me to be close to her. Can been an only child affect her social life?

Do you have a video on how to deal with social anxiety? My husband can pretty much talk to anyone, has wit and is good at engaging others. I’m not there. My small talk game is “on the bench”. I’m a good listener but talking - not so much. Depending on the situation, my temperature rises and my cheeks flush. I do challenge myself sometimes but it’s still a problem.

Most people think that people are anti sociable but what if the kid is just shy.
It might be just a face that children go through, adults can help there children over come this

Sometimes adults get that as well.
The way to overcome this is to help children connect with others, practice or rehearsal. If adults go though that find way to over come it and practice it.
It could be some shy guy or shy women have this issue.

I think before any shy guys or shy women, start dating that they should work on that because it could help them out.

Respect yourself and others. Be nice to yourself and other people.

Dont yell or hitting. Dont bad mouthing yourself or others.

Respect property it because it increase self esteem confidence, trust in others an yourself.

Collaboration and obey. Make good decisions. Opportunity that challenges.

Good talks, BUT Ok, I still don't understand how those three rules have any strong relationships to help a shy kid at school??? A kid can behave very nice, follow teacher's instructions very well and coordinate with other kids smoothly, YET STILL is a SHY KID, such as feeling shy to speak out in a big crowd or new kids, feeling nervous to perform on the stage facing bunch of people staring at, feeling scared to be the central focus, feeling intimated to blend in a group that is not closed to, or be the frequent hand riser to answer questions in the classroom, or comfortably greet to the people he is not closed to etc. In addition, how does obeying to authority has any things to do to help a shy kid to make friends at school??? I am very confused! The only thing I would agree and feel logical correlated is "shifting focus" from oneself to others. This is an awesome suggestion.

I wont force my child to always respond to people when they speak. Teaching them that others might feel upset if you dont respond is a great step. It might help them decide to respond to at least most people. But if they feel like they really cant do it, I'm not going to put them on the spot and make them feel worse, or god forbid punish them.
My child will not obey me. I hope to god my child doesnt learn to blindly do as they are told by anyone. I want them to have a good reason for cooperating with people. I cooperate with the police because I dont want to be arrested. But if they were to begin doing something that doesnt comply with my rights, if theres something I disagree with them doing, I will not cooperate. I want my child to cooperate with me because they love me. Because they know that by helping me clean something, they are making my life easier and they enjoy making me feel good because it makes them feel good. If I told them that they had to sleep in a dog crate tonight for whatever reason, I would hope to god they would NOT obey because they would have the knowlege that if something doesnt feel right to them (what about trusted adults molesting them?) They should not do it.
