How To Eliminate Self Doubt Forever & The Power of Your Unconscious Mind | Peter Sage | TEDxPatras

Video Overview & Insights

Why do seemingly intelligent people procrastinate? Are there really hidden patterns and belief systems within us that conspire against our best intentions? In this talk, human behaviour expert, Peter Sage, exposes some of the hidden reasons and unconscious patterns that cause us to self-sabotage and explains what we can do to change them.

Choosing to not watch the news and just focus on your own world is where u go wrong. Thats selfish. We should fight for what’s right instead of just blocking that noise. It’s happening to other people in the world. The difference between you and any person Ont he world is geographical luck. choosing to just ignore the noise is simply selfish.

Although I do agree with most things. It is your responsibility as a member of this society to be aware of what's going on.
In the same way that news only focuses on the negative. It's all necessary if it's the truth and it will affect you and your family. The second you stop caring about that stuff is the second they will start stripping us of more and more because nobody is paying attention

Peter Sage argues that personal success is driven by internal psychological states rather than external resources or opportunities (0:46-1:43).

The following principles outline the core of his message regarding success, failure, and growth:

Core Principles of Success and Failure:
- The Conflict of Biological Hardwiring: Humans possess an inherent tension between a biological drive for comfort and an internal necessity for growth (1:43-2:07).

- Unconscious Programming: A significant portion of individual self-perception and behavioral limitation is established during early childhood (sub-7 years of age), leading to unconscious patterns that dictate long-term self-worth and decision-making (2:31-5:25).

- Habitual Efficiency: The brain automates frequent behaviors to conserve energy, transferring them to the midbrain. This results in individuals operating on 'autopilot' for approximately 95% of their daily activities, often perpetuating existing limitations without conscious oversight (6:00-8:14).

- The Primacy of Environment: An individual’s environment significantly outweighs personal willpower in determining outcomes over time. Consistent exposure to specific external inputs will inevitably program an individual’s internal response patterns (9:10-11:15).

Steps for Personal Growth:
1. Curate Inputs: Actively limit exposure to negative sources of information, such as mainstream media, which stimulate fear-based cognitive responses, and replace them with information that reinforces personal potential and growth (11:26-14:30).
2. Manage Associations: Consciously select a peer group that supports personal development and goal achievement, as individuals tend to adopt the behavioral standards of their surroundings (10:47-11:15, 14:00-14:27).
3. Engage in Expert Intervention: Utilize professional mentorship or coaching to identify and dismantle deep-seated unconscious patterns that prevent progress, focusing on addressing root psychological issues rather than just superficial skill acquisition (15:17-16:13).
4. Commit to Self-Mastery: Prioritize the development of self-awareness and emotional regulation to maintain focus and stability, regardless of external circumstances (16:38-17:20).

For me and my situational thoughts, well applying fear people don't realize or understand where life is rough in anything in life. Like attempting another basic relationship again in life or someday well I self doubt or fear that I could leave peacefully in the correct or the wrong way again and not only that but I have alot of weaknesses in a situation and its rough because half of the weaknesses is being afraid and people don't see or understand why to everything in life so yeah in a situation of steps

Key Takeaways:

The Comfort vs. Growth Conflict (1:43 - 2:07): Our nervous systems are biologically hardwired for comfort, while our soul or potential is hardwired for growth. The frustration we feel comes from navigating the tension between these two forces.

Unconscious Programming (2:30 - 5:25): Our fundamental beliefs are largely formed before age 7. Sage explains how childhood experiences—such as being told we aren't "good enough"—can create unconscious patterns that dictate our self-worth and behavior for the rest of our lives.

The Ant and the Elephant (7:30 - 8:12): Our conscious mind (the "ant") is industrious but only controls about 5% of our actions. The remaining 95% is driven by the unconscious mind (the "elephant"), which carries our habits and deep-seated limiting beliefs. To succeed, we must align the elephant with our conscious intentions.

Environment Trumps Will (9:07 - 11:10): We are adaptable by design. If we reside in a "freezer" (a negative environment), our willpower will eventually be defeated by our surroundings. We are programmed by our environment, which is why choosing our peer group and media consumption is critical.

Practical Steps for Change:

Stop putting the wrong things in (11:27 - 14:00): Cease feeding your mind with negative programming from mainstream media, which targets your amygdala to keep you focused on fear and scarcity.

Start putting the right things in (14:30 - 15:15): Curate your environment with inspirational information (podcasts, books, biographies) that supports your potential.

Get the wrong things out (15:17 - 16:15): Work with a mentor or coach to identify and rip out the unconscious patterns that hold you back.

Ultimately, Sage advocates for self-mastery (16:38 - 18:00) as the foundational game of life. By mastering our own internal landscape, we become the "eye of the storm" amidst chaos and can serve as an inspiration to others rather than an imposition.

Everyone is different but I like to be across what is happening in the world and in my country politically and how that impacts me and my fellow man. You need to develop the ability to be able to dissect information that is put out there and analyse it critically and form your own independent opinions, we need to teach our children to do the same. Otherwise awesome talk.
