I have confirmed last year in September, I chose Saint Joseph as my confirmation saint. His example as a man of God is something that has helped to guide me to be a man of God myself.

Can Ascension please make a feminine version of this? On what virtues a woman should have in order of being worthy of a man like St Joseph?

Why Bother Dating At All?

@BrianPalmer-ix3pr
@

I hope my both sons will listen to this
It’s so hard in those days to convince this generation that the normal is NOT normal
Living together
Having sexual experiences before getting married
No commitment
No dating without sex
And all of this as men IF they talk about IT
it’s considered old fashioned or weirdo to think that way !!!
My God it’s so hard to direct them one is 20 who just started dating !!! And the other one is 26
I pray for them not to be put into temptations
They are not Christians I pray that they open their heart to the Lord JESUS I Guess I cannot protect them But God Will 👉

"God, King of kings, Ruler of the world
The One whose Will makes the hells trumble
The One whom the adorable heavens always adore

8:13 lay down and me submissive is many things but manly lol

1:06 justice yes,
2 chastity "what is the difference of a horse and a rider, the horse is stronger enduring faster still the rider is in control " control is a virtue, giving in to desire and denying it all together is the same weekend and lack of control, wellness is not a virtue.
3 Strength is not a virtue its a tool. Nature claims the week shall perish is nature virtus? Strength dominating is just physics. Is a murderer robber not stronger than its victim?

4 prudence its more of survival technique but sure
5 obedience the word should be loyalty, but if obedience its not an idea, its the lack of ideas, following blindly can conflict with idea's and without strong ideas more important than obedience or anything, we are no different than a reaction. Without idea's we are no different from animals, or if week we are dust in the wind, if strong calamity's. If that's okay what dos it mean to be human what dos the meaning of a soul?
6 faithfulness yes another word to loyalty...more fitting

I needed this. I lost my father when I was very young and have not had many fatherly role models in my life but through Saint Joseph and learning about his masculine, fatherly, and Christian virtue I have learned a lot on what it means to be a man and servant of Christ.

Good luck to the 0.001% people this is addressing. Men aren't Joseph, and women aren't Mary. We don't receive the same graces, as great as that would be. Fully agree with chastity being pivotal because of the effects of not keeping it, but if only whoever is the biggest saint already is allowed to date, then welcome to our extermination in a generation. Unless you want only other religions to survive modernity. The internet and self-sufficiency culture have created unrealistic standards and unreal, overblown expectations and that is making catholics literally die out and children be replaced by cats. That gives you the current tons of Catholics in their 40s still looking for the "perfect match" like it's not long over already. Previous generations just married the first person who was good enough, idealism can turn into poison. I'm so tired of it and of all this cucking and emotional blackmailing by women. Nowadays women are at least as unfaithful if not way more. Have some humbleness, we strive for perfection, we don't expect it

@iji6249

dislike for the wrong title. Maybe it's a click bait strategy.
I searched for "how to date" not "how to be holy", or "how catholics men should be", not because whay you say seems wrong, but because any priest can talk about (even better.) ;)

That was super well spoken! Very helpful. Interesting how simple it is, yet so hard to master: The manliest thing you can do, is commit yourself to God. Spot on.

@MallettMotion

I think that can’t be the right interpretation because later on the angel explicitly assured Joseph the child had been conceived of the HS and admonished him not to be afraid. That wouldn’t be so explicitly emphasized I think, if at Joseph already knew?

Also are you saying to simply be a doormat in relationships?

Is that really the most commonly held belief? Never heard it before, seems unlikely.

If Joseph was young, I wonder how he died so early.
I'll be honest, I'm scared to believe everything you just said despite how pretty it all sounds.

It's absolutely refreshing to hear a young, single man say that people who struggle with habitual sexual sin shouldn't date. It's a standard I've come to for myself and any potential suitors, and it's one I intend to stick to no matter how difficult it seems to find someone who agrees. I'd rather be single than introduce that into my future family. Kudos!

"Mystical City of God" by Blessed Mary of Agreda goes into a history of the Blessed Virgin Mary (which involves St.Joseph and Jesus intimately). It is not considered part of the church you have to believe but it is considered most valuable for the faithful to read. The section on Mary's pregnancy and Joseph's actions toward it is in Book 2 "The Conception" around the second quarter of the book.

Anyway, in the book Mary and Joseph both privately consecrated themselves as virgins, then God worked things out to where they were pledged in marriage to each other and then married. When they both found out the decision to live as virgins that they had made, they were overjoyed. They were already married. I forget at which point the Angel Gabriel came, (it was either in the betrothal period or after they were already married) but the relevant info for this topic is that Joseph was not aware she was pregnant until they were well into a few months into their marriage.

Mary had not gotten express permission from God to tell Joseph about the pregnancy so she did not and instead prayed for him and God's will.

Joseph dealt with two things, what his eyes were seeing, and what he knew of Mary's exemplary character and sweet soul in the time they had been married. The book says this was the hardest struggle he had and would ever face and it tore him up on the inside. This is because in one light, she was perfect, in the other she had sinned against him and God in one of the most grievous ways possible. But he decided to not just go with what his eyes were seeing and instead to resolve to not understand it but to leave her and live the rest of his life in the desert in a place where nobody would know him. This way she would not be killed in accordance with the law for adulterers, because through everything he had experienced with her he did not believe she deserved it. He accepted his predicament and resolved to do the best thing for her first... and then himself. I think this really showed his just character.

In the end God sent an angel to him in a dream explaining everything. God ordained that Mary and Joseph should both be tested through this in following his will, to show that they could, and for them to grow in virtue. The whole story and their reunion after this trial are very romantic.

Great talk BUT there's a serious problem these days with Catholic talks focusing on how bad men are while giving women a free pass. It's because its safe to bash men, while it's the end of your career to tell women to improve themselves. It's tragic how many men listen to all these Catholic talks and obey them, only to find out Catholic women aren't taught to imitate Mary, are not taught what is needed for family or what a husband needs. Instead it's one long list of men never being good enough. How about women be held to chastity, virginity, debt free, submissive, homemaker rather than career, feminine in disposition and fashion, etc? Im not saying this to be a jerk, I'm trying to sound the alarm. There's a cancerous silence among the top Catholic outlets to avoid asking anything of women.

She was a child, put out of the temple once she started to menstruate, and he, at best must have been middle aged, as he had grown children. So I kind of so think he was more likely older, certainly older than Mary at maybe 10-12 years of age. I did love the way you presented this, and your enthusiasm and light is very bright. Thank you 😊
