How Konami KILLED PES

Video Overview & Insights

In this video I talk about how Konami destroyed pes, we go through the whole story, from the golden years when pes was untouchable, all the way to the decisions that slowly killed it

After watching the vid i was sure this guy has atleast 10k subs. Turns out he has only 55 subs somehow. Keep up man you have a lot of potential!

This is my opinion of what happened, why it happened, and why it still hurts. Everything here is my own opinion — you might see it differently, and that's completely fine.

Around 2000s in some places it was known as Winning Eleven World Soccer before around 2010 all regions except Japan use the name Pro Evolution Soccer (PES)

HOW.... can this guy skip the Winning Eleven a.k.a. I.S.S. legend on Nintendo64???!! 😮

Are you asleep or just lazy?
The 3 N64 games were absolutely LEGENDARY, standard raising and changed everything.

When they brought it to Playstation the first editions were utter GARBAGE. Only from 2000 onwards did the games start to become acceptable.

I appreciate this video but you failed to include A MAJOR chapter.

Im not joking when i tell you that my most played game the last 2 years has been PES 21 yes, THE DEMO, because they removed it from the digital store, so i can only play it that way or buy a crazy expensive phisycal copy, but thats how good it is, GREAT even, 10/10 gameplay.

No dude, smartphone efootball market is huge, although i preferred 2021 pes mobile version , but no fifa or anything can compare with that, i have played fifa, pes on pc, they were buggy, efootball in mobile is so well optimised, and with mobile, we can play on the go, the game is free with better graphics than eA, and better physics, u can spend a shitload of money or u can choose not to spend any of the money and still make a competitive team. They simply chose a different market, and it's a shame that they just forgot about console

You shouldn't be looking at Steam charts. They are making billions of mobile + consoles. Rarely anyone plays on Steam, like me. It's a scripted disaster of a game focused on microtransactions. But its working for them financially better than ever. It's just sad. Capitalism ruined art and entertainment and every other aspect of society. Or better said - human greed.

To give an example, PES 2011 lost its identity a bit. The ball physics took a hit, and the players began resembling those floaty holograms typical of FIFA. The game lost its signature mechanical heft and solidity. They did try to course-correct with PES 2012 and 2013, which was a partial success (I actually quite enjoyed PES 2012).

PES 2014 was a clear attempt to restore realistic physics. While it was admittedly plagued by bugs and glitches, it served as the essential blueprint for PES 2021, the final fan-favorite of the franchise. So, despite its flaws, PES 2014 is highly important. The subsequent titles built on its core were vast improvements; PES 2016 stands out for me as a mix of all the good things from the 2014 and 2015 versions, despite some glitch issues that were maybe unfixable on that engine.

For the record, my all-time favorites are: ISS Pro Evolution 2 (PS1), International Superstar Soccer 2000 (on N64 - loved that Career Mode, hehe), Pro Evolution Soccer (1st PES on PS2), PES 6, PES 2009 (arguably my favorite), PES 2012, and PES 2021.

PES 2014 is the last ever game released for PlayStation 2 (except in North America region where it's FIFA14 instead), that time was a turning point for gaming, PS2 was such a legendary console and part of childhoods of so many people worldwide.

I really miss PES, I hate the gacha gambl!ng mechanism in eFootball. Even though I've been in Division 1 several times, I miss the old-school atmosphere of playing offline with my friends in PES.
