2:07 Correction: Cuba seceded from the US in 1902.
Finding out, alright…
With over 800 military bases around the globe, the US is easily the most powerful nation on earth. But it wasn't always this way. The US once played an insignificant role in global affairs. In this 8-minute video, you can see the transformation.

This video did not age well by 2026 under that Dumbold Rump's second term with his engagement in at least 8 conflicts around the world while threatening several others including Greenland.

All this could still be the Brits if they just gave us representation in Parliament back in the day lol.

Good but how long can they stay like this? Thats what matters. Pretty sure they will be brutally overtaken in this century by the countries which were richer in the past
@spider-man9046USA is super ignorant, their power is a joke 🤧
@busybody1474I remember watching this video long back.. It still looks great
@TheBriefingDeskYTWatching this in the year of the 250th anniversary 🇺🇸
@CalicoKitties-ib3qbAmericas wholes history has really been toxic in all fronts.
There people and others around the world
He part about Bretton Woods always gets me, the US didn't just win a war, they signed up to manage the entire world's economic stability, most people have no idea that's what happened in 1944.
@UncountedUSThis didn’t age well
@BadHombre914I watched this in social studies 😊🎉
@WHATHAPPEBEDINDGreat great great - thank you
@kennethchao1678How much do law teee
@theadvancemineRegardless of what can be said about the United States, it must be acknowledged that this country had a very strong constitution and democracy that greatly helped it become the world's leading power to this day. Greetings from Ecuador, a country in South America.
@xxjcbsk8c3dJealous aint the word
@MandontworkdonteatUSA❤️
@usaorigins1945Trump is unmaking the US as a super power in real time. But Make America Great Again, I guess. Enjoy
@PriimoThe reason the world entered into the most peaceful era of human history, the likes of which our ancestors could only dream of, at the end of World War II is because of America and it’s influence not in spite of it. And just remember anything negative you say about America is true about Russia and China times 10.
@ryan4325Wow😮
@AverageKnowledge-p2umight as well just take this video down at this point
@claytondykstra3301Almost ten years have passed since this video and America still remains a world power
@axavsxThis was one of the earliest videos to really get me into researching the United States history. And I thought we were better but than Gaza and Iran happened
@Kingkevo1738Fun Fact....Hawaii is not part of NATO.
@Jmurda1983It is interesting that the history of America began with colonization and the struggle for independence. I learned that the American Revolution played a key role in shaping the country’s political system. This event led to the creation of a democratic government based on freedom and equality. I think this is very inspiring because it shows how people can fight for their rights. One possible reason is that the colonists wanted more control over their own lives and decisions. This reminds me of how countries today still fight for independence and justice.
@Peaceme-z5w❤️❤️
@dilura-j7rIt’s more like a curse because now in the big 2026 it is incredibly hard to find good media or products that aren’t American. Japan is good in the games department but I want more representation for the country I’m from, as I don’t trust most Americans due to the abelisim that is brought upon the people by the government
@A_rather_strange_mario_fanWe’ve finally found out, thanks Vox your prediction about Trump was fairly accurate.
@Sheesh0hengDown with the American empire
@pastaboiii3324Hyper power*

@metaliommiThis needs an update. Trump have changed. 😅😂
@zaema21Well for sure Trump 2.0 is drastically diverging America’s foreign policy.
@Woobeewuuit's all about USD
@HowEmpiresEnd1:50 This claim is absolutely FALSE. The War against Spain over Cuba was one of the most popular wars declared in American history. The "Moribund" Spanish America was engaging in a genocide of the Cubans in a dying bid to maintain control of their rapidly collapsing Empire. Valeriano Weyler started rounding up the entire rural population and putting them into "reconcentration camps" to control guerillas. They burned villages, had no food or medical supplies for overwhelmed tent cities, where disease thrived, and killed anyone found in the country side. In a single year, 300,000 Cubans died, which was 1/5 of the population. That would be the equivalent of 60 MILLION Americans dying in a single year. (50x the US death toll from COVID).
Business and the elites actually opposed the war. They were worried it would dent financial recovery. Average Americans lobbied congress aggressively for intervention. Legendary anti-Imperialists like William Jennings Bryan, William James, Robert La Follete, and Mark Twain all supported the war, calling it "the highest moral position ever taken by a nation since the almighty made the Earth." The Teller amendment passed overwhelmingly and forbade US annexation of Cuba.
The fiasco it caused in the Phillipines (which the US never initially wanted) may have made the war a net negative. I haven't detailed knowledge on the other claims this video makes. But check out the book "The Ghost at the Feast," by Robert Kagan, Chapter 1 "A tale of two wars."
Thay have something everybody knows true talk. too difficult to get there especially now day's true
@ApinderSingh-o5ffind out in the next season of america
@MysticTravels11No American hould feel about about about the Indians defeat. The killed, enslaved and torture just as much as the rest. Let´s stop with their victimization. They had guns too and they lost! I dont know who came with the idea that millions of milles of land should belong to a few tribes... It´s absolutely ridiculous.
@urivan9613😎Americaaaaa 🇺🇸🦅
@LasCronicasBelicasMXOH NAH
@PortableClockAmerica had to fight a lot of wars all in the strategy of become a superpower. First Germany was a superpower, America had to make sure Germany falls to increase its advantage to become a superpower, then Japan and finally supporting a proxy war against Russia to deter it from becoming one of the world superpowers.
@omniscient702Thank you for the video... Very informative.
@clemencemutegeri925Yes, the answer was yes
