He Planned the Perfect Crime, But Made One Huge Mistake | Police Interrogation
Video Overview & Insights
Nicholas Firkus claimed a masked intruder broke into his home and shot his wife, Heidi. But as investigators examined the scene, his story began to unravel.
"She was pretty calm, because she was panicking."
In this video, we break down the psychology, contradictions, and interrogation tactics surrounding one of the most disturbing deception cases in recent memory. From the 911 calls to the forensic evidence, this case reveals how a carefully constructed story can start falling apart under scrutiny.
This is a criminal psychology analysis of the Nicholas Firkus case, focusing on behavior, inconsistencies, and the interrogation dynamics that helped expose what prosecutors argued was a staged narrative.
If anybodyās interested: these interrogations investigation is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine. Iāve seen hundreds. 99% of the murderers are religious. Recently There was one Sikh šŖÆand one MuslimāŖļø.(heās actually a white guy, butšāāļø) Soāļø all Christian Church going God-fearing active in their parish community some are even pastorsāļø. Itās the fact that itās mentioned in each interrogation. So hereās my query: if you were visiting from some obscure country like Bhutan š§š¹ , would you not assume the Christians were bad guys?

This police interrogator is outstanding. His line of questioning and intricate detail of each question is impressive. He really knows his job! Also, anyone else find it odd that the suspect would have his wife descend the stairs ahead of him knowing she would be the first to be shot if there was an intruder about to burst through the front door?

Amazing how dispatchers are shocked that people are calling for an emergency

What was there to like . You have no introduction, no summary- just a momient of a man getting interrogated by police cutting to 11 years later he was arrested . I mean what was there to like ooint ? Hearing about the case in whole might have been interesting but this was like a shitty movie trailer that basically is saying ā this is a movie and thatās all the information we have on it . Other creators might have more for you but do not forget to like.
@DLeigh-LAHow did the case remain unresolved?
@edgarramos1499Hey letās give everybody high powered weapons and elect felons as President. What could go wrong ??
@WdawgSmithPeople who āreligiously lock their doorsā have a routine. Right before bed they go around and lock all the doors, every night!
@WdawgSmith7:41 How could you actually take interest in hockey (anytime really) an hour before offing the only woman who ever found you attractive ?
Maybe heās lying about that part If not heās a complete psychopath. A normal person would be pacing or I donāt know Not watching hockey
5:53 Least shocking statement of all time.
Sir, YOU played around on a computer ?? Sorry we just donāt believe you. Are you sure you werenāt playing pick up basketball? Full court?
Why they always blame a black guy when they lie about harming someone that's why he got caught should if told a half truth and said it was a white guy š
@washingtonshunteHow the fuck did the bank give them a loan for that amount of a house. They clearly didn't have the money to a afford it
@master_vatorMan, to know, she notice that he had the gun and new she was about to get shot by him, and that was the last thing she had to think before she died
@master_vatorMan, he made her watch AVATAR and then sports before he killed her. Jeesh.
@thewrightwilliamsThat investigator sucks!!! Weak!!!
@jaygilliland1121I have cried more when I had to say goodbye to both of my cats.
@TwoQuaters5150Lol this guy is pathetic
@jonnyboyd771558:17 āsubtlerā sounds so wrong lol. I guess itās ok since it didnāt get spell checked when I typed it lol. I would have went with āmore subtleā but I guess Iām the dumbass š
@johnnyrodriguez5938I often wonder when watching these, how many others have been in this situation and actually gotten away with it. How many home invasions in which one person dies and one survives, were the survivors actually the perpetrator and they were never caught? How many ppl watching this interview have gotten away with murder, maybe in the same circumstances.
@mrsflynns6383He sounds exactly like Kiefer Sutherland
@AlcideRebeccaServed her cheap wine š· and burgers š for her last meal, he canāt be all that bad š
@cindyluuuwhoThis really sound like my guy, how we was describing all lies about his affair,that he never had an affairššš even i have proof showing him yes,you are cheating on meš
@crystalthomas1541Our house is almost the same configuration as theirs except we don't have a basement or garage. Our firearms are in a gunsafe in our bedroom. Our "emergency plan" is exactly what the detective suggested. One of us will lock the bedroom door, and retrieve firearms while the other simultaneously calls 911. Then we will "hole up" in the bedroom, opposite side of the room from the door utilizing our bed for concealment.
This guy's story makes absolutely zero tactical sense.
Rip Heidiš¢
@DanielleChavonThe new wife was sleeping with and having kids with a murderer all along. He's ruined that new family's life as well. Glad they finally arrested him for the murder of his 1st wife but what the heck took so long?
@MissX905He doesnt even sound upset ummm
@mandysingh5085No emotion what so ever!
@Debra-y9tThis guy messed up cause he didn't realize that she called 911 before he shot her
@andrewmiller868Ya can't screw with real evidence if you say shotgun was pointed in a direction but no pellets found then to insist the gun was pointed there HAS TO BE A LIE or that a large amount of blood found would also state something happened at THAT spot when one tries to control the narrative the truth of real evidence won't line up with the story.
@raygarafano3633He knew she would not make it.I don't think the door was jimmied
@raygarafano3633they slept til 10am? full grown man and woman?
@jlbj1985So why did he let home finance get so out of control? There's something else going on here massive debt and her not knowing it's very DIS-HONEST then her ending up dead .....
@raygarafano3633Why would he get into the intimate side of the marriage?
That is SO weird.
Yup he wanted his wife dead much better to have stayed up in the bedroom and keep gun pointed at the door way just go find a place to live sounds very mixed up.
@raygarafano3633why do 911 operators always sound like complete unhelpful idiots
@erinnero130Definitely easier to divorce and rebuild...
@ousmanediop9113One thing that was interesting is he must have convinced his wife someone was breaking in. She told 911 that someone was at their front door. That might be one detail that prevented an arrest?
@david25876R.I.P HEIDI
@tommymarcum9183Detective: āthis is the worst part of my job⦠she didnāt make itā
Idiot: āsigh⦠I kind of figuredā¦ā silence.
What a moron. No emotion no nothing just āI kind of figuredā well if you werenāt the prime suspect by now you certainly are after that.
Is anyone else annoyed by how he drinks that coffee š¤¦
@NicklausRobertsrubbish. no foreclosure person is going to tell you you can leave your houseful of stuff in the garage. total trash talk
@fairmaiden1surely the detective would be thinking she didn't know about the house as she was out shopping in stores and looking around for buys just the day before. not something you would do if you knew your house was being taken the next day or within 48 hours
@fairmaiden1This guy just saw his wife shot??? He is acting very calm and upbeat.
@Mom99004"and the compassionate person in me says not to pull the trigger" LMAO
@fairmaiden1guy has a big thirst lol
@fairmaiden1The perp has to take a sip every few minutes. Lying is thirsty work.
