They are two consenting adults, a man who is in love with a woman, yes she is his late brother’s widow, he didn’t let his feelings get in the way when he was alive, because I am pretty sure his feelings for Pamela were there but dormant…That being said, Justin you go for what you want, go get the girl. Besides, the irish use to do just that as a tradition.
I am sure Andrew would rather you raise his children and keep his family safe than having a stranger to do the job, society ‘s criticism be damned !!

This is an interesting story, and one that happens more often than not.

I felt conflicted listening to this story but at the end it's a No for me. I liked the characters and felt empathy for them, but I was put off by the suggestion of the dead brother's approval to lend legitimacy to what these characters were contemplating. The heart wanting something doesn't always make it right. I realize that not everyone is a Christian, but this practice was condemned by John the Baptist when he called out Herod for marrying his brother's ex-wife. There is no normal in the children of this couple being both siblings and cousins. The old adage is true, "Putting lipstick on a pig doesn't make it less a pig." So, I heard the story, felt its tug, but at the end of the day, I must reject the narrative.

This might have been a better story if Justin had shown up several years later delayed for some reason. The wife falling for her brother in law too soon is hard to accept.

Brilliant, and beautiful. In Judaism this is almost like the Leverett Marriage. If a man dies leaving his widow childless, his single brother can then step in to insure that his brother is not forgotten. In this case, Justin was single and childless, so, why should he not step in and raise his nieces? Particularly since he and his widowed sister-in-law were in love with one another. Of course, his nieces would continue to call him Uncle. (Because that's what he is to them) Any children that Justin and Pamela have will be both half siblings and first cousins to the girls. There is no incest involved. It's an unusual situation, but there's nothing shamefu, illegall or bad about it. 😘
