#Hurricanes Win Stanley Cup 20 Years After First
I don't understand why they fired Cassidy, they are a dumb team. All the defensive problems they had were not corrected
Jordan Staal Selected as 2026 Conn Smythe Trophy Winner
* The Hurricanes (16-3 in 19 GP) had the second-fewest losses by a Stanley Cup winner since 1987 (when all four rounds went best-of-seven) behind the 1988 Oilers (16-2 in 18 GP).
* Jordan Staal captained the Hurricanes to the Stanley Cup 17 years after his first championship with the 2009 Penguins, which marked the most by a player from one title to the next in League history. He bested the previous high set by Chris Chelios (16 from 1986 MTL to 2002 DET).
Mitch whiner he go and complain at the next 4 nations what a prima Donna he is I respect his game
I respect trots great coach he grave Mitch whiner the kick in the ass he needs
From Vegas fans
* Taylor Hall won his first Stanley Cup after being chosen by Edmonton with the No. 1 pick in the 2010 NHL Draft and playing 1,062 career games with seven different franchises across 16 seasons. He had the second-most contests by a No. 1 pick before his first Cup behind Alex Ovechkin, who also clinched his against the Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena with the 2018 Capitals.
* Jaccob Slavin and Seth Jarvis won the Stanley Cup together less than four months after Slavin helped Team USA defeat Jarvis and Team Canada in the gold medal contest at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. Slavin became the second American (ninth from any country) to win the Cup and Olympic gold in the same season following Ken Morrow, who completed the feat with the 1980 Islanders after playing for the “Miracle on Ice” team.
Any comment on Marner and the dark days in the Finals? Is he still clutch in your mind?
* Frederik Andersen and Nikolaj Ehlers became the second and third Danish Stanley Cup winners in NHL history after Lars Eller, who scored the championship-clinching goal against the Golden Knights with the 2018 Capitals. Andersen concluded the postseason with a 13-2 record through 16 appearances (1.89 GAA, .910 SV%, 3 SO).
* Rod Brind'Amour became the fourth individual in NHL history to captain a Stanley Cup winner and then lead that club to another championship as head coach. He joined Toe Blake with the Canadiens (2 as captain, 8 as coach), Hap Day with the Maple Leafs (1 as captain, 5 as coach) and Cooney Weiland with the Bruins (1 as captain, 1 as coach).
W.e dude go live with carter
* Shayne Gostisbehere (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) became the second Florida-born Stanley Cup winner in NHL history after Dan Hinote (2001 COL). Florida is one of eight U.S. states represented among the birthplaces for Hurricanes players that meet engraving criteria (also Jaccob Slavin: Colorado; Mike Reilly: Illinois; Jalen Chatfield: Michigan; K'Andre Miller: Minnesota; Jackson Blake; North Dakota; Eric Robinson: New Jersey; Brandon Bussi: New York), which bested the 2017 and 2016 Penguins (both w/ 7) for the most on a championship roster in NHL history.
* Taylor Hall became the fourth No. 1 pick to score a Stanley Cup-clinching goal alongside Patrick Kane (2010 w/ CHI), Bobby Smith (1986 w/ MTL) and Guy Lafleur (1976 w/ MTL).
When your goalie is allowing 4 goals a night I think it’s the best move to pull him off the ice and let the other one try
* Taylor Hall factored on a series-clinching goal for the third time this postseason, tied with Rod Brind'Amour (3 in 2006) for the second most in a playoff year in Hurricanes/Whalers history behind Cory Stillman (4 in 2006).
* Brandon Bussi posted the ninth Stanley Cup-clinching shutout in the past 50 years and first since Andrei Vasilevskiy did so in consecutive years (2021 TBL & 2020 TBL). The others in that span were by Matt Murray (2017 PIT), Corey Crawford (2015 CHI), Tim Thomas (2011 BOS), Martin Brodeur (2003 NJD), Patrick Roy (1996 COL) and Tom Barrasso (1991 PIT).
* Brandon Bussi joined Bernie Parent (2x; 1975 PHI & 1974 PHI) as the second undrafted goaltender to record a Stanley Cup-clinching shutout (among goaltenders to debut after the first NHL Draft in 1963).
You got luggage waiting for ya in Carolina
* Brandon Bussi became the third goaltender in NHL history to record a Stanley Cup-clinching shutout during their first NHL season (no NHL GP in prior seasons), joining Earl Robertson (Game 5 of 1937 SCF w/ DET) and Andy Aitkenhead (Game 4 of 1933 SCF w/ NYR).
Torts lost his cool, and lost the room, costing the momentum. 60+ years old yet still unable to take a loss professionally. He didn't even bother to answer justified questions like switching the goaltender.
Rod brindamour on the other hand was calm and respected the opponent, especially when on the losing end of games.
Respect others, and respect the game
Well done Canes
* Golden Knights forward Mitch Marner led all players in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs with 29 points (10-19—29 in 22 GP), the fourth player in the NHL’s modern era (since 1944) to finish as the playoff scoring leader during his first season with a franchise. He joined Ryan O'Reilly (2019 Blues), Frank Mahovlich (1971 Canadiens) and Bill Goldsworthy (1968 Minnesota North Stars) on that list.
The Canes were/are a better team, plain and simple. I felt that way from the beginning even though the better doesn't always win. But, they are a more talented team than the Knights and the results showed that.

John Tortorella did NOT “coach” his men to win and it’s as simple as that! LVK literally gave away the Stanley Cup with lack luster no hustle, sloppy play and very foolish & selfish penalties. The End
@poormedayMarner No Gup
Hart No Cup
Tortorella No lCup
Perfect!
😂😂😂
hey Torts, need a ride back to Carolina to get your clothes?????😁
@soxbearshwks8988Game of inches. Eichels crossbar could have changed things. Never know now
@ravet3254hey torts. you have to go get your clothes in carolina. loll
@danielmarleau8544Happy to see Hart and Howden cry.
They made EM cry.
The Knights were awful in the final game ....they played with no desire of a team that needed to win. And it looked like the Canes were allowed to play the center ice TRAP that is suppose to be outlawed and result in a penalty. But the lack of tenacity by the Knights on their home ice that was the team that needed to win was mindboggling. The Canes played like men possessed with smoke coming out of their ears for the entire game. They played like they knew you could not risk a game 7 once you smell blood in the water.
@frreeman1986I'm surprised Tortorella didn't bench Hart, as Hart really struggled in the Finals. But the way game 6 went, it probably wouldn't have mattered.
@rushrush1209The team will be back loaded with talent. Three finals in 9 years not too shabby.
@SusanBaczynskiHe did a great job with what he had to work with. Why would he want to come back. If I was Vegas I would spend the Summer looking for two GOOD defensemen and a goaltender. I'd make any deal Detroit wants to acquire Dylan Larkin. Plus, I'd go to Detroit and see if Joey Kochur has a son that plays hockey. Muscle up.
@rogerredford6242Nice to see him with his tail between his legs....humble pie
@bosox411Not listening/ watching. He doesn't deserve my time.
@Michael-bi4btWhat happened to Game 7 Torts? HaHa Go CANES!!!
@largoguide4930NHL handed Canes Cup , pretty clear after. game two fiasco.
@virgilio1956I came to this video hoping to see chairs flying, F bombs dropping, but instead I got a respectful John Tortorella...what is happening?!?!
@justinmcnally5395So does Torts have to go back to Raleigh to get his clothes from the hotel? 😂
@davex48Respectful interview but somebody needs to send him back his clothes he left at the Raleigh Marriott!
@MarkyMak83Tortorella is and always has been a loser. Fired more times than I can remember. Vegas players should be angry with ownership for the late season coaching change. Hopefully this is the last the fans see of the arrogant Tortorella.
@thomfoster1825so happy this loser didnt win
@FrankMusick-t4iI wanted Vegas all the way grrrrrrrrrrr
@ryanmiller7980Should of took that trade to Carolina Mitch the bitch when you had the opportunity 🤔 🤣 Karma's awesome 👌
@ScarbroskiNeeds a good quick round trip red eye to Carolina to get his clothes that he left back.
@stevensmith1911Canes checked Vegas into the ice. Well earned Cup win.
@funkycoldzadinaRIP Torts clothes.
@IfuckedyourmombitchTorts needs to go back to Raleigh and get his clothes from his hotel room he said he left there. He is all mouth and anger. You lost.
@ToddRocker871Rod >>>>
@EverlastingCorpseTime to go away John
@frankpanico7613Wow. I have never heard Torts speak like that. Class act.
@tomdicker299You better get your clothes back from Carolina
@ZabiAnwari-z1mSeriously...WTF is this with hockey players and now coaches putting a "Y" at the end of people's names? He says, "I have a tremendous amount of respect for Rod(dy) and his staff. What are you a child...It's not Roddy MacDowell, it's Rod Brind'amour. LOL And for years "ROD" has had his team fighting for a Cup. Coaches the way he played! Congrats! The embodiment of what hockey should be in an otherwise soft world. Vegas should also be proud. Great run.
@JonGabrielleIt will be very interesting next season with Panthers coming back and Oilers possibly looking better. Avs probably also in better form into the playoffs instead of chasing the presidents.
@RaumanceTorts is going back to his life back east with his wife, extended family, his farm and his animals. To coach a team out west is too far from home.
@PreachermanmediaCalgary scored in 04 Torts
@GOES211Edmonton should hire Tortorella and Babcock
@matthewchristie7712Good riddance
@andrewcrenshaw8093I wonder if Torts will go to Raleigh and celebrate with them when he goes to his hotel to gather his things lol
@CccD-66Someone will throw his dirty ass clothes in the garbge,😂you suck😄
@dirtydeeds-66So where is Game 7 Tort promised?
@SpacebarWASDWe need an AI version of this...
@SpacebarWASDI can assure you the honeymoon will be over next year and if they keep him they miss playoffs next year
@jonnytango2801What John should have learned is that a change in goalie was the catalyst for the win and the loss.
