My theory is that they are living in a limbo, an infinite cycle, and the timeline we played isn't the first or the last. Probably the cycle started during WW1 timeline. That's why we are in a modern city, a city drowned in water for years they have these grenades and cannons to protect against these evil creatures, and we see the war outside probably against the creatures and the humans who got infected taking over the world.
These kids are trying to get out of the limbo.

I thought it was a sacrificial ritual to end the war and famine. Not because she was a bad omen, but that makes sense. Also, yeah I connected the overflowing well was the reason for the flooded world. The ending symbolizes the sacrifice to end the war and famine and my personal theory is that she became a vessel for a sort of god or something like a god. Not sure. But that's what I was thinking.

honestly I think kids were doing rituals, there were 6 of them so 5 of them were looking down a well at one that got sacrificed, this one kid turned into a sheep, now it’s the girls turn, she is the one to be sacrificed, now there are 4 kids looking down the well and she will turn into a giant rabbit

Based on the uniforms, helmets, and trenches, its not WW2 its WW1. The uniforms are much older looking and less protected, the helmets have a flat rim that don't protect the head fully, that is only found in WW1 helmets. WW2 was mainly mobilized warfare, they had trench warfare but it wasn't the main point of WW2. And the tank! The tank is very WW2-ish, but tanks like the one shown in Reanimal were Allied tanks.
