FREYA Interceptor: Why Ukraine Outpaced NATO

Video Overview & Insights

Ukraine is running out of Patriot interceptors faster than the West can supply them — so a four-year-old Ukrainian company founded by engineers and game designers just completed the first maneuvering flight test of their own ballistic missile interceptor, the Freyja FP-7X.

At the beginning of WW2 there were still biplanes in front line service. By the end there were jets. War is great for advances.

— @georgedavidson957

Then they signed a partnership with German radar firm Hensoldt to build the full system around combat-proven technology already running in Ukraine's IRIS-T batteries.

The country that was supposed to be the customer is now drawing the blueprint for Europe's next-generation missile shield.

Glory to Ukraine. Glory to the heroes. Crimea is Ukraine.

I love the Jobu clip, Fun Fact; the war in Ukraine started when they drank Jobu's rum!!!!!

At this point I would not be surprised if Ukraine paraded nuclear armed missiles through Kyiv within a few years.

How interesting. EU might be paying Ukraine to join soon. With its own independent European nukes, army and supplies, Russia, the US, might be inclined to behave. The Russians should be returned to their pre WW2 borders too and learn to be a nation and not an eighteenth empire. Bonuses for those in Konigsberg to return and also encouragement to Russians in the ME to decolonise off back to whence they were whelped.

That's the best thing Ukraine (and Europe) can do for themselves is to eliminate their reliance on the U.S.

Great, then they will finally be able to fight their own wars. About time… we need to stop backing losers like Ukraine and Israel, or anyone else.

See?
Nobody needs to be involved with the fascist theocracy of America. Kick them out of NATO.

Ukraine gets billions of Europe to build there stuff, those billions could also spent to upgrade Europe's defense, Europe can't do this at the same time.

They outpaced because they are at war - just look at the pace of development in both ww1 and 2.

I wonder how much they are paying you. I recall your cover of French "las cannons" a blatent lie.
But hey, it makes you money confirming biases. Dems, the turd that doesn't flush.
Kyiv can't destroy 1/3 of incoming Russian explosives, but hey, they have an improved, better, cheaper AAA.
Sure... Lies= money

I follow a lot of channels relating to Ukraine, only good ones. But on virtually all of them I speed a long a bit, whizzing forward because they drag a little, there 10 mins of information in a 30 minute video. Wes, let me tell you, I never find anywhere to skim on yours, it's all worthwhile, no padding. Do you spend a lot of time culling, making a precis, or you naturally not a waffler?

EVERY post about the war should have the strap line "every day Russia commits war crimes targeting civilians" included. Notice that Ukraine is targeting industrial facilities, not apartment blocks like the russians have throughout the war.

If Ukraine can build Freya and perfect it, this would be huge. All of the countries that are grudgingly begging the U.S. for patriots, would drop their orders and start sourcing from Ukraine. It could jump start Ukraines emerging role as a major player in global defense tech.

This is how weapon development used to work: countries at war have an interest in innovation and need quick results. They make it happen. Look at how fast technological development was during WW2! It slowed down during the Cold War, but it was still there. Since the end of the Cold War, all innovation has mostly been about careers and corporate contracts, not about effectiveness.

@MartijnVos
@

Need is but the best innovation motivator, wars have always pushed that to the limit.

@mikael2670

Ukrainian engineering intelligence seems to have no limits. Of course wars always drive change and technical progress, but Ukraine is doing impressively well amid Russian bombing and killing! Europe is very fortunate to have gotten a new member, that drives change and progress at a tremendous speed. When this war is over, Europe will have gotten a new member, that knows how to fight modern wars, drive industrial change at a completely new pace and has shown courage, resilience and smarts. Putin has lost the war and knows it by now. Let's help Ukraine finish them off. Slava Ukraine! Heroyam Slava!

Not many Western countries were so blatant about stepping away from US military gear before Biden and Trump. 1. US is not ready for future conflicts and war. 2. US is no longer thought of as a reliable military partner and ally. 3 Will our next president and congress continue to ignore a world that increasingly wants to attack America and more American friends and allies become less so?

@BruceGlover-z2j
@

The main challenge will be in the software. Putting together the 3 things does not mean that the system will be able to stop a missile..

@dorins3787
@

Short answer: because they had to. Ukraine doesn't have the luxury of wasting years in planing, bidding, negotiations. They had to solve the problem now

@jorelplay8738
@

Ukraine do not give any details of this new missile to the US because tRUMP
will sell and hand it right over to his master Putin!
Show the US and tRUMP nothing! Henry Kissinger was right when he said these words…”To be an enemy of America can be dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal"

@orestwitiw213
@

Truth is the first casualty of war. NATO is not officially at war with Russia. So propaganda wise it's conviniant to put a Ukrainian sticker on that Costco missile.

@BobLéponge-j5v

Having a neighbour like Russia forces a country to either be it's pet or develop weapons and strategy specifically tuned to fight Russia. That's why the Scandinavians have such weapons systems. Ukraine weren't starting from zero in 2014 or 2022. An ecosystem in which the USA has no interest is making it increasingly irrelevant, which is exactly what Putin wants. The USA is losing leverage and therefore influence in Europe. We are also kicking their civilian technology out as well.

@latexrope1358

Ukraine has no production line for the infrared targeting system. Its delivered by Diehl defence systems.

Like 99 % of all other components are delivered by European partners, like Norway.

So this concept and most likely the blueprints as well is a Norwegian concept and oh wonder it's integratable with the Norwegian Kongsberg system.

Ukraine is a 3rd world country masquerading as superpower.

Europeans not under attack dont try frame it as somehow Ukraine has had upper hand its under attack and the things that would be there in peace time (committees) has been thrown out the window and as your videos have shown some countries have and do help Ukraine make these items , Ukraine hasn't just on its own made these items tech from the UK for one has given them loads of tech knowlege to help them do stuff the USA have restricted them from , this is not to say no one else has done the same , im just point that fact out , but your coming across like unkraine has don't all they have done all alone , not so , plenty of idea's have been born from UK forces and let them crack on making them .. as im sure has other countries i just don't know who or where from ..

It's amazing how identification, design, development and implementation speeds up when there is a tiger snapping at your backside. They've got something to use and it will continue to improve as it's short comings become apparent through continuous development

The Freya could possibly become a good SAM, but even if it meets expectations, it still won't be anything near either version of Patriot. There's a reason why Germany is making 600 PAC-2 GEM-T missiles for Ukraine & that Ukraine is in process of getting license from U.S. administration to build PAC-3 MSE missiles in Ukraine. Freya isn't in same class. They'd like it to be hit to kill, like PAC-3, but it's really not fast enough, at 1500-2000 km/h. Pac-3 is 6170 km/h & PAC-2 is 5630 km/h. That's why they built 150 kg warhead into Freya, in case it can't manage hit to kill on ballistic targets. A smart move. PAC -2 uses similar warhead. Freya will still be very useful, especially as eventual compliment to Patriots.
