Forest company Interfor relocates to the US as lumber industry faces tariffs

I don’t think Global News has digging deep enough to understand the real business motives of why interfor moving their HQ to Georgia but keeping 3 sawmills in BC. If there are only red tapes but no advantages operating in BC, why keep the 3 sawmills running?

Carney set the precedent and now serves as the role model for other companies. The plan is working.

Any company moving operations to the USA should lose access to Canadian resources and the government can seize them as Crown resources.

They need to get out of the way. 21 lumber mills and 2 major pulp mills shutdown in BC in the last 3 years. Trump wasn't even president then. Who pumped up our provincial and federal debt when we didn't have trump to blame.

Boycott Interfor products. Prohibit them from access to forestry licenses anywhere in Canada, and Tariff their products.

Interfor created their own conditions using BC's corruption.

Ah yes, deregulation, because that has worked out so magnificently everywhere it has been tried. We have seen deregulated banking, deregulated energy, deregulated media, deregulated environmental protection, and now the United States has somehow managed to produce a deregulated president. Yet Global keeps handing the microphone to corporate forestry executives so they can blame “red tape” for every problem, as though publicly owned Crown land exists solely to provide private companies with cheap fibre and guaranteed profits. Apparently, when corporations succeed, it is entrepreneurial brilliance; when they relocate closer to their American operations, it is suddenly British Columbia’s fault for having regulations. Perhaps Global could try journalism next time and ask which protections these corporate geniuses want removed, who absorbs the environmental and financial liability afterward, and why the public should keep cleaning up every mess created by their brilliant experiments in deregulation.
