Cuanto más se estudia la historia del dinero, más se comprende que el "dinero" en realidad no es oro, plata ni papel impreso, sino la confianza aceptada por la sociedad.

The 10 minute history of money is 11 minutes long on account of inflation. Somehow George Soros is to blame.

According to the quantity theory of money, if the amount of money in an economy doubles, all else equal, price levels will also double.

WHY????? GREED!!!

Crazy to think money started with seashells and now it’s digital code! Loving this history – I’m exploring similar topics at ExplainFi too!

I think the US should try and go back to the 1973 gold standard era and prior of backing money with gold or some other precious metal something that has some form of substance and physical value and never go full bit coin (what good is a bunch 0’s and 1’s on a screen it’s the most fake, absurd and useless form of currency I’ve ever heard of plus if there’s a power outage how is the world supposed to function without physical cash) even paper money has much more value than that but should still be backed by something a bit more rare such as metal or gold. Overall though it would be cool if society could revert back to a time where goods and services were exchanged on a small local scale between neighbors in a small area but unfortunately most of society is too developed and we need and rely on places thousands of miles away to supply us with parts and products for everyday pretty much necessities such as AC units, food, clothes even water is controlled from afar but it would be cool if society as a whole started to revert back to putting more value on gardening, sewing and having more time to support oneself and local communities without relying so heavily on the “almighty dollar” because that’s all what really has value food and water is all what people really need. People need more free time and less work to support themselves and their families, more time to go outside and be active and feed themselves with nutritional good fruits and veggies that hasn’t been sprayed with a bunch of chemicals, good water that isn’t heavily chlorinated or fluoride packed, and freedom, no micro governing of HOA neighborhoods who say you can’t have chickens or a garden if you want it’s sad what society deems as valuable today everyone is brainwashed into thinking currency has value when it really just doesn’t food, water and freedom to do what you want with your life is the ultimate form of value our tax dollars should be put towards better water and food. Pesticides should be banned and fake sugar and ingredients, and people should not be overly taxed on everything.

By what social mechanism does a whale's tooth pass for a credible proof of debt? This seems very prone to scams.

What "intrinsic worth" does gold have? US dollars are backed by the tax revenue streams of the United States government; and that has been a "real" (if not mighty) stream for a very long time.
And Chinese paper was replaced by Silver, not gold (for which they never had any) back in the 1300's-1400's.
And the so-called "gold standard" of the 1960's-to-early 70's was a ruse-fake-lie.
"Linden dollars" may be somebody's idea of "money", but they are certainly not a (viable) "currency".
Mn.10- is "portable" supposed to mean "easy to use"? How easy are "cryptos" to use, vs. a credit card? Seriously, blokes, anything that's going to be a currency has to have some meaningufl facility and mass volume.
Yes currencies (that you've heard of) always have been and always will be based on tax revenues coming in.

Roman Gold Dinaar and Persian Silver Dirham will replace the Petrodollar and checkmate Gog and Magog. They won't be able to wage bogus wars in the middle east and crude oil barrels will be traded only for gold and silver coins. That is Gog and Magog in checkmate mode.

Sooooo... money is fake and was created for power. Before money people just took care of each other. I get it now. If governments can just print money whenever they need more, then they don't need my taxes. BEAUTIFUL! No more need for taxes!

How did the debt get smaller?

@victorrorisang479

I'm afraid that the fractional reserve theory has been proven to be wrong. Banks simply create money out of thin air when they make a loan and record this at their central bank - nothing to do with deposits. Prof. Richard Werner has some very good videos explaining this.
