The Fédération Internationale de Football Association, or FIFA, is the worldwide governing body for association football, or soccer in some countries.

The organization was founded in 1904 to oversee international competition among the national associations of Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Being based in Zürich, Switzerland, its membership now comprises 211 national associations. These national associations must each also be members of one of the six regional confederations into which the world is divided: Africa (CAF), Asia (AFC), Europe (UEFA), North & Central America (CONCACAF), Oceania (OFC) and South America (CONMEBOL).

FIFA outlines a number of objectives in the organizational Statutes, including the game of football internationally, providing efforts to ensure it is accessible to everyone, and advocating for integrity and fair play. It is responsible for the organization and promotion of football's major international tournaments, most notably the FIFA World Cup; which commenced in 1930, and especially its women's counterpart, which started in 1991. Although FIFA does not solely set the laws of the game, that being the responsibility of the International Football Association Board of which FIFA is a member, it applies and enforces the rules across all FIFA competitions.

The official anthem for FIFA was composed by German organist Franz Lambert, and was re-arranged and produced by Rob May and Simon Hill. It is rang out at the beginning of FIFA-sanctioned matches and tournaments as well as international friendlies, being heard usually at the moment when the participants enter the playing field.
