Got ideas? Great, give them to us NOW!

MH World isn't even in the top half of games, it was mass - marketed and targeted at a western audience, and it succeeded there. World is where "Monster Fighter / Slayer" began, fundamentally removing almost everything that made MH games special. It achieves what it aims to do, put MH through a "western - normie" gamer filter.

Reminds me a lot of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion in WoW. Mass marketing (Arthas baby), massive emphasis on making the game easier to get into while removing a ton of "friction". There was a clear goal to make each franchise far more relevant to the mainstream, and you know what? It WAS a terrific launch point for new players.

But when you ignore that aspect of it, you start to see the cracks. WotLK like World, is where they started removing core aspects of the game in favor of "convenience". These entries represent a fundamental point of no - return. When you hear most World or WotLK babies (I don't mean that negatively, just a nod to their first experiences) talk about their love for these games, they almost never give you a "reason". That's not to say that the games don't excel at certain things (Arthas presence and class design in Wrath, Worlds environments etc.), but it sort of reveals how much these games beloved status comes from well, novelty.

World, like WotLK, represents discovering the respective franchise for so many. They gain a unique "novelty" advantage.

Wilds not at the bottom though? Its genuinely awful, having almost no resemblance to the franchise. You just look at the flashy visuals, follow the arrow and bully "monsters" without seeing half their mechanics.

Good list but I would put Wilds in second place and World forever be the BEST MH game!💯😎🙏

Ugh...Monster Hunter 3RD on PSP is the first and only installment I've played to date.

It was a very difficult game for me, completely incomprehensible due to the fact that my version was in English mixed with Japanese (considering I don't speak either), and the game itself is also difficult. At the very least, the second stick is sorely lacking; I still can't get past some wyvern. Although I did kill the bear, it was my first major challenge.

When it comes to gameplay and music vocals sunbreak hands down and I'm an old school veteran but my favorite of all equals freedom 2 United and 3 ultimate😊

wilds is by far the worst monster hunter game imo. Wilds is just too easy, came out with heavy performance issues while i have the best PC on the market and couldnt even run the game properly before the recent performance patch fix, wounds makes everything a cake-walk which they are finally pulling back on, the added auto-move on mounts makes environments more of a background that something immersive (i loved how in old MH games and esp world you are forced to learn the maps through navigation that you become 100% knowledgable on the area and can explore it without a map while enjoying the flora and fauna of the environments), there has been barely any content updates in wilds and when they did release it would be a hunt that can be beaten in 6 minutes. "difficulty" is making monsters (tempered) do more damage and attack so often that it becomes a hit once and run away game at that point which brings me to my next point: most weapons in the game in challenging content becomes pretty much not fun because of how aggressive and much they attack and the damage because of it (so you see less greatswords, switch-axes, kinsect) and more dual blades, hunting horns and any lance/longsword with quick-sheathe. Omega savage, for example, was almost unkillable without dual daggers to stop him from going into his super. The environments dont have good/memorable music compared to previous titles and bare in mind there was no gathering hub on wilds release. I start MH with world, played rise but dropped it because didnt want to play on a switch then played all of gen ultimate and played most of frontiers and as much as I want to love wilds and i was gagging for a "Monster Hunter World 2".. it disappointed me hard and I hope the DLC brings it back to the glory it deserves.

People who said Wilds is dead are wrong, the game still got support and update all the way to 2027. It controls perfect and enjoy it even if i have only played a few games in the franchise.

Putting rise above wilds is insane, world does deserve the top spot though I actually agree with 4 being second too

The controls for the first game are so bad.

Maybe I just missed them but… where are Tri and Base 4? Normally I would just assume we’re leaving off the Japan only games but Portable 3rd and base 2 are here so, where is 4? Tri is even mentioned during the 3U segment and that’s game isn’t Japan only. That’s just a mainline game being left out lmao
