Eminem: The Making Of Relapse | Documentary

Video Overview & Insights

In 2009, Eminem returned to the music world with one of the most controversial, ambitious, and misunderstood albums of his career: Relapse. After years away from the spotlight and a near-fatal prescription drug addiction, Eminem was forced to rebuild his life, rediscover his creativity, and find his place in hip-hop once again. This 1-hour documentary tells the complete story behind the album that marked his comeback.

21:25 he still nailed his verse on you don't know

— @simplemarketeronline

We take a deep dive into Eminem's life leading up to Relapse, exploring his struggles with addiction, his recovery process, and the personal challenges he faced after one of the darkest periods of his life. We examine how his relationship with Dr. Dre helped shape the album, the recording sessions that reignited their legendary chemistry, and the creative direction that made Relapse unlike anything else in Eminem's catalog.

This documentary also explores the making of the album's biggest singles, its commercial performance, first-week sales, chart success, critical reception, and the mixed reactions it received from fans and critics. Through exclusive interviews, rare insights, and extensive research, we uncover the full story behind the project and the era surrounding it.

1 of his best albums for serial killer fans like me anyway 😂🍻👍🏻

— @lad4702

We also dive into one of the biggest "what if" moments in Eminem's career: Relapse 2. Learn how an entire sequel album was developed, why Eminem ultimately decided to move away from the Relapse concept, and how those sessions eventually evolved into Recovery. From the music and the controversy to the legacy the album holds today, this documentary covers every chapter of the Relapse era.

Whether you believe Relapse is an underrated masterpiece or a flawed but fascinating chapter in Eminem's career, this is the complete story of the album, the comeback, and the artist behind it.

Déjà vu is the best song on there I relate so much

My favorite part of Relapse is actually ... the interviews he did around it. Watching interviews before he chose sobriety for himself is painful, because you can see the glints amazing intelligence just buried under substance abuse, where you could see the moments of clarity in his eyes but the thoughts just couldn't find their way out - obviously yes, it showed in his music on his earlier works, but he'd numbed himself out the rest of the time. Thank you for the extensive un-narrated interviews!

2:55 The 4 Year Hiatus

I love the song, Beautiful. In the late eighties I drove thru downtown Detroit and told my brother that these are the coolest streets made of brick. I was driving on the sidewalks. I was shocked to see how things had went down because my uncle used to work at the Ford factory and it was so nice when I was a kid. Prayers for Detroit and all of America!!!

46:41 Eminem On Being Back On Stage

47:28 The Accents

I literally grew up on Eminem so when this album came out I was really excited. Some of the accents threw me off a little but I was so impressed with the rhyming and songs like Beautiful and Deja vu kinda made it more grounded. I wish he didn't take a hard left in production shortly after this because his signature sound faded when he stopped working with Bass Brothers and using less of Dre's production.

После альбома The Eminem Show можно было заканчивать карьеру и ничего не выпускать так как всё что вышло после это мусор🚮. Сколько авторов пишут артисту текст для песни.

I really love Relapse. The history of him making this album is quite interesting to look into. Especially when looking at how Relapse 2 was supposed to come out at the end of 2009 before things shifted and Recovery was made. Great video man, hope you’re doing well, have a great day and take care!

Relapse is actually the album that got me into Eminem 😂 I was in 11th grade in high school my classmate gave me a blank cd 💿 with black words called “relapse “ I didn’t have internet or anything like that at the time, so I was bored after school I was like let me listen to this album, mind you I was aware of Eminem since I was in elementary school but I never listened to him like that mostly just heard the singles like real slim shady etc, but long story short once I listened to relapse I immediately had my mother buy me all his early albums and even eight mile dvd 📀 😅been a fan since loved this album.

His most underrated darkest album. Horrorcore theme at its best, tracks like 3am, same song and dance, stay wide awake, medicine ball, deja vu are amazing. Plus its Dr Dres best production
