Disney's Pricing Problem Just Got Worse!

i love my neice but told my sister i'm not paying $199 to enter a disney park to celebrate her birthday... i will however use that same $199 to go or enter any other location

They need to be like Costco

I live in the Los Angeles area, and my parents couldn't afford to take me to disneyland throughout my childhood years post 2007. The first time I had actually been to disneyland was when I was thirteen, and while I enjoyed it, it wasn't the same experience people would laud about having as a 5 year old kid. Everything is priced higher than it should be, and our biggest complaint as a family was in fact the removal of the free fast pass system. If Disney continues to price out the lower class, I don't know how they'll sustain the following of the less fortunate. They're not granting them the opportunity to attend and make memories. There's children around me that have never been to disneyland, and they live just thirty minutes away same as me. While a kid in say, Colorado, has better living circumstances and can take the trip. In 2026, Knott's Berry Farm is truly the theme park of choice for families following a budget in this area, Disney just isn't a realistic option for that group anymore.

I used to love disney world. Pre pandemic it was so much fun to go. After the pandemic, they monetized all of the freebies that made going to the park worthwhile.

They took away fast pass and made you pay for it.

They took away magic hours if you stayed on property.

They took away the airport shuttle, which with such a nice perk.

They committed to raising their prices and squeezing every dollar out of every person. And the parks got more crowded and service levels went down and it became a nightmare!

There is no amount of money that will get me through the disney gates on either coast. I feel used and abused, and I don't allow that.In my life. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere and get a truly premium experience for those dollars.

Disney's downfall cannot come soon enough to suit me!

Brickey - this conversation is late. Way late. I essentially agree with every point you make, but its so weird to hear it in July '26. Those feelings are old and they're why my family won't know Disneyland like I did. On the flip side, there are so many sweet vacation opportunities in this beautiful nation; should I thank Disney for helping see that?! Disappointing for Walt. 👍

As a kid who grew up with frugal parents, I’ve never purchased much of the food. Maybe a churro or a water bottle, but with hours long lines, huge crowds and hot weather, who wants a huge meal anyway? Eat before you go, bring water/ snacks. Enjoy the rides

I loved Disneyland growing up and went a few times a year, especially when they had the SoCal resident ticket. The last time I went was underwhelming. The park was so crowded, everything was so expensive, and I spent so much time navigating the app that it broke the illusion of being the happiest place on earth. You can no longer go to the park and see where the day takes you. It’s lost some of its magic.

Disneyland is a $$$$$ pit, very similar to a scam. Cost to park, food, gifts, them park...save your money. Things are about to get rougher for families. The ones who will show up are the ones with a cash flow and can spend. That's the new focus. They give A rats A** if you can afford it or not. Very similar on how they treat its employees. Lightly insulting a few claim...that's because your use to paying the high cost.

Of course the more disgruntled ones among us are inspired to comment. I went last year and found it acceptable. Probably because I have a bit of money in the bank. It also helped that Chewbacca walked by me and touched me on the arm creating a magic moment that I still talk about.

Once I got you inside, they can charge you whatever they want. That’s how they rip you off.

I still go to Disney world. Fast food has got so much more expensive it makes a hot dog at Casey’s look viable. I’m a local. The value is better. Sea world food is so much more expensive than Disney and universal.

As for universal, to get fastpass for epic universe, you no longer get comp for staying at partofino or other deluxe resort for epic universe but only the first two parks. I think they did this when they realised Disney was still charging deluxe resort guests full price for lightning lane so universal made everyone pay full price for express regardless of if you’re at a value, deluxe or off property.

This isn’t just theme parks as you said, this is full on and transcends all industries. Everyone feels free to ask us for more but when we do it, they can’t afford it.

Your points are exactly why my husband and I didn't renew our magic keys this year, the value is no longer there. This last year whenever we went it was a battle to even get a reservation, the parks were always crowded no matter what day of the week it was, and it felt like everything we could or want to do costs extra money. All the lines are too long so if we wanted to ride something we'd have to buy a lightning lane. Fine, if we didn't want to do that what else could we do? Eat food that is overpriced? Shop for overpriced merch? Most of the shows were gone or the buildings were down for renovation. So what? A parade? That we've already seen multiple times because there was nothing else to do? The magic was gone. We were paying big money to just walk around for an hour or 2 and go home. For the amount of money we spent each year with our magic key keys we could have just flown to another country and visited a Disney park there. It is going to take a lot for me to spend my money at Disneyland ever again. The magic, trust, and respect is gone.

disneyland is all about money. they lost their magic so many years ago. what you said here i agree 100%. i can afford to go but will never go because the value is not there anymore. i rather spend my thousands on something that has so much more value to me.

Disney used to make it feel magical with every touch point feeling like they went above and beyond, now it just feels like they have weekly meetings about how much they can take away while charging more. They've been turning the screws for years and no longer do they treat us like customers to be wooed, but like wallets that owe them money.

Forget being a patron of Disney, be a shareholder instead. Let Disney fans spend their money.

I think Disney executives don't have to care. They know people will still come and spend the money even if they have to take out credit card loans. Also keep in mind there are enough very well off people to keep Disney going.

Popcorn at Tokyo Disney is about $2.50. Don’t waste your time or money at the US parks.

@HeyBrickey Yes! Visited WDW since 81 once or twice per year with my family. When I had children in the early 2000's, we continued the family love of Disney. Skip forward to post covid and decided we no longer saw value in visiting WDW from the North East. Flights, no more magical express, magic bands, ticket hikes, food hikes, rides seemingly breaking down more, the parks DEFINITELY not as clean; so many things added to feeling like we were being nickel and dimed instead of appreciated for loyalty and continued visits. The cost became so cost-prohibitive compared to an international vacation where you could experience new cultures and new food, etc. that visiting the place that gave me so many "feels" as a child was overshadowed by Shareholder greed. I still watch WDW content (like yours) and am interested in what happens, but we have not(since '22) and won't be spending our money at WDW any time soon. Something will need to change and I don't know if they will ever go back to making us feel like they used to.

Im an adult with no kids. You would have to pay me to go to a Disney property and maybe not even then.

I've been a passholder for over 10 years. I love Disneyland but the fun is fading. I might just let my passes expire this year or lower it to the bottom, most inexpensive tier. I'll figure it out.

Been going to Disneyland for decades. Usually once or twice a year. It has not been the same since Covid time. No Hyperion theater show, no show at the Golden Horseshoe, no sweepers drawing with water on the sidewalks. All the extras that made Disneyland Disneyland have been disappearing, and the rides are constantly broken. Meanwhile the prices are going up and up. Don't get me started on the whole Lightning Lane, pay to play scheme. Can I afford it? Sure I can, but my kids with their families can't. Now instead of Disneyland, we go to the lake for a couple weeks and use the surfboat. Great family fun without someone constantly reaching in your wallet. (other than the boat gas, but still way cheaper than Disney). BTW Love your videos. It makes me long for when Disney cared about the experience. I still love Disney and so do my wife and kids, but now it will be a every 4 or 5 year thing.

Disney is in a jam. Their stock has been on long downward trajectory and market cap tanking. Companies need to profit higher each earnings more than the last. Disneys current park model is to soak everyone with micro transactions and vastly inflated prices on everything once they entice you in the door. No tourists from Asia or Europe due to economic reasons is forcing Disney to soak the locals for lost cash.

Hi Brickey, here's a suggestion for a new Vlog. (Lack Of) Disney Maintenance Yesterday (July 21, 2026) I rode Space Mountain, approximately around 9:00pm. Never before in the history of my ridership on Space Mountain have I "heard" the roller coaster train wheels squeeking, wobbling, vibrating. This was a very distinct and audible noise. Shame on Disney.

First off, we are blessed to be able to afford it. Used to go to DLR 3 times a year and a least once a year to WDW, FL. Now we only go to Disneyland because its drivable, and about once every other year now. My dollars go further with other types of trips. We no longer go to WDW. between the airfare and 6-day package price it was about the same as our 10 Day Alaska cruise last September. Keep in mind on a cruise basic food and drink is included.
They have gotten A LOT of my money over the years, guess they don't want it anymore.

We quit going to Disneyland! Finding ways to take all our hard earned money for a completely overcrowded park removes the joy of being there.

The prices going up in conjunction with the entertainment and perks going down feels, yes, less than magical. I can also say that the reservation system has really slowed the tap of spending on my family's part. I don't appreciate having to make such an effort to give them my money. Oh, well. I hope you are aware that when unions squeeze the business and now the businesses prices are going up it's all tied together.

my wife and i were just saying that since we have cancelled our top tier season passes for a family of 3 along with hotel stays on property (usually grand californian or disneyland hotel) and all the new merch that would drop from ears to shirts to cheap plastic popcorn buckets we now easily have an extra $15-20,000 a year to spend on other vacations to places that give us what we pay for. it became so expensive that only our wealthy friends or family members would join us. or it was only for a birthday once every other year. and i went to disneyland for the first time in 1982 and had an AP ever since(minus the pandemic shutdown time period and a few years out of state for college) my children will never know the joy i had as a kid because i refuse to give disneyland my money because they overspent on acquisitions of star wars and pixar disney+ etc etc.

We've already passed that point, a decade ago. They will have to halve their prices across the board. At least. On everything. The world will not come here, not for decades.

I should have not been surprised, but what is your guys's thoughts on and how much parking should be for an amusement park and what does that?

That's the boat I'm in. I live in NorCal and had to give up my annual pass a couple months ago, partly because of Disney's price gouging and partly because of Southwest's and the hotels'

There are so many cute REAL main streets that need our support, not mega corporations that don't give a rip about you, their employees, or their community. I'd rather spend my dollars locally, where each purchase is an investment in a local business, an entrepreneur family, artisans, craftspeople...

I was just at California adventure last Tuesday. I was shocked on how much it cost to be able to get water and also get soda. I spent almost $20 for water and soda plus I thought the water went for $9 for a tiny water was not worth my money
