One thing that helps me as a referee, especially if I do a lot of games , is that I take an hour break after two games to stretch and relax and get something to eat when I do 12 games in a weekend for a tournament. Stretching helps me as I am able to run a lot more.

I’m also a soccer ref in the italian association. I started about 1 month ago as a 14 year old. It pays about 36-116 euros per match depending on the distance.

Also, I have a pair of black Nikes that are strictly for Refereeing. I only wear them when I do games. By doing this, they last me 3-4 seasons.

I always bring lunch with me and I keep it in my bag. My leagues don’t give referees food because we travel all over the place

@okekechukwudi2391For newer referees, ask for a Mentor who can help teach you some things. Get on games with experienced referees and finally the best part is that as your get more experienced, you can buy new toys. I have the Vanishing spray and headsets

@bestcity0979Thats cool. But one thing I wanted to ask is that what country are you in? Because you can drive at 16 so thats why I'm asking. In my country it's easy to become a ref. You just go to an official training and you'll be assigned to games.

@ravenschampionGood job kid! I started back when I was your age and you can make some serious cash while having fun. But do yourself a favor and invest in a nice pair of cleats, you feet and back will thank you later.

@RaidShadowLegendsHaternice, i refereed from when i was 9 to 24 loved every day of it. I finished as a State Referee which doesnt exist anymore lol. If you wana make great money you certainly can, doing college you could make 4-600 dollars a game easy, D1 paid even more. Usually travel fee is where the money is at with those games though. Great opportunity if you like Refereeing, try testing up when you can. Some advice if you decide to test up,
1) Tuck in your shirt, its an easy one to do and adds to looking the part
2) Show up on earlier than the on time show, use that time to set the tone with the coaches.
3) I know its cold outside, if you can get yourself some long sleeve jersey's and see if you can fit some warm clothes under that.. the good thing is your jacket is black so most will let that slide :).
