Thank you. This was an excellent way of describing what you're going to be in for. No Thanks ! It's a very pleasing looking community, but that's where it ends for me. It's a positive that everybody has to keep they're properties up. But it's a negative for me if I'm spending 6-7 figures on a home where my neighbor can hear me sneeze. Don't take this personal, but this for someone who enjoyed school, the structure, and didn't get enough of it. I want space, privacy , i want to occasionally play the radio loud, work on my car with the garage door open , but i definitely don't want to hear the bounce of a basketball, the sound of a school bus or children playing in my yard because one yard is not big enough. An HOA deciding what you can and can't have on your own property doesn't sound like you've earned your spot in adulthood. Thanks again, this was eye-opening and time saving. Nice job! Thank you for putting this out.

We've lived in Summerlin for 21 years and absolutely love it here. We live on a quiet cul-de-sac, away from the major streets so no traffic noise to deal with. We haven't been to the Strip in over 7 years as we have to local Rampart Casino, and Suncoast (yuck), as our local playground. Everything we need is within just a couple of miles and the people are friendly enough. No major crime in our area, which is a huge plus.

Everyone in Summerlin has their kids go to private schools if they possibly can. CCSD ( the public school district ) is currently in a tie with Detroit for the worst large urban school district in the nation. Nevada state schools are ranked 49th place. Last year, they had over 300 incidents of students bringing weapons to school and it's not uncommon to see guards at schools in full body armor. There are currently over 1000 vacancies for teachers and they are simply not paying enough to find people to fill them, as people leave and their state teacher education program (there are only two state universities in Nevada) is turning out too few replacements. Just be aware that moving to Las Vegas has never been "family friendly" and the schools remain one of the worst things about living here.
IF you can solve this issue, by lining up a private school ahead of time, then by all means, consider moving here. But the number of people who move here and are simply unaware of the #1 issue with the city and have their kids wrecked by being tossed into a title 1 school (which almost all of the public schools are) are too numerous to mention. The realtors and everyone else will tell you that this school in Henderson or Summerlin is "great", but in reality, they are comparing a F- school to a D+ school (of which there are only about 4 or 5 total). That's the literal actual spread in quality with CCSD currently. Not a single school is near the quality of any random city in the Midwest, like Peoria or any city in the Northwest, like Eugene.
IMO, the title should be "If you can find a private school, move to Vegas" Otherwise, stay home or move elsewhere.

Sounds absolutely abhorrent. I lived there many years ago. I had so many people running around and shooting guns into the air and threatening everyone else. The east/northeast side up to Nellis is much better for families and homes that are new. Don’t even bother with summerlin. We don’t like you and stay away from our gated communities. You aren’t worthy enough to live in this horrific nightmare that’s called Summerlin. Try and find an apartment by the stratosphere.

I worked at a matress store in Summerlin many years ago...they drive really expensive cars ...BMW Mecedes etc...looking to buy a $500 matress....centenars living like multi-millionares...super pretentious at It's finest!
