Classic TV Theme: House Calls (two versions)

Just stumbled on this show and personally the season one theme music is better than 2.. If anyone has access to season 3 post it.. Meanwhile I’m trying to find full episodes??? I loved watching David Wayne as Digger Barnes on Dallas and Blanche Devereaux’s Daddy.Meantime I’m suddenly craving a Weight Watchers frozen meal. 😃☝️

We love the first version of the theme from Jack Elliott and Allyn Ferguson the duo who wrote, composed, and conducted the theme for Charlie's Angels better than the theme from the first season and better than the second season, and I love the theme from the 80s Universal Studios medical comedy drama series, "House Calls", I enjoy that first version and I love the second version 😍 😍💝 thanks 🙏 👍 again, great stuff, and great classic TV themes, that was straight away and I am very moved by it, because it's a really good theme song from Elliott and Ferguson, that's what i called a real duo of TV music of Jack Elliott and Allyn Ferguson, that's cool...

The casting of this show makes me wonder if it was originally intended for a network other than CBS. The Tiffany Network was already home to MASH and Trapper John MD, and having Wayne Rogers in it feels like trying to find something to combat one or both of those shows........

In interviews, Wayne Rogers had said that one of the biggest disappointments of his career was the cancellation of House Calls. He loved doing the show and felt the writing/directing and acting were great. When CBS announced it was canceled he wrote a letter to the president of CBS at that time William Paley. Paley invited him to New York to meet with him and the program director for CBS. Over lunch it was explained that they felt House Calls simply was not going to rise in the ratings, that the loss of Lynn Redgrave had hurt the show's chemistry/storylines

House Calls never finished out of the top 25 shows throughout its 3 seasons. Actually, in season 2 it finished 8th (tied with Three's Company). The Lynn Redgrave ruckus over her demand to breastfeed her daughter caused her to be replaced by Sharon Gless. Even then the show finished 24th in its 3rd season but CBS decided to end it. Sharon Gless in her memoir said she didn't like working with Wayne Rogers whatsoever.

I only remember the first version which I like better than the 2nd .

I could never understand why this show was cancelled before the end of season 3---even though it was still a top rated TV show at the time....?

There were many problems in the post production process, most of them were fired.

First season had the better theme. Second season had the better graphics. I thought the second theme sounded generic.

I've not seen the show as it was way before my time. But if I'm asked which version of the theme I'd prefer, without a doubt it's the first theme. The second theme is rather forgettable.

Contract dispute? She got fired for breastfeeding her newborn at work! (Well, that was the reason CBS and Universal gave. The real reason, apparently, was, Wayne Rogers demanded she be fired.) It's debatable what actually got it cancelled, but it seemed to have been a combination of CBS wanting Sharon for "Cagney & Lacey" and Wayne Rogers being a giant, colossal pain in the ass. Obviously, nobody thought it was strong enough to replace "MASH" -- which begs the question of why they had it as the lead-out for all 3 seasons. And I'm sorry but I never liked the Season 2 & 3 theme song at all.

I actually preferred the second version of this theme. Maybe I'm just used to it more.

I like the second one much better and love 💕 it when Dr Michaels throws his clothes off in the beginning of it at 1:33

For some reason, I only remember the second version. And it gives me such a blast t of nostalgia hearing it.
