Good level for Carlos! Tommy, he will have a good season

PROUD of TP.... Tommy proved how close he is to the elite #1, and pushed him to play his best. Paul desperately needed that first set, but.... well... the margins are so fine. Keep your head up Tommy - excellent AO performance.

This match deserved better highlights. TP played Carlos hard in the first set, lots of exciting exchanges. Instead we get two points from that set, one of which is a double fault.

It's just that Carlos can get to a level with power creativity speed even though I think Tommy Paul is a really good player🎉

People in the comments are overating Carlos's performance. Yes he played very well, but Tommy only managed a measly 54% of first serves, and handed the first set on a double fault. Yes Carlos creates that pressure on the serve, but other payers may not grant Carlos the same gifts. He was not tested enough in this match.

We don't get to see points but players walking to their chair, having a break, fist pumping, double fault... All this in 3mn resume. AO is close to get the shittest highlights behind RG...

cmon man starting the highlights at 5 games all is just absurd. i watched the full thing and the first set had some crazy points at the very beginning, especially because paul took the early break. why did you not put that in? 🤦‍♂

Alcaraz seems more mentally relaxed when playing this year. I think we will see a more mature and improved Alcaraz compared to last year.

Alcaraz' WEAKNESS EXPOSED

Follow this technique

Return power shots to Alcaraz’ BACKHAND (his WEAK side). Hit heavy balls in the baseline. Stick to this game plan: make a psychological statement “you’re targeting his weak side. Keep him ANGRY. You WIN, he loses.

DO NOT TEST His FOREHAND (you’re toast)

This was the winning game plan of:

1. Lorenzo Musetti: Hamburg 2022

2. Tommy Paul: ATP Masters 2022

3. Fabian Marozsan: ROME 2023

4. Tommy Paul: ATP Masters 2023

5. Grigor Dimitrov Shanghai Masters 2023

6. Grigor Dimitrov Miami Open 2024

7. Gael Monfils Cincinnati Open 2025

8. Cameron Norrie Paris Masters 2025

9. Andy Murray Indian Wells Masters BNP Paribas 2021

HAPPY WINNING

Paul always manages to play at least one competitive set in his matches with Alcatraz, with the exception of last year’s FO, but never looks like winning.

The last time an American male won a Grand Slam singles title was in September 2003, when Andy Roddick defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero in straight sets (6-3, 7-6, 6-3) to win the US Open. As of January 2026, this marks a 22-year drought for American men's tennis across all four major tournaments. Paul is a good tennis player but no match for Carlos.

@LeslieShaps

Not sure who can stop him. 22 years and on the road to his 7th Grand Slam. Unbelievable.
