I moved to Tampa from Puerto Rico in 2012 and I love it. A good mix of different and friendly people. My kids grew here and we are not planning to move out anytime soon.

I was born and raised in Tampa, too. Palma Ceia, specifically. Without a doubt, Tampa is absolutely horrible now. Tampa is a little town trying to look and act like a thriving, major metro area of significant importance. It is not. Tampa is exceedingly too expensive for what the town offers. It is WAY TOO CROWDED, and with the wrong kind of people: transplants from NY, NJ, CA, and every other screwed up liberal northern city. Tampa used to have a nice, unique, calm, and welcoming feel. Those things are long gone. South Tampa had attractive, unique hones that were different and possessed their own warm character. Now, they're all replaced with multi-million $$ two-story, ugly, white boxes with either black or grey trim and some fake stone glued to a portion of one exterior wall. Top it off with fake grass and a $3-4,000,000 price tag, and there's your new "home." Rubbish. The people here now are crude, crass, narcissistic, and it's no surprise considering where they came from. Gasparilla used to be a fun, enjoyable family occasion with our high-school bands. Now, it's a disgusting, drunken moron-fest that requires a paid ticket. You used to be able to drive the entire length of Bayshore Blvd without one traffic light (except at the northbound Howard intersection). Now, they're all up and down the road. Not to mention the unrelenting addition of huge, character less glass condo buildings of multi-million $$ tiny condos littering Bayshore. But I guess they try to make up for the ugliness by erecting an 18-foot-tall blob of metal shaped like a fat, black female(?) in front of the building, causing your eyes to be assaulted when you drive by (Ritz Towers). Tampa definitely has been ruined.

Grew up and live in Sarasota (Venice). “Once you stop fighting it and accept it”. Is a great line. Tamp is not Miami flash. Exactly. Tampa has been a lowkey party place. There is a lot to do here, we just don’t shout about it.

I have been living in Tampa for 20 years. I miss Green Iguana!!! It depends on your preference, hobbies and lifestyle. There are a lot of people who dress up and go out for brunch 🍴

Tampa is not that crowded or has horrible traffic than any other major city (I'm from NY). Listen, I don't care if it cost just as much as NY. You get more for your money here and nothing beats your quality of life!! I get it when "locals" which means people who moved there more than 10 years ago because most people were not born there, they see it change but it still better than almost any other state. I lived in NY, SC and Georgia and Tampa blows them all away!!! This is my second time living here and I won't move away again!!!!

I’ll help out here! Anyone that’s looking for a good school district, you better make no less than $300k household for a BASIC single family home 3bed nothing huge, even at 30yr mortgage. Otherwise if u lose a job your ass is on the street if you don’t have an emergency fund. Be prepared to spend about 40% of your take home pay after taxes on a home.

I've lived in Tampa for 8 years. There are some great restaurants and the weather is perfect. BUT housing is too expensive and the traffic is horrendous. Getting worse each year. It feels crowded which is unfortunate.

Whatever you seek in a lifestyle, the common thread of Transportation affects EVERYONE! In Tampa, we are at a crossroads. It now takes 3 to 4 traffic light changes to get through intersections ...Interstate off-ramps are backed up to and interfering with traffic flow on the Interstate...more than half of the city is parking lots. A mature city... one that can compete economically, socially and culturally on the world stage, must have a complete and interconnected transportation system: highways / slow residential streets for both vehicles and pedestrians / water transportation which exceeds that of a tourist amenity / high-speed rail / light rail / buses / a complete bicycling network / urban cores designed for walking. We have one of the best small airports in the world... but it is an island ... only accessible by automobile... and those automobiles are dependent on highways. Look at airports being built around the world-- they combine highspeed rail with local transit, highways and sea port connection. If lattes, flip-flops and traveling Broadway shows appeal to you ... then, you'll find that here in Tampa. But without a complete transportation infrastructure we will not be attracting the highly educated, the industry of the future and conseqently, won't amount to much more than a service-based economy.

I did yacht dinner in St Pete for under a 120 dollars.
Dolphin excursion for 35 in Clearwater.
The things you pay for in other cities & get taxed for I found very reasonable in Tampa. I love that city more then Vegas
