basically the 2 types of millennial

Video Overview & Insights

Nebula: https://go.nebula.tv/mancarryingthing

to those of you saying the vid is "stuck in 360p" you have self-reported as a millennial. gen z doesn't know what 360p is and would think the aesthetic is cool. (i literally have no idea why it wont process 1080p)

The world was already fading and decaying when I was born between these two groups. It was a shadow.

I was born in 93 and I don't think this video is accurate.
Seems like another gen z jealousy video.

Born in '89 I feel like I belong to neither one. All I know is that I had a beautiful childhood and that's really about it.

This is so true... I dated a girl who was born in '94 and I was born in '89 and the difference is night and day

As someone born at in the early 80s, I relate to Gen X descriptions I see way more than those attributed to Millennials.

Life before the Internet was good… it was really good. You actually had Friends. You had people to talk to. You could call someone on the Phone, hell you could even ring at their door 😂

I remember 90s PC box art was so enthralling

My younger brother is a millennial and he was upset to find out he wasn't Gen X like his older siblings. Genuinely upset.

Born 1980, but raised under an evangelical rock, so I didn’t experience much 80s music/movies/TV. Technically & technologically GenX but culturally Millennial

Elder Millennial born in 1985 to Boomer parents. My immediate peers were more Gen X than Gen Y (now called Millennial). I feel more comfortable around 70s Gen Xers than later 90s Millennials mostly because when I was growing up they were in primary school while I was in high school then uni and then the workforce, so we didn't really interact all that much. But in later years that's changed as they've caught up in the life milestones and relating becomes easier and the sub-generational barriers begins to blur or disappear.

I was born in 1992. My oldest brother in 1986.
My dad in 1969.
In my house it was 1940 every day.
So i dont wanna hear it from yall.

You can tell such people apart by whether they call it a "video" or a "vhs". I'm the former.

I'm whatever generation refuses to say "cringe" instead of cringeworthy 😅

Yeah, there are Gen Y and Millenials, we are not the same 😝

Whats the difference? I always hear everybody claiming they Gen X around my age... and how horrible millennials are... and its like.... you were born in 1983... your not a xennial either. They got our generation brainwashed to hate itself... Cause Boomers blame every young person and label them millennials

which Millennial realizes that you went through all this trouble and put the wrong end year, which is 1996.

Type 3: alternate 92-97, "The world has been getting crazier my whole life, I will never own a house, have a family, or be able to really own anything ever again, and I have memories of when it wasn't like this but nobody who can do anything about it seems to want sanity back, I'm becoming a monk."

YFW you're a millenial born right in the middle of these two periods and can simultaneously relate to and be annoyed by both early and late millenials.

'82 here, and we were called "Generation Y/'Why?'" for 30 years before this "Millennial" horsesh!t came out of nowhere & erased the previous term.

@tenimeartstudios

As someone 31 it is wild. Maybe because I have older parents and friends I grew up firmly milennial. 9/11 was a foundational part of my life (couldn't fly for years), the recession factored into my career goals and first job, didn't get my first phone until 18, etc.

Have some friends the same age and they talk about TikTok, don't get my references to bands like The Smiths, and I still socialize with strangers all over the place and they're all too anxious as they're online all the time.

0:12 Boomers might've made fun of you for that, but we Gen-Xers didn't. Avocado toast is doggone good! Avocado is even better on a bagel or brioche if you wanna get all gourmet with it.
1:04 I'm 46. I "grew up" (yeah, right) on Lily C.A.T. and Vampire Hunter D. The original Vampire Hunter D from 1985 with the 1992 English dub. The 2015 dub gets certain pronunciations more correct, but the '92 dub is overall better. Do you...like...tokusatsu movies?

I'm in the first cohort, but I also watched Kpop Demon Hunters. When I wear the hoodies, only the millennials who are parents recognize it. 😅

I’m that old ass millennial. Analog childhood. Digital adulthood. Been through the ringer and very much resilient.

Born dec 91, basically right in the middle of the two groups though I feel a bit more like type two. Probably doesnt help that most of my friends are 5-6 years younger than me.

@ElfQuest01

86 and I was bought up like I was born in 76. My family was old school hardcore Christian conservatives. I didn’t even see the internet until I was in high school YEARS after everyone else I knew was playing on Bnet 😢.

Also depends on your parents if thrybwere young and hip more toward gen Z. My parents were in thier 30s which then was odd. I did not habe a PC until I was 15 because they were quite PC illiterate 🎉

Tbh, it wasn’t the bad stuff from the 2000s onwards that got us, it was the excessive amount of hope we were given during from 1998-2001 (pre Sept 2001) that laid the foundations for the disappointment that followed after 2008.

Gen Z are just as stuffed, but they weren’t promised that the world would get better.

@KatR264
@

Crazy how true this is lol. I was born in 90 and my brother in 94 and you would think we are 10 years apart not 4 lol.

@zagnut3707

i literally have never met or experienced a type 2 millennial nor even had to conceptualize the incorrect assumption that a millennial would deny being a millennial. actually like in general its asburd to make a satire video about millenials that includes the idea of a millenial in denial because i dont think they even exists. Somehow a millennial made this video and got their generation so wrong they took a gen x's idea of millennials through the lens of a boomer that hired them to make content for gen z on 202x youtuube.

No seriously i have no idea what the fuck this video is on about withthe idea of a millenial saying their gen z. i get like younger millenials are on that cusp but the idea of an ipad was literally 13 years removed my guy, theyre either 13 or theyre 6 years shy of being 40.
