God I love this channel

Great list. About how I would rank things, mostly. Especially "Tenet". Movie made zero sense, couldn't follow it, and I do not have problems with attention span. No plans to re-watch.

True and possibly shocking story: Both "Inception" and "The Dark Knight" I was somehow lukewarm on, initially. I thought "Inception" was too elaborate, kind of pretentious, and I think with "The Dark Knight", I was probably just rejecting the hype of it all. But, oh my, when I caught them again, at home, I found out how wrong I had been, especially with "The Dark Knight". I left my home viewing realizing that this was the greatest comic book adaptation I had ever seen. I still feel that way, almost twenty years later. How's that for an upgrade? I have seen it probably six times since. Now, "Memento"... I probably saw that six times in the theatre, can't even count how many times since. I couldn't get enough of it, still can't. Guy Pearce deserved an Oscar nod, so did Nolan for directing. It should have been up for Best Picture somehow, though that was a good year for Picture. My favorite was "In the Bedroom".

"The Odyssey" has, for now, left me cold. I can't wait to watch it again though, see if I have a similar experience to "Inception" and "The Dark Knight". Nolan films seem to have a history of taking some time to sink in, for me.

One thing I’ve realized about the back half of Nolan’s works is that watching them at home you lose something from watching them in theater. They’re still great, but they’re missing something that seeing them on the big screen provides. And I’d believe that’s almost intentional.

Finally someone that think interstellar is a little overrrated

With all due respect to The Dark Knight, Inception is my #1 Nolan film. It is an inventive sci-fi movie that is so much better than most of the recent sci-fi, and it also has a compelling story, along with DiCaprio doing some of his best work.
Do I have to defend dropping TDK to #2? Well, without Ledger it wouldn't be Top 5. Which is a bit weird, given that he isn't the lead, though he utterly stole the movie. Most of my issues with TDK come down to plot issues. Too many bad guys, too long, unnecessary subplots, etc.
I'd have Tenet at #3. Again, I love the inventive sci-fi, though Tenet has a few issues that Inception doesn't. The plot isn't quite as tight.
After that, Memento, Dunkirk, and Oppenheimer in some order. Memento has incredible first-viewing power, but subsequent viewings start to make me wonder about continuity issues. Dunkirk is fabulous. No notes. Oppenheimer is very important, but a bit off in some ways.
After that: The Prestige and Insomnia. My problem with The Prestige is that I'd listened to the audio book first, so the movie didn't have the surprises. I never got a first viewing of it. As to Insomnia, Pacino and Swank are great, but Robin Williams as a baddie is very frustrating.
Then the other two Batman movies, and finally the dreadful Interstellar. Some people think "there is no bad Nolan film", but Interstellar is just bad sci-fi.
Haven't seen The Odyssey yet, but plan to soon. The Following is not on my radar.

Holy shit the Interstellar take,,, had to stop watching.

I feel after Inception, he has been smelling his own farts too much and become incredibly overrated.
I want him to do something different, like a comedy! Especially of late, his films have always been so overly serious, with the same drab look (What people call "realistic"), featuring characters I felt were distant and cold.

interstellar at 10 is egregious. also, TDKR hate is so forced

His weakness is focusing more on directing than on the script. This is the first time I've learned that he directed The Prestige and the rest of his films.

I’m so happy Nolan films are huge box office draws. We need more auteur filmmakers who are trusted with big budgets.

Using the “one note” Scarjo role as a complaint against the Prestige is like using Schwarzenegger’s accent as a complaint against The Terminator.

His films are technical wonders and he is a great director doing films no one else does, no doubt, but they all lack a cohesive storyline and verge on messy. I could never see another Christopher Nolan film again and be fine. However, I do want to see The Odyssey for the spectacle.

This has to be the worst Nolan ranking I’ve seen. Interstellar at #10 The Prestige at #9. Wild lol🤨

I would not put The Odyssey in my top five. Nor would I put TDK. Not a fan of either.

Anyone else thinkg that Michael Caine's Cutter is the bad guy in The Prestige ?

Man , I respect you a lot for your cinema taste and insights . But rating Interstellar as 8? That is absurd . I rewatch it every year and most people love this film . For many reasons . It is easily one top 3 by Nolan and top 5 sci fi movies of all time.

The great thing about art is that everyone can have totally different views and opinions on it. I would put Interstellar in the top 3 but even more than that my controversial opinion that no one agrees with... I would put Inception at number 11 only outdoing Following and Tenet. I've tried a handful of time but I just cannot get into Inception.

I know I’m not on my own here - but in pretty much on my own I guess 😂 jeez I think The Dark Knight is overrated. Heath carries it. It has some really good scenes exciting scenes - but I just think it’s decent - and has the best superhero movie performance of all time to lift it

The scene in Memento where Natalie antagonizes and taunts Leonard to the point of violence only to gaslight him for her benefit may be one of Nolan’s best written sequences
