I just got my card from. Broward County BUT it is only good for 30 days. They then offer an extended use for $38. Oh well.

Libby is an amazing app that allows you to get free ebooks and audiobooks on your kindle with the power of a library card! In this Libby App tutorial, I show you how you can add multiple FREE library cards to your libby app so that you never have to wait for a book/hold again! This libby hack should allow you to, at the very least, drastically reduce libby wait times since you will have access to the digital catalogs of several libraries.
Interesting! In my state all the library systems are reciprocal, so I already cards for 8 different systems. It's a nice perk!

Commenting in 2026: In Maryland, library systems in all 24 counties are required to allow access to all Maryland residents regardless of county of residence because they all receive state funding. I have physical and digital library cards to all my neighboring counties. The different counties also have different resources, like my county has DIY check outs of home and gardening tools and power tools, kitchen appliances and utensils, sewing, power washers, etc. One of our neighboring counties has board games. They also all are separate Libby accounts.

@ISA_KittyyYyBroward Country got wise to people tragically exploiting their public coffers and now charges $38 a year for a non-resident to have an e-card. Libraries generally pay license fees of upwards of $30 a year per book so it makes sense to charge people who aren't even paying for the library.

@hollym5343I was only able to get Broward working on Libby. SJPL gave me a card number but it didn’t work on Libby.

I will say that I am not the fastest click on the board when it comes to technology.. can anyone in the comments or the videographer please tell me how to get to those or almost start googling lol😂
@Shannah-w8gIn Canada, Libby isn’t linked with kindle. This means that we can’t send e-books from a library to a kindle. This is why I want to find an American library to sign up for. However, I wonder which ones will allow me to enter a Canadian address?
