A Visit To Los Pollos Hermanos | Mandala | Breaking Bad
Video Overview & Insights
Walt waits at Los Pollos Hermanos, where the distributor has arranged to meet them.
The first time we see Gus in both shows he's a forgettable face you don't think twice it's him. That's how gus likes it. He wants to see others but not be seen
From Season 2 Episode 11 Mandala:
After Combo is murdered by a rival gang, Saul proposes a new distribution method for Walt and Jesse's product. Under stress, Jesse tells Jane what he does. Saul puts Walt in touch with a meth distributor named Gus Fring, who agrees to purchase Walt's product. However, Gus expresses concern about Jesse's drug problem, which has escalated into heroin use due to Jane's relapse. Skyler finds out that Ted has been engaging in tax evasion from the IRS, but due to their past relationship, she decides not to report it. Walt receives a large offer for the short-notice delivery of the remainder of their inventory, but at the same time receives a call from Skyler, notifying him of her imminent labor.
I was lucky that i didnt know about Giancarlo when i saw this scene and the shock value was awesome

I love how Gus is just kind of there in the background being treated as just any old extra, really sells the whole thing

I like the little detail that Walt order the chicken but Jesse don't so they don't sit there with their happy meal look like a couple of chump.

Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in the world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.
1:40 How did Walt not know Gus was the kingpin? Did he even watch the show? Is he stupid?
Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

Jesse had a gaudy sense of style

A shame they never met the king pin. But at least that manager guy was very attentive.

WHY IS GUS NOT WEARING A YELLOW SHIRT?!?!?!
@DPBDrives00:10 is that Gus’s first scene in the breaking bad universe?
@sidmahasuverachai3722Where is Lyle? 😞
@madara868think Jesse's hoodie is Metal Mulisha
@meepmagnateLove this scene but in real life, I don't think there is any way that Gus would invite them to meet him for the first time at Pollos. That's basically giving away his entire operation from the get go. Most likely they Gus would have sent Mike to screen them first before even showing his face.
@johnny6904Gus shirt 😂
@roaming740I never understood why Jesse was against considering a deal that would give him over 600K. Just don't get it
@CJ-lw4jpIs this the first appearance of gus fring in braking bad?
@meroxz5768I will dress like Jesse for my next job interview.
@runcycleskixcStettbacher Urteil⛪🗽⛪
@StefanHafner-c4kThis was just a glorious intro to Gus😂
@dublinjazz1Evil Hal’s side quest 😂
@isaacixtupe8983Right when gus walked up Jessie had to do the mouth movement 😅
@EricJohnson-x7i"Your partner was late, and he was high. He's high often."
@dylancooper36900:45 Why is he eating it like that? 😭😭😭😭😭😭
@usayedd4409Interesting that Gus wears a blue shirt here as opposed to his usual yellow. Perhaps at first these were supposed to be his everyday shirts, hence different colours, but the yellow one resonated with the rest of Los Pollos setting and was used in the memorable Walt and Gus face to face scene, so they decided to turn it into his iconic uniform for the rest of BB and BCS.
@abohachuk4765Min 1:36
No, unfortunately not. We were supposed to meet a drug kingpin here, but he hasn't shown up yet.
I’d totally be a regular at Los Pollos Hermannos
@dcrea9416the focus on Jesse. his ...? Jesse often wore skull clothes. a nod to a b?
@joakimlundgren7043Why would Jesse show up late, and high as a kite, for the potential deal of the century?
It doesn't add up

@Prum_Prum4ikI'm sitting at that exact spot 😮
@hiramtyler5212good days.
@Montz.AlhlalyI sat in that booth.❤
@dgoins6Where is Lyle? Is he safe? Is he all right?
@liamphibia1:58. Jesse had some awesome insight to Walt’s personality and great foreshadowing for the audience.
@Brody400The feeling 🤌❤️🩹
@Zaid_edits_03Does Walt ever eat his food?
@garbageboicoolNo, Los Pollos Hermanos isn't a permanent, real-life restaurant chain, but its filming location, Twisters in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is a real diner fans visit, and there have been successful pop-up events in various cities that sell the show's menu items. While you can't walk into a Los Pollos Hermanos any day, the Twisters location offers a similar experience with Breaking Bad memorabilia, and pop-ups bring the brand to life occasionally.
@bargdaffy1535I think a lot of people are missing the beauty of this scene because of the Gus interaction, but at 1:56, Jesse, even high out of his mind, reads Walt like a book, correctly pinning him as the true, self-destructive addict in their team, who won't be able to stop until he's lost everything.
@davidoconnor1773The camera work, the bland blue shirt and tie and extra dorkiness. I could’ve never seen it coming that he would be Gus fring
@alekmuststop415Gus literally provides the best customer service in all of television.
@biz7764That food does look delicious.
@scottyk200What did walt actually order? Is it onion rings?
@Miller_payne_05"Is it possible and I know the answer is probably no, is there any chance i can meet the owner?"
@rajas_where is lyle ???
@prateek4279Gus's instinct told him to walk away from Walt and Jesse. But his perfectionist nature overrode his instincts. With Gus everything had to be perfect. The perfect cover, perfect lab, perfect plan, perfect network, perfect protection and of course. Perfect product.
Walt was offering him perfect product. He simply couldn't say no to it.
Gus should have trusted his instinct.
@tjentijiAside from the interaction with Gus, the scene also flips the dynamic between Jesse and Walt. Until now, Jesse thought of himself as the hardened criminal and Walt imagining he's only the scientist. But now, Jesse is revealed as having a conscience (which he tamps down by getting high), while Walt isn't particularly crushed by the deaths of collaborators.
@cogitatione1Jesse: "What about after? You gonna make up some new magic number?"
Walt: E I GH T Y M I L L I O N
Damn I want some chicken now 😂😂
