Crash Course Black American History Preview
Video Overview & Insights
Over the course of 51 episodes, we're going to learn about Black American History. Clint Smith will teach you about the experience of Black people in America, from the arrival of the first enslaved Black people who arrived at Jamestown all the way to the Black Lives Matter movement.
As a white man who wants to see exactly wtf I wasn’t taught, thank you. It’s important to know what happened. Not just to acknowledge that it was wrong, but to ensure it doesn’t repeat. I am starting here, and will watch each video you have on this topic.
You can get Clint's book here: https://bookshop.org/books/how-the-word-is-passed-a-reckoning-with-the-history-of-slavery-across-america/9780316492935

Clint's cadence and speech is so calming, both reassuring, but also sobering

I am a dual citizen of the United States while I didn’t grow up there I grew up in Canada. I think that our education system would benefit greatly from learning about black American history and how it plays a role today in all countries especially Canada.
#crashcourse #Black #history
After weeks of my teen learning about white guy after white guy in his homeschool curiculum I'd had enough. Did a youtube search and found this series. I am so glad I did! Thank you!

@patrickmccurdy8688This is really incredible. As a homeschool mom, i'm always looking for our history told for us and by us. while there are plenty of sources out there, this course is by FAR the best i've found. The delivery, tone, narration just...chef's kiss. I really appreciate the time and consideration taken in this course and so happy my son now has this as part of his curriculum.
@michellifulThanks Petol! Shared!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

@ImaniGaming123I am so happy this channel exists, and am excited that the AP Program will be adding their own version of the course as well. Never liked that we have a European History, and not this program. I hope the AP Program will look to add a Latin American History Course soon as well. These programs would do a lot to increase participation in the AP Program.
@scotttaylor9157ah, nice use of progress flag :) thanks.
@apollicino2824Excited to watch this and learn more ❤️
@esteph0812So grateful for this
@NewMasculinutyIm here after watching KnowingBetter's video titled "Neoslavery". I cant believe all of this was left out when we were going through school. The standard American History Myth is a very real thing and Im glad that the truth is finally coming out.
@zakkmiller8242Just finished the course, after watching one lesson each week for a year. This gave me so much more context, understanding and language about Black history in the U.S. and how slavery was central to the American project — but does not singularly define the identity of the Black American.
@natashasNYCThank you for this series, Dr. Smith! Excellent job!
@tiffanyanderson9437Yooo, we got Clint Smith for this? Yes!
@HypernovaBolts11This is so beautifully this is going to an amazing much needed series thank you for this so much !!! I’m excited to learn and unlearn. It is American history.
@StudioVeganthank you for creating this series!
@melissanance64I am German and work as an English teacher here in Germany. I love your Videos and regularly Show them to the students in my classroom . (Black ) American history is an important part in the English Curriculum in Germany schools 😊
@judithkuzay6224It would be awesome if you did a video on the Black entrepreneurs of the industrial era! This is a space where teachers of US History do not have as many resources, so this would be a great add. Plus give recognition to some of the names who created Black economic power in the era.
@sandramarbut2815Watching from Pakistan. An avid reader of American history and I always wondered why doesn't someone do a Black American History which in many ways is the real American history or without which American History is truthless. Former foreign exchange student in Green bay Wisconsin and absolutely loved my time over there. Interestingly the friendliest people in the beginning of my year were African Americans and they helped me integrate in the American society.
@MuhammadAbdullah-vh3lpWas tipped off about this series and channel, looking forward to checking this out.
@safe-keeper1042The comment section for this video has restored a lot of my faith in humanity.
@PieInTheSky9Smart dude, I appreciate the content!
@avoidrealnamesSince crash course got black american history now- there are no excuses to not understand racism in America 😭
@phoenixalexander4411Congratulations for covering this subject. Actually, I am not from the United states ( sorry for any gramatical errors), but it makes me really excited to learn a little bit more about my ancestor`s history, even though I am not considerated black in my country (they call me mulata, a black and white daughter).
