with all due respect, I lived in Lecce for 15 months, I could not wait to escape! So provincial, unfriendly people, overall. And some of the worst food in all of Italy! After a while that pietra leccese becomes oppressive! I was nearly tarred and feathered because i admitted to putting raw butter in my pure tomato sauce ( a northern thing). "we don't do that in Lecce" i was told. Well I did, and still do, even in Michoacan! I moved to Ascoli Piceno in Le Marche and was in heaven, better food, nicer people! of course you will never go there because it is not on the "approved list"! My apt was on the Via Salaria...look it up! BTW, the pastciotto comes from Galatina south of Lecce, created at a place owned by the cousin of my friend Vittorio Ascalone, try it next time....Puglia seems very third world compared to the rest of Italy! Sorry!

It looks like November was a great month, beautiful weather and no crowds! I usually go in mid October to return mid November but i found it still warm and crowded in October! Went to Rome, Sicily in 2023 still warm

If you ever will have a walk in the old part of Monopoli DO NOT go at midday or you will go nuts: there's smell of good food coming from every house like fresh made tomato sauce, fried meat balls, fried vegetables and other gorgeus food.
Having spent my summers there as a child (my grandparents had a house just at the start of the port) I know what I am talking about lol!
