28:17 - as a Russian who lives near one such closed city (Seversk), can confirm that it's closed because of being heavily focused on nuclear power plants.

In order to enter the city, you need a special pass, which is checked every time you enter. People who temporarily perform some sort works in the city (for example, construction workers from nearby cities) undergo the special process of obtaining a temporary pass.

Life in a closed city like Seversk isn't really that different from open ones - it's just the elevated level of demand in terms of people's flow that makes them so seemingly mysterious.

Of course, that only applies to the 'official' closed cities. There probably are some of the more secretive areas in the country, but these are unlikely to be known to a larger public anyway.

Hello. In the video you mentioned that the russian horror community likes tv anomalies. It is true. Recently, however, there has appeared a complete new genre of internet horror in Russia that is connected with tv anomalies. It is made using ai techonology and looks quite new for the horror community (even international). It would be interesting if you made a video on it too. There is a video by the channel FlynnFlyTaggart covering this topic in detail (in russian though)

Классное видео, man. You don't know anything about horror if you haven't watched at least one episode of " Криминальная Россия" - (Criminal Russia). Especially the episodes about such maniacs as Slivko, Spesivtsev, Golovkin... You just can't believe that this stuff is on YouTube and other platforms without any problems or censorship.This is literally the scariest thing I've ever seen. And I mean really scary.

In the tv hijacking story with the rabbit at 19:12 the second option translates : “think only about yourself”

@adamvebaloisnotavailable
@

thank you very much for a relatively respectful dealing with russian-speaking internet :) I wanted to give an interesting input: the "kingdom of heaven", while correct translation literally, would be better translated as "rest in peace". it's a phrase that orthodox christians say when they learn of someone's death. like "i hope he's in heaven now". so "rest in peace". and, well, I believe it was a real segment of late night television in 90s, although this one broadcast itself is of course fake :) creepy though!

upd: i don't think there were any tv hijakings in russia ever? cause back at the time of analog TV russians, although having a lot of avid radio masters, didn't really have access to a lot of analog signal tools.

upd: YYYYYAAAY ВИД VISIBILITY

As a Russsian, I think I have a word to say about the obituary thing. While it is a fake, it is based on something real. Basically, there was a lot of regional TV back in the day, since there were only a few stations covering more than one region. These channels made their own programs and commercials, and also PSAs. Some of the PSAs were actually creepy, but for a purpose. The intent was (i think) that because of being unsettled, you'd remember about fire\traffic safety more. IDK, this was basically "experience how bad it is to die in a car crash if you act like a moron" or something. Sometimes it would just be ominous tone, sometimes I've heard there were actual injured people footage. And to be completely honest, being from Moscow and only seeing a creepy PSA ONCE, I still remember it like 15 years later? I do not remember the exact time, the circumstances, but I do sure as hell remember being creeped out by the gruesome tone. Maybe that's the reason I'm diligent with using a seat belt in cars.

@rynick4x4

19:16 it is "think only about yourself", not only about him

@jaypaxton2222
@

19:35 "безногим" – to legless

@objectobj
@

16:19 this is wrong translation, it's "think only about yourself"

@objectobj
@

For context, "Царствие Небесное" (Kingdom of Heaven) is Russian analogue of "rest in peace". The full saying is "Царствие Небесное рабу Божьему (имярек)", meaning "Let a servant of God (name of the deceased) obtain the Kingdom of Heaven", it's often shortened to just "Kingdom of Heaven" whenever someone's passing is concerned.

I think the obituaries in this style may have been real as a genre, though probably not during the nineties, but earlier, during Soviet era, and likely only for prominent people or people connected to the TV station, not regular members of a public. The solemn music (just not without the horrific distortions) and the tolling of bells are very on point for what would be considered appropriate for a TV obituary. A big nuance though: in Soviet times, they would not have used explicitly religious language, like "Царствие Небесное", they would probably opt instead for "Светлая Память" (meaning "In loving memory"). So, if RTR claims that the obituaries never existed, I'd be inclined to believe them, these fake ones are probably inspired by a real thing, but it likely wasn't a prominent feature of TV broadcasting in the nineties. And yeah, if it counts for much, i don't remember seeing any when i was a kid.

About yourself**

@prosto_a_user

The biggest horror on ru**ian internet is a video depicting an act of r*pe on a several month old Ukrainian child. Those people are horrible and inhumane, not just „sad”. They romanticise abuse and violence as well as kind of promote it. That’s why there are no anti-war protests. Majority of ru**ians either support it or don’t care

@

@beavis6157

Most of these "closed cities" are just cities where you and your documents are checked when you enter/exit them. Usually they exist around some big factory or military object. Some require getting an "invitation" to get in but it's easy to get it from anyone living there — mostly because no one cares to get there, and the only people who come are relatives of the workers coming on holidays or smth

Very ominous in theory, very boring in reality

@eugenestein8530
@

As a Russian, as soon as heard about "scary intro logos" I IMMEDIATELY KNEW WHAT'S IT GONNA BE

this shit scared me to no end every. damn. time.

Бестолковое видео какое то. Бытовое преступление, которое просто произошла на стриме и куча хоррор проектов. А в комментах люди, черпающие информацию о России из американской и нацистской пропаганды прошлого века

@Biggish96
@

13:31 I think this wouldn't happen again, bc we are now not on analogue TVs, we are now on digital, analogue could be hijacked just bc it was some antennas and someone could just host a something on a freq of a popular channel, like first channel and this would happen

@pavuhok314
