Only idiots go unprepared.
Just spend the night on a tropical beach and you will see that its uncomfortable, let alone the forest in cool weather.
Always bring an emergency pack with dried food, a lighter, a bic is fine, you dont need to prove anything, just survive.
Have a first aid kit, sweater, flashlight and tarp or tent.
More User Perspectives
The language use in this story is silly. Come on... The AI voice making mistakes is also annoying.
First of all the dog could have led him out.
Second the dog could have led the rescue to him.
Dumb
@700Bearings.78I don’t like this dude.
@behindthespotlight79833:44 totally irresponsible. Trail runners are the worst. They think that because they enjoy this specific hobby the wilderness isn’t the wilderness. What’s even more puzzling is that less than five pounds of carefully planned survival gear is the difference between life and death. If you can’t enjoy the run with a few pounds in a super pro ergonomic pack then run a treadmill. Venturing miles into wilderness without the basics is just plain unwise
@behindthespotlight7983Rubbush AI nonsense
@maxsabelo3089I could never do that to my dog.. crazy.. id just let my dog lead the way.. what a odd thing to do
@AcroSstMeI got lost in the forest for 3 hours.. the trail just vanished like it never existed and the nature around me felt denser by the second. . That was long enough for me.. it was night time and all i had was my phone.
@AcroSstMeDid I hear it right that this happened in 2025 ? If so, the fires were two years ago and there’s still ash ? I don’t think so.
@Jobis2414He should have followed to dog.
@nancyecuer402Gosh I’m amazed at such a lot of horrible people you all are and the nasty things you say! Horrible.
@PatriciaS-t1xAI
@ericsmith7967Hey i have an idea tell the dog lets go home and get chicken then follow the dog..but send the dog home without you following? smdh
@carolgeorgeson9632AI.
@kathygallant2952What a beautiful area.
@paulinelee9694I’m out, I can’t deal with stupidity
@mariasosa-wy7ehEXTREMELY, EXTREMELY STUPID MAN,,,,,,FOR WHAT A NATURE RUN
POOR,POOR,DOG
AND TAX PAYERS MONEY,,
ILL NEVER FIGURE PPL OUT WHO THINK THERE GOD ‼️‼️‼️‼️
What an idiot! I'm a novice hiker, when it starts raining you turn back! When the trails is starting to disappear you turn back! You always carry emergency supplies! Flashlight, granola bars, water, fire starter. These things weight next to nothing. He's lucky to be alive! Good vid on what NOT to do!
@freykat88Mtn trails are for hiking not running their not enjoying the scenery run in the city
@verao81Cruel to that poor dog disgusting
@rosedonnelly1859Why didn't search & rescue use Freddy to spearhead their search?
@LS-kl6bjI loathe these narrators who think of themselves as 'writers.' Ugh. I can't listen to this anymore.
@uncasistCrazy guy, not taking any food, or hunting/fishing gear. And not even a flare.
@FrizzneckPlease talk to a native, like myself of Washington state before you butcher the name places!
There is no “Cedar Woolley.” It’s pronounced “Seedrow Woolley.” etc.
Now what did we learn here? Keep y'all ahh in civilization
@Prechelle6What a story. Great video. Thank you...
@kmac265Why oh why didn't he let the dog lead him out ??? Minimal gear. A whistle!
@jburnett8152That is one lucky guy!
The AI is awful, though! Why can't a REAL person tell the story?!
The moral of the story: if you’re a selfish moron who wanders into the wilderness completely unprepared, at least have the decency not to abuse your dog’s loyalty by luring him into peril with you. I’m just glad the dog didn’t pay with his life.
@Annie-cv1uqThis story is bs
@jilltherockstaragentI just can’t stand computer ai narrated stuff.
Ugh.
How disappointing. I hike this trail every year. The footage shown is not from the Hannegan Trail.
@kathya3442How irresponsible, poor dog . I can't bear to listen after 10 mins .
@shine7717Emergency tools for this run would weight about 8 oz. or less. Foolish to do this run without them.
@martyrosa5327Is this AI fake story? You have to ask that a lot these days, the format makes it suspect
@Chemlady2012Once again, I couldn't find details of this situation using google.
@rockymtn1291I used to live in Blaine Washington.
@shirley4442God bless, Freddy❤
@FirstYear-m5rAlways expect the unexpected!
@biggienonoAnother bot channel?
@BikeyNBarkybizMy grandma always said, If you're gonna be dumb you gotta be tough. This 🤡 did everything wrong
@redrustyhill2Whey didn’t he follow his dog!!!
@catherinetighe7813💜😭♥️He was found—Praise Jesus!✝️
@KathleenSnyder-hd2hsWhat an ordeal! Thank goodness for those that found him. The best thing he did was to release Freddie, which at least gave some hope.
@Judy-fi7ceI only go into rugged territory with at least 100 dachshunds by my side on the trail. Safety first!🎉
@hilltophiker4616Only God can save him
@Doris-y5vIt's a Miracle!...Robert shooed his dog Freddy so one of them may survive. True enough, Freddy found home, and Robert's plight was known. Though it agonizingly took 30 Days to find help. Thanks to some volunteers who heard his cry for "Help''! Robert stayed in hospital until finally seeing his Mom, then Freddy. Thank Heaven!..
