Wow Golden Tempo was way far in the back until the last curve! What an amazing feat for him to get all the way to the front. Great footage showing all the horses during the race, as the NBC coverage never shows Golden Tempo until the end, so I had no idea just how far back he was.

Races like this usually only happen in MotoGP — like when Valentino Rossi started from the very back and then became the winner on the final lap. But in horse racing, it is extremely race for a horse to come from far behind and still win near the finish line.
That is what made Golden Tempo’s victory so extraordinary. From the back of the field, the horse surged past the competitors near the finish and became the winner. The horse’s speed, stamina, and instinct were incredible, but the jockey’s technique and composure also played a major role in the victory. The combination of both created a historic and unforgettable win. 👍🏻
If the finish line had still been 300 meters farther away, Golden Tempo probably would have won by a much bigger margin. 👍🏻

I grew up on a farm herding cattle, breaking in wild horses and racing horses. We had plenty of race horses and I can't recall them stiking their tongues out like that. Can someone explain why Golden Tempo has his tongue out even before the race?

I so enjoyed watching this. I of course watched the race on Saturday, but this hour of video allowed me to really take in that pre-race atmosphere, study the horses, and see the pre- and post-race mechanics. It's fascinating how everyone has a task and it all goes off without a hitch (well, except for Great White - but you can't control everything that might spook a horse. I sure would've loved to have seen how that big body ran!). Anyway, thank you for shooting this and sharing it! Great quality, great sense of composition, and a very steady hand!
