Ethan Cole was a scientist first. That is the part nobody filing the classified reports bothered to include.

Brilliant enough to design the experiment and reckless enough to climb onto the table when no other viable subject existed — believing in the science he built with the particular blind faith that only the person who built it ever really has. His lab partner is the only person left on earth who still sees Ethan when she looks at what came out of that experiment.

The reptile DNA did not just alter him. It rewrote him from the skin inward. Dark scales spreading across his frame. A tail forcing itself through his spine. Eyes narrowing to slits that see things no human eye was designed for. Teeth reshaping into something jagged and permanent.
