15 FORGOTTEN SCI-FI FILMS FROM 2000–2025 THAT ARE BETTER THAN ANY NEW RELEASES TODAY!

I’ve watched all th English speaking movies, we must be on th same frequency lol, but in th shadow of the moon is my fav. I also love th blockbusters, interstellar, inception, th martian etc, bc I lov th science as opposed to th fiction of th others. Have you seen primer, it’s so messy nd excellent haha.

Here's a question. When was the last time a new sci-fi movie genuinely made you think? Because somewhere between the endless reboots and the CGI spectacles that cost $300 million and say absolutely nothing, we forgot what the genre is actually for. Today we're going back. Fifteen sci-fi films that are more original, more intelligent, and more worth your time than anything the algorithm has been pushing you lately. Welcome back to Movie Verse. Stay for number one, because it was written on a man's deathbed, shot for almost nothing, and it will stay with you for years.

🔔 SUBSCRIBE & TURN ON NOTIFICATIONS — we find the films the algorithm buried so you don't have to.

The only one I watched is The Man from Earth, so cannot say if it deserves to be number 1. But it definitely deserves a watch.
Another must see that should be on this list is Predestination, with Ethan Hawke.

👍 LIKE this video if you're tired of the same recycled blockbusters!

💬 COMMENT BELOW — Which of these have you seen? And which one are you watching first?

12:45 I watched the lobster. It was weird. Recommend to watch it once. Not more.

The List:

I think we are alone now, The Invasion, In the shadow of the moon, Aniara, Archive, Endor's Game, Seeking a friend for the end of the world, Upgrade. These are very good movies and I liked them I have not seen the others.

— @kaymynkaliel4141

00:00 - Must Watch Intro

00:32 - 15 - I Think We Are Alone Now

every time I seach for Aniara from australia I can find anything about it could u send me a link please

— @RogueNitely

01:25 - 14 - The Invasion

02:24 - 13 - In the Shadow of the Moon

Cheesy 80s b rate movies are better than new big block buster goyslop.

— @dougied3449

03:25 - 12 - Redux Redux

04:16 - 11 - Aniara

There are some I've seen on this list and loved very much and there are a few I haven't but Man From Earth in my opinion deserves the no 1 spot on this list. This movie does challenge some delicate sensibilities but it does it in such a beautiful and heartbreaking way and all by asking "what if?"

— @zebjavid2900

05:12 - 10 - Archive

06:15 - 9 - Vidocq

I've seen Ender's Game (several times) and The Man From Earth. Both are great. The Man From Earth was actually quite good, and I need to watch it again. I've added The Vast of Night to my To Watch list. =D

— @iansterling9589

07:13 - 8 - Possessor

08:16 - 7 - Ender's Game

Aniara was one of the most amazing films I've ever seen. Most DEF should be on this lift.

— @AlphaGeminorum1

09:14 - 6 - The Vast of Night

10:06 - 5 - Seeking a friend for the end of the world

I’ve already seen all of them and I was looking for the Keanu Reeves in front of the gates as well. I really disagree with Clickbait so you’ve just lost a permanent viewer.

— @xcollector_21x

11:07 - 4 - Another Earth

11:58 - 3 - The Lobster

The Canadian end-of-the-world film LAST NIGHT belongs on this list.

— @jamescappio7434

13:01 - 2 - Upgrade

14:09 - 1 - The Man from Earth

Vidocq reminds me of a movie the same golden face plate but it was set in medieval time and they through his spaceship was a dragon, with a knight trying to kill the strange knight/spaceman to get control over the dragon but switching places

— @davidlockey3065

This is not a list of blockbusters. This is a list of sci-fi films that actually meant something. From the haunting post-apocalyptic silence of I Think We're Alone Now and the paranoid alien thriller The Invasion, to the mind-bending time travel of In the Shadow of the Moon and the Swedish space odyssey Aniara — these are films that trusted their audience to keep up. Archive is one of the most underrated AI films ever made. Vidocq is a forgotten neo-noir gem. Brandon Cronenberg's Possessor is body horror sci-fi at its most uncompromising. The Vast of Night captures small-town 1950s mystery with almost no budget and total mastery. Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is one of the most emotionally devastating sci-fi romances ever filmed. Another Earth will break your heart quietly. The Lobster is a dystopian love story unlike anything else in cinema. Upgrade predicted where AI and humanity were heading before anyone was ready to talk about it. And The Man from Earth — written by Jerome Bixby on his literal deathbed, shot in a single room for almost no money — is one of the greatest science fiction films ever made, and almost nobody has seen it.

Whether you're streaming on Netflix, Prime Video, Max, Apple TV+, Disney+, Peacock, Paramount+, Tubi, or Shudder — every single one of these films is worth hunting down tonight.

Most are not Sf

Enders Game was promoted as a teenager movie, but it is only for mature. They understand the message.

The previous wave of sci-fi movies evolved into nowadays science. Real science. Real life "things". There's no such movies anymore.

Upgrade is one of my favorite sci-fi films of all time. Amazing if you haven’t watched it go do it. Do yourself a solid.

@TheFloatingBartender
@

Most modern sci-fis are banal, feel-good garbage. They all seem to look the same and are variations on a common, well-worn theme. And the sound is so poorly recorded and the actors whisper and mumble and there's so much 'music and effects' so I can't tell what they are saying.

@andyhowlett2231

Love the man from earth, been a top movie for me for a long time now.... you would look and think its boring but if you're actually watching and listening and not doom scrolling.... its fantastic .... lobster was weird

@SilkLotus
@

I've seen The Man From Earth, Archive, & Upgrade.

I really liked The Man From Earth. If I'm I remember right, there's 2-3 in the series?

Archive was slow but interesting. Upgrade was badass. Enders Game was really good too.

Nice list. Saw #1 and Lobster, but curious to see others

Loved Enders Game. But it missed a lot of little bits from the book. And they took lots of creative license with it rewriting whole ideas. As a fan of the book series, I liked it, but was also disappointed.

@MisfitMayhemMiniatures

I saw The Lobster years ago. It thoroughly sucked.

@LukeT1

Cloud atlas should be on the list

@vladyslavtrofimov516

Upgrade is a Great movie. Ender's game was good until they re wrote the end totally opposite from the book.

@Shogun459
@

Enders Game!! What a joke!! You just lost me man.

@ArticLover
@

The Lobster was quite a movie. Doing it in complete deadpan, had to be hard. The little skits from the hotel staff were funny, but the one that made me laugh was the spa scene where she pretended to choke on an olive, and he just stared at her and after faking her death looking up and saying we are compatible. 😅
