When do you realize that a company is bad and it’s time to shut it down, or conversely, that a company was good but there’s no longer any point in keeping it going?

Hi! Hey! I’ve run a few test campaigns following your example, and the conversion rate is no higher than 50%. I’m talking about clicks on the Spotify button within the smart link itself. I see that you’re getting around 80%. I’m using a SubmitHub link—could that be why the conversion is so low? Also, how many days into the campaign do you usually start seeing that kind of result?

Hi Andrew! Thanks for your videos—I’ve learned a lot about music marketing. I saw you mention Kashie in one of your videos. I actually built a similar tool (with some extra features) and would love to give you a free premium account in exchange for your feedback.
Would love to hear your thoughts!

do you have a full list of tier 1, 2, 3 and 4 markets? super curious to learn about lower tier markets and how to compliment the tier 1/2
Rn im running ads and doing 16 & 19 cents - which is great. I just wanna drive my artists total monthly listeners to more people and drive visibility. I understand tier 1/2 is prly more sticky but tier 3/4 im sure would be nice for quick wins and helping boost algorithms

Let's see if I understand you correctly. You spent about $300 on ads and got 12,000 streams. If we assume an average of $.004 per stream, thats $48 - a huge loss. But you claim that this can lead to millions of streams. It's been 7 months. How many streams does this song have now?

For any video "Hooks" or reels that you may use for ads, Meta suggests them to be 14 secs. Do you apply by this, or play the whole hook, chorus or verse?

I’m an idiot. I started an ad but it keeps getting rejected because of the final url…it says copyrighted. I’m pasting in my Spotify link but it’s not working any suggestions?

OK bro first of all how are we just gonna ignore the awesome fallout shirt! I literally just subbed because of your shirt
@VaultmanEnterprisesUHHHHH
@eldaster27im a little lost, I do engagement for the campaign but it doesn't let me link feature fm as the smart link what do I do?
@itswaynefrancoDude WTF you're casually mentioning Israel as if its not comitting a Gen0side
@DRUNKBEATZLink at 3:45 doesn’t work 👍
@signposttosanitysoy parecido a ti ,fan de fallout un gran sistema modular y muchos aparatos jejejejejjejejej ,saludos
@nomelocreo1979Was it a an reels & story ad? Or what placements
@marshboayHi Andrew, thanks for all the valuable insights but why not use Traffic especially link clicks instead of engagement?
@alanfranklinIs it worth running a campaign for presaves. I’m new to this and ran an ad that didn’t effectively drive people to my Spotify. I now made an ad to push people to my landing page that hosts my presave among other streaming platforms. I’m hoping it gets me some saves and also some streams
@BxRISzNSaw a Fallout shirt, stayed 🥶
@xorenyt12000? I get 1% of that my first week :-/
@janwilliammusicI take it that 1 stream = 1 conversion. Even if we earn $0.004 per stream on Spotify (Which we do not, it's closer to $0.0034), we are talking about $4.10 for 1,100 streams.
Now, if you got 1,100 optin leads/fans and 100 of them purchased an album for $10 each, $1,000 less $300 = $700. That is good business.
However, there is no way you are going to convince me that spending $300 to earn $4.10 is good business. That is UTTER GARBAGE!!!
This is so valuable for DIY artists learning to run their own ads
@tobebuildsHi Andrew, been following your gems since 2019... you have insightful videos on the structure of these campaigns which we are immensely grateful for but do you think you could do a video on optimization timeline too? Like I know how Jend optimizes his campaigns during the first three days and then a week. Would be interesting to see how you go about deciding what ad sets to turn off and how you scale the ads. I know Jend duplicates his winning ad sets. Many Thanks eitherway!
@slaeylcettiCan you help me my hypeddit| ads ?
@danikennedyHi. How do I engage you to run ads for me?
@iyanuakinrinade2730Hi... sorry if I misunderstood, but I don't understand how you can claim you reached 12,000 streams in 1 week when your Spotify dashboard shows 9,586 in 28 days... it's confusing. How do you usually analyze the results of the ad? Wouldn't it be appropriate to analyze the source of the monthly listener if the "artist catalog" data was impacted during the ad period?
@adabellatrixbro spent around 300 dollars for the campain ..... after he has 12.000 streams ..... 12.000 x 0,003 = 36 dollars xD
@ChrisBessyHello Andrew is it all organic?
@StmrapsYou always make great videos. Just wonder if I'm releasing an album (which I'm doing Sept 5). Should I make an ad like this and then use different songs instead of different parts of a song, like you usually do. Then Meta might pick the songs that works best. Would that be a good strategy? Or is it better to foucs on one song from the album (even though they are pretty different both in style and genres).
@manovermusicI've been running pretty successful campaigns for my past 4 releases all sitting around .22 CPC. Traffic is mainly from tier 1's and save rate is high, but even then i haven't been able to trigger anywhere close to this level of algorithmic growth. At most its 100 streams from radio on a random day and then back to <10.
I'm sure there is a bunch of different reasons for this, but how can I push my music to get a stronger algorithmic kick? is it just spending more earlier on?
1500 dollars to generate roughly 50k streams is wild. I dropped only 300 and got 40k streams. Is there any explanation for this?
@Burnab73812,000 x 0.003 = $36.
if you're a band, divide by 4 => $9 each.
assume no extra expenses, like extra people to pay other than the band members.
pay taxes, u now have $5.
for a week.
how exactly is 12,000 supposed to be impressive? its like a $20 monthly income (if people listen to the track each week in same numbers)
what am i missing?
Andrew first of all thank u a lot for all the knowledge ur giving out for free and all the transparency i'm sure you'v helped a lot of people, i was wondering about 1 thing if u could provide me with ur take on it, for a small spotify account with bad algorithm do u recommend putting 300$ in ads for playlist with similar artists to try to "fix" it or just promote a single to the right audience and it will get fixed by itself?
@sleepinblades@AndrewSouthworth ... I've "triggered the algorithm" with a recent release, in that suddenly 2 weeks ago our algorithmic plays spiked and over that period have been around 60% of our listeners. What now? Do we try and push even more listeners via ads (or Rise, which we've never tried but are considering rn) and see if that has a cumulative effect? Or just let the algo do its thing?
@stoatmusicDamn seeing 0.28 for tier 1 just like that is willlld. Best I've ever done is 0.45
@TomEmberlyJust for budget comparison I want to tell my case. My last Submithub pitching was quite successful. I got placement in 18 playlists (only 2 rejections), which brought me around 8000 streams in 1 month, and I expect slightly further growth, because track is still featured in most part of playlists.. My budget was only 50$ (in fact around 40$ because of coupons and discounts). But to be objective I didn't get any significant amount of algorithmic plays, only 16%, which means that after the curators remove the track from playlists, there won't be more streams.
@alexdiakonov5218You mentioned WITHOUT discovery mode. Is there a reason you opted out of that on Spotify? I will say, I have left my discovery mode virtually untouched for a while and have noticed a drop off is what is has done for my streams. Curious your thoughts on discovery mode overall and for new releases.
@JulianFulcoPerroni literally duplicated a high performing campaign (0.09c) and replaced the audio on the videos in the campaign. weeks later the cpa is still above 0.50c.......
@jamest3336interest based targeting is now gone, i can no longer target genre audiences but instead "edm fans" ffs meta. constantly breaking their algorithm in favour of AI bullshit. broken UX.
@jamest3336Hi, I have a question: I'm an artist from Germany, making music in German, and wanna build a fanbase in the German-Speaking countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). Does it make sense to run a campaign like this with only these three countries, or do you need to target as many countries as you did in this video for it to be effective? What would be a good strategy in my case? Thanks for your help.
@50NADIE-r8yDidn't you tried conversion ads on YouTube instead Meta? YouTube is more cheaper. Do you know how to do it? Thanks for your info/videos :)
@emigalvantvThanks Andrew!
@RLhardstuckchampHi @andrew awesome your contents. I noticed that when you redirect ads to landing pages such as hypeddit, unfortunately it will open spotify in web navigator mode, for people, disconnected. And we lose around 50% of potential streamers. Do you know any landing page system which ensure to provide deep links to spotify. So that people are in spotify application connected to their account? Thanks a lot
@anzu_makta_officialIf you're paying $300, driving leads to a landing page and got 1,100 optin leads, at $0.27 per lead.....THAT'S GOOD Each lead lead is worth about $1 per month.
But paying $0.27 per stream conversion, when your only being paid about $0.003 per stream IS UTTER GARBAGE!!
@AndrewSouthworth we need you! It appears that Meta stopped letting us target most bands and artists and just grouped them under genre! We need a video discussing this change and what you think we should do.
@lesfrancoeurI used to get 10-30 cents per click in "tier 1" countries, and now I get 80 cents - 2 dollars per click --- I don't understand what happened or if my pixel is busted or what....
@Samtar
