THE MEN'S WORLD CUP IS COMING! This video exists to introduce you to every national team participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and gives you one sentence about each team that you can repeat to sound relatively well-informed. Happy World Cup, despite the FIFA.

Hate to be that guy but his surname is Son, not Min. Its just the way Korean write names

This is a fair analysis of England. Also, it’s amazing how the FIFA World Cup has been made even more corrupt than it already is simply by being in Trump’s USA. A Somalian referee and the Mexico football team have already been denied VISAs.

No American knows ball like John Green. He “gets” it. Supporting a lower league side will do that to you!

I appreciate that you referred to it as the “men’s World Cup.” Not many folks are that thoughtful.
@go_tobannI have never felt more excited about being a spaniard
@patrirm5253Thank you for this
@dereklush9399Cant believe i finally got a Portugal reference in a John Green video and it's about Cr*stiano R*naldo :(
@sofiasilva2315I'm skipping this World Cup, silently (=in vain) protesting the off the charts corruption.
@EnoVarmaBrazilian here: You have more faith in us than we do
@ajaviskThe US wins
@danjones4916John Green = Yay
This world cup = Nay
U.S.: Hope is eternal ... And teams over perform on home soil.
@karlsenula9495Also do you know how many U.S. players had agents trying to make deals behind the scenes for placement? No wonder the coach didn’t care how they found out
@sunshinemagicalrainbowunic4004He doesn’t dislike them he dislikes how America plays football. It’s a white sport for the wealthy thanks to pay to play - which is why we will never be competitive. And yes that goes for the women too. As the rest of the globe catches up it will continue to struggle to grow the sport for girls and women. By the way just like the males the females are never trained here and always come from wealthy families. Sad and what a loss. And nation this size has corporatized the sport of “soccer” and left us with 1 male player and a bunch of females that have all been trained to play every position like linebackers, except the keepers, and fed 100x more than any other nations teams combined. Emma Hayes is trying but she’ll get players trained elsewhere and not even look to the states
@sunshinemagicalrainbowunic4004The Netherlands is just so good at... consistently being anywhere from 8th to 2nd best 😢
@StepwaveMusicAs a scotland fan, I can definitively say that losing Wee Billy Gilmour (although sad) won't affect how much we score 😄⚽
@jamiesonsimpson5405So... Hank Green is also an expert on football, that does not surprise me, and also... AGUANTE ARGENTINA LOCO!! (And Colombia, wanna see those guys at least in semis)
@brankoaimeIs it just me who had no idea John followed football?
@sahilchettri160i never care about any sportsball, im here for the world cup
@patriciacorreia7647$500 that "someone" says we should cancel the rest after the US gets knocked out
@MatchaMakesThingsjust cause we have "universal healthcare" doesn't mean its good - Canadian
@asiancanadian1584When you say the "vast majority of teams will make the knockout rounds", don't you mean exactly half of the teams?
@green727The only things I know about soccer are what I learned from Ted Lasso and whatever John talks about here and on the pod, but I enjoyed this video immensely. I'm sure I won't watch any of the World Cup, but I'll be pulling for Ecuador, the country of my study abroad, in the background.
@MadelineWilson611THE BEAUTIFUL GAME IS HERE!! RAAAAAAAH
@KasonWhitsellJust a quick note to say that I watched this entire video & enjoyed all of it it while failing ever to find any of it pertinent or even interesting to me
@danielquinn8694Where is your Argentina jersey John??? ¡¡¡¡CAMPEONES DEL MUNDO!!!!
@Lucia-lo4qlI get bad vibes when Americans call it "football." It's fine I guess, but it just reminds me of hipsters in like 2010 who like soccer because they think it makes them interesting.
@lrba5524I'm sorry did I hear 73 year old futbol player??????
@elaineshiffer6929OMG all my simulations have Ecuador losing to France, it doesn't matter where they meet in the know-outs. But I am hopefull they meet at the quarter finals, that would be a great milestone.
@jonathanherrera9956turkey picture is so outdated im crying lol
@jakobendThanks for sharing this, learned a lot.
@ЕкатеринаИгоривна-ъ6зI propose a ban on using pre-World Cup friendlies as barometers for anything. This is what the players are thinking in those matches: "DON'T GET INJURED! DON'T GET INJURED! DON'T GET INJURED! DON'T GET INJURED! DON'T GET INJURED! DON'T GET INJURED!". Nobody is gonna run hard, tackle hard, press hard, do risky take-on's, get stuck in 50/50 contests... they all just want to have a bit of a run, stretch their legs and call it a day.
@posteador6:07 John is so freaking pleased with himself.
@JustinWooThe last time hopes were so low here in Uruguay, it was 2010 in South Africa and we know how well that turned out for us, so maybe this year it'll be the same? A GIRL CAN DREAM
On the other hand the Uruguayan team chose Cancun/Playa del Carmen in Mexico as their base training center so at least they'll come back home with a gorgeous tan
Also: cheers for calling it the men's world cup, and not calling yourself an american but a USian.
Thanks for helping me with my picks John! 😂❤
@cailinanneBRAZIL MENTIONED unfortunately in the correct spot
@Wesyan1999Cheers from Brazil!
@eufontanellaI'm excited for the World Cup, too. Let's hope petulant man-baby, Trump, doesn't ruin it.
@ivandubinsky1857John, keep an eye out for Ryan Gravenberch of the Dutch Squad
In my opinion the best midfielder to come out of our coveted Ajax Youth program (Dit is mijn club, mijn ideaal!) since his now partner in crime on the mid field Frenkie de Jong. At 24 years of age now slightly seasoned with a few solid seasons at.... yes.... again....Liverpool, I'm convinced he is ready to have his big breakout tournament.
I'm expecting his contributions behind Malen, Gakpo and hopefully Brobbey (though Depay could still be the top choice to start) to be absolutely electric this tournament.
So..... the 1 sentence thing was just an idea
@federboyMon the Scotland
@EM-jl1nbLove u honorary Ecuadorian John Green
@darkarcadesI will be cheering against America
@michaelfortanely5715I appreciate the word bubble fun for those of us who have no I dea what you are talking about. 🎉
@jdubsmooreSo...your saying we have a chance!
@garythompson8553I hate FIFA and am sad about the uS hosting, but great football is superb!
@whitefluffydogsBosnia and Herzegovina also have one of the best GK from the Bundesliga! 🇧🇦
@Syncronyma european team certainly seems the most likely to win, i'm going with the netherlands or spain. I do like scotland but i don't see them going past quarters at most. and i don't really think argentina can win again. (also I'm Chilean so they're my sworn enemies) I would like to see mexico go far, but idk. I also like morocco, they did great last time. Haiti beat Chile and inherited our cursed spotand will probably get kicked out by Brasil
