13:00 cellulite is not even connected to being overweight...like...even skinny people have body fat and can have cellulite it has to do with how the fat that's naturally occurring under the skin sits there...like...the only way to not have that underskin fat is to be a mummified dead body...I still had a round bum and thighs and cellulite when I was unwell and weighted 42kg........

I’m a 22 year old guy who has struggled with anorexia/bulimia for the past 6 years. These years have been the darkest and loneliest time of my life. Not only has my body been torn down but all of my relationships are in shambles. I want to thank you for making this video to bring awareness to the disgusting lies that Hollywood has been trying to tell everyone about their bodies. I hope there can be a day when no one has to be shamed for what they look like.

Human! These movies were insane. I didn't watch "The Devil Wears Prada" until I was 30 and I am glad I didn't because who knows what kind of damage it would have done had I watched it when I was younger. The whole film was pushing that a size 0 is the ultimate standard of beauty. When I was in high school I weighed 90 pounds soaking wet and I STILL wasn't a size 0. And looking back at pictures now, I looked sickly skinny. I just don't understand why so many people like that film. Like you mentioned, it doesn't even send a good message at the end. I was so annoyed at the end where the guy mentions something about her being a size 6 and she answers back"4" like the only reason she was valuable now was because she lost weight. Disgusting.

I'm a man, so the beauty standards are much lower (xd), but as a gay man I do find it difficuld to date just becouse my body type is just average. I've never let that bother me, but it's astoishing as to how media has affected everyone's brains to just think that being not skinny or musular is just fat. You must have watched DWP once many years ago, I need to point out some things:

Andy didn't fail at obtaining the HP manuscript, it's the opposite, she gave 3 copies, 2 for the twins and one for Miranda (one of the iconic scenes, she was really impressed). Miranda got upset because Andy couldn't get her a flight so that she could see her daughters' recital, she was mean as a Boss, but as a mother was always trying to do anything for her twins. The weather was crazy that night, so nothing was flying, and that's why Andy couldn't make it happen, and Miranda said the fat line bc she was the only person who wasn't extremely thin, but obviously wasn't true.

Also, Miranda didn't take Andy to Paris instead of Emily due to getting thin because in that case, Emily would've been the one going. She chose Andrea because she proved to be ambitious and had a motivation to change for the better, she stopped mocking the fashion world and took her job seriously, and even let Miranda know about how she was gonna be betrayed by Irv, Jacqueline and Christian. Her Boss helped her get her dream job, becoming a journalist, despite having seen Andy throw her phone at that fountain when she had fired people for less.

HUMAN I don't know if it is just a Hollywood thing fully because I am now over weight but there is many factors to that One being I was put on way to much medication that caused me to be . But My Family has always been pretty judgmental and when I started to gain weight my Dad started making fun of me. So Yes Hollywood is very bad but I don't know if My Dad was paying attention the woman in Hollywood and all of that.I guess I never thought about that but I always wonder why All Actresses were so thin and how come no one had boobs? I thought people liked those? Yet In Hollywood there was like None ever? Unless of course your over weight. I am just going from a shallow stand point here I am not saying that having big boobs makes someone have character either. Just never understood why they were all found to be attractive when I know most people if they are gonna go by looks its nice boobs butts and thighs? So yeah I don't know where Hollywood got that. Is the norm honestly. And we can look back in history Normally men liked bigger women because it meant status and health. Also The Goddesses where not skinny. As For myself I don't believe beauty is measured in how someone looks to being with. But Yeah Hollywood is just sad and evil that is all.

Here is my uniformed take on it.

The idea is an interesting one. Arguably it is a good one within the right context.

So Hal sees the girl beautiful because of her kindness etc. He doesn't see her size.

That is lovely. That is beautiful. That would make a good romantic film.

Unfortunately they wanted to make a comedy. How do you make a comedy about that? It's Bridget Jones all over again.
She feels fat she feels her size is stopping her, holding her back.
How do you make a feeling funny?

With Shallow Hal they went too far. In a way they had too.

As l previously said him finding her beautiful because of kindness etc is beautiful.

If she had been a couple of pounds heavier the joke doesn't work it's still beautiful. You could believe he wouldn't think it's bad. If she were "chubby" it would be the same. The only thing they could do is literally go big or go home. Make her really big so people would laugh at how can he not see that? How can he possibly think she is beautiful? She's huge!

Having decided they were going to go for it they had to commit and go in to the extreme (see the diagonal boat scene or breaking chair) and dehumanise her make her an object of ridicule. The same with him. He can't be just a really nice guy who sees tje beauty in her, oh no he has to be seen as blind, stupid delusional.

This wasn't a romantic film, it wasn't a rom-com. It was a comedy. Let's laugh at these two losers. So delusional and stupid not to see the world and people as we see it.

And now Love Actually. A film l actually find dull.

This was her first film. She had just been killed off in the biggest soap opera in the UK at the time called Eastenders.

At that time she was big. Extremely popular as "Tiffany Mitchell" women liked her, girls wanted to be "Tiff", boys and men fancied her. She was always in the papers and Magazines, she got a record contract, had a big Number One hit single.
Martine was the girl of the moment.

So when she is in the film she is supposed to be an "ordinary girl" not one that you look at and think she's someone special, sexy, hot, noticeable.
Not easy to do as Martine is a beautiful woman. They made comments about her supposedly being fat, having big thighs to in a way de-sexualise her. De-Tiffany her.

Love Actually is a British film, predominantly British cast, British humour likely to appeal to and be watched by the Brits.

I don't think much thought was put in to how others around the world would see it and interprete things.

Bridget Jones Diary started life as an anonymous newspaper column in which the writer would discuss her life and so would say she wasn't able to get a bf, relationships, her life in general including how she say her body through her eyes which was "I am fat" a common feeling by people of all genders even if they aren't.

The novel and Bridget in the film continues that. So to get the viewers to understand what Bridget feels, the other characters have to maje comments. It would be impossible to do that if they were to think it only. So unfortunately as you rightly pointed out as you watch the film you the viewer are being subconsciously told yes Bridget is fat, she must be otherwise why would people say that?

As unfair and unpleasant as it is. I do think their hands were tied a bit.
Had the film just been called Bridget Jones. It would have been different. The fact it's a diary, Bridget's thoughts, opinions, beliefs is a factor.
Usually when a person is speaking in a more journal stating facts. This did happen that did happen in films it is easier. It's more exposition of truth not opinion.

I think I have to defend the movie "The Devil Wears Prada" here. To be clear: I did not like it. I also have read the book the movie is based on and hated it. The characters are actually supposed to be these toxic anorexic snobs. At the end of the book the protagonist has to choose between morality and her career. Even though she makes the right choice, her boyfriend breaks up with her. He is disgusted that she even considered otherwise. TBH I have read the book first, so that might have influenced the way I perceived the movie, but the book was very clear about its message. The boss and her pretentious employees are toxic with toxic idiologies and habbits. The reaction you had, was the reaction you were supposed to have.

I still think Andie being fat and all was satire, and her revamp gave her confidence first and foremost. The ending not being about "accepting her as she is" is just because that's not the movie's point, imo (and I thought that back in the 2000s, I mean, compared to how appalled I was by the humour in "Bridget Jones"... idk, the Devil Wears Prada was refreshing. I completely agree, but I think (I might be wrong) that the only reason people were acting like Regina George was fat now even though she wasn’t fat is because they couldn’t get Rachael McAdams fat enough in limited time, especially since she would have to get skinny again for the premiere afterwards and there probably wasn’t enough time for that whole process. The way the press went after Kate Winslet in the late 1990's, claiming she was too 'fat' for Titanic was ridiculous too. She's said in interviews that Leo helped her through it, assuring her there was nothing wrong with her size. HUMAN.

The women Daniel cheats with on Bridget is his American girlfriend. Bridget was the side piece because no one knew about Daniel's relationship in the states, so he could sleep around in the UK. If Bridget knew about this or anyone in the office, besides Kenneth ,who also worked closer with the American branch of the company,she would never started this relationship with him.
He was properly embarrassed to be seen with her in public, so he never did it. And Bridget was okay with that in the beginning.

Before your YouTube channel, I just never realized what the early 2000's did to me. It blew my mind that my much younger little sisters had zero issues with their weight while at their age I thought I was fat. In hindsight I was clearly so thin. Didn't give it much thought, figured that was normal being-a-girl stuff. Wow, so crazy. Thank you for opening our eyes to the crazy influence Hollywood has on us humans.
