World's Fastest Train – Fast Faster Fastest
Video Overview & Insights
The French ‘Train à Grande Vitesse’, known as the TGV, regularly reaches speeds exceeding 300 kilometres per hour. In special tests the train has been pushed to 574.8 kilometres per hour making it the fastest on earth. This film explores how the TGV was made possible through a series of four historic engineering breakthroughs. We analyse the inner workings of four iconic trains, including George Stephenson’s record-breaking Rocket and Japan’s revolutionary Bullet Train. Each features a major technological innovation that allowed engineers to build quicker trains. through the development of powerful engines, aerodynamic design, and innovations that keep trains firmly on the tracks. Using computer generated animation we reveal the incredible stories behind these machines and the inventions that have enabled them to get faster and faster. Four ingenious leaps forward that enabled trains to evolve from the world’s first steam passenger train, into the fastest train on the planet.
thank you very much for mentioning Japanese Shinkansen 新幹線 !!!☺
00:00 – Introduction

Since grade 3 I have loved this series but my favorite was the airport episode. Any way ypu guys could upload it pls!!!
35:28 – Safety – TGV
Episode from the “Big Bigger Biggest” documentary series exploring the engineering breakthroughs that have enabled us to develop some of the largest structures in existence.
This documentary really shows how insanely far train engineering has evolved. The speed, precision, and technology behind these machines are honestly mind-blowing. Hard to believe humans built something this fast while still keeping it stable and safe. Fantastic visuals and pacing too.

and here in germany... we are glad a train even departs
@MrHayliOverhead wires sucking enough power for a small town while France falls deeper into the dept pit. Why is France throwing so much money and time into sport car trains when they should be increasing automation of their industrial sectors to keep up with the amount of fast growing pensioners putting increasing load on the younger generations?
@mrMacGooverSo the tgv, had the same bogey arrangement, as designed by the British, in the 1970s, but we gave away.... hmm interesting 🤔
@MarksMatchboxMemoriesmarkhuckefun fact: the Rocket was such an Engineering masterpiece that it was aired on a special Thomas and friends move: Thomas and the King of The Rails.
@IsaacFerguson-g3kyoutube is geting bad every day f%%%ck
@opostel3316TGV - JUST ANOTHER BULLET TRAIN CLONE !!!
The French TGV, German ICE, Spanish AVE, Eurostar, and the Italian offerings are ALL the direct result, of the technologies designed in Japan in the late 1950's and early 1960's as you would know if you had attended the World Railway Engineering Annual Conferences, specifically in 1957. Where the Japanese stated, they were about to start building a 400 mile long Tokyo to Osaka new super railway line for trains that would eventually reach design speeds in excess of 175mph, with introductory speeds of 125mph. That this new Railway would be totally controlled from a new Computerised Signalbox in Tokyo. And introduce new Cab Signalling methods "Moving Block" technology. Would have both Earthquake & Snowfall override safety measures. With trains leaving at 10 minute intervals. And this new railway would be complete and in Public operation intime for the Tokyo Olympics in 1964 !
The Worlds Collected Railway Engineers fell about laughing, and accused the Japanese of having been watching too many of their own "Killer B" class Horror movies (Godzilla springs to mind). They were told it was impossible and not likely within 50 years. Indeed much of the World including Japan was still deep in the "Steam era". But as promised the famous "Shinkansen" (New Super Express) was ready for the Tokyo Olympics in 1964, and it was an American Journalist who coined the phrase "Bullet train" whilst waiting for one of the new trains to take him to the Olympics. And that name has stuck ever since.
THE UNIVERSITY OF BULLET TRAINS !!!
More importantly it was quite clear to the Japanese, having built the Worlds first Modern "Super High Speed Railway", and developed all the new technologies including the trains to complete this new system. That they (the Japanese) should NOW begin selling all these new technologies. And the most likely customers were of course the leading Railways across Europe. So JNR (Japanese National Railways as was in 1964) set up a Railway Engineering University in Northern France, specifically for this purpose. And indeed many of Europe's leading railway Engineers attended. Indeed it is who did not attend that reveals the amusing truth ! No American Railroad Technical Engineers have ever attended, and even today the USA still has nothing that equates to a "Super High Speed train or Railway". And even the latest Amtrak Acela will NOT be running in public service on the East Coast Corridor (the only mainline Electrified route in the USA) at more that 149mph, contrary to the Propaganda being banded about. Because that line has to carry all types of trains including freight, which means it is unsuitable for any train to exceed 149mph, as of course it still uses traditional Trackside Signals !
SAFETY
NO Passenger has yet been killed on any of the Bullet train lines since the first opened in 1964, and the Japanese Shinkansen network carries many Millions more Annually than the French TGV network !!!!
BUT many people including passengers HAVE been Killed on the French TGV network !!!! So Japan is so far the oldest and SAFEST "Super High Speed Network" in the WORLD. And the most reliable also by a large Margin. Because even during the first two weeks of operation during the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. The TOTAL lateness of ALL the HUNDREDS of trains operated, over the month, came to no more than SEVEN MINUTES. No Railway In the World can achieve such reliability figures, and that sort of precision is still an ongoing daily event, across the whole Shinkansen network, over SIXTY YEARS ON !!!!
REFERENCE: I am an ex Senior British Railways Qualified Mechanical & Electrical Engineer. And I've worked for numerous Railways around the World including Amtrak in the USA, and three Japanese Railway Companies in the past !!!
so two guys who are rarely celebrated or even named are basically responsible for the industrial and technological revolutions. crazy. how is Stevenson not a household name?
@AEOH3XIt can be faster than a plane, but safer???
@richardrombouts1883You’ve heard of German engineering and American engineering….. now get ready for French 🤣
@Pluhhh-WalkI hate having to point this out. But the AGV is not some next generation TGV, the AGV serves in Italy. Any tie between the TGV and the AGV is simply because their manufacturer Alstom made both of them.
@lukethomas.125Its great to see the infrastructure of the modern world!
It also sucks to see the United States deteriorate due to corruption in politics!
GO USA!! 😥😥😥
From 1972 we ha e maglev 10.000 Mph
@MKk-f9hGreat video thanks
@LanceRudyThe first disaster will kill this game its madnees man doesnt need to travel at theese speeds one mistake and you have a disaster
@stevenkillington5041came across This Channel watched 3 vids consecutively why lesss likes and views on such well compiled Docs or they are reposted saved the bustle of watching individual short videos felt like I have watched everything else where but still impressed as the are well versed and compiled
@brianwaithaka8152🎉. 😮.
@PathmaPathma-y3cBig Bigger Biggest ❌
Fast Faster Fastest ✅
Lol Itll be called CBAGBX
@MikeJones-wo1dcWith all due respect, what the French are doing is way fast but nothing close to the Chinese, working with trains designed for speeds exceeding 1000km/h
@Harald-MacGerhardEuropean fastest train is only nothings compares with China fastest train even media loves hiding the truth abouts European ancients technologies. With short range, with limited used only inside France and nearing country. 300kmh is only a big propaganda with tiny impression.
@IrrissHenderson-sz4clUnfortunately when it comes to train speed.... Japan still dominates the sector
@lorditachi-49:25 Woah! Turbocharged!
@bonibroco1076I wonder what the next GV could be, the BGV?
@MobyTheMerpup1852In india corruption is on speed
@azharparekh8786I come from Switzerland. We have the slowest express train in the World: The Glacier Express. The maximum speed is 24 mph
@mnlwrnrBefore you comment "Actually..."
1. This video was produced in 2011 so anything made after that won't be in this video doesn't apply.
2. China's Maglev that debuted in 2008 is faster, but it's still a maglev, nto a train on wheels. Japan's maglev won't be in service until 2027, and it's still a maglev.
3. China's CRH and Fuxing trains and Germany's DB ICE go faster than this at 350 kmph. but they also came out after 2011, so this video isn't going to mention it.
So I guess the mag lev train is just too expensive to build yet since you’d have to tear out all the track and poles and just make the mag track.
@Chris-qq6gcI love the way the man narrates. What is his name?
@martinsimwaka4895As you need to arrive 4 hours before to your flight and need to drive into the very downtown afterwards, at your aim, a train might be much faster, than a plane anyway.
@LeicaM11tgv isn't the fastest BUT the fastest train is the LO maglive series in japan 🗾
@hendratanayasusilatama1608Can you please do the bullet train in the next one ? 🚂
@humzaanwar1211When was this show published?
@einsiolIt didn't mention the Eschede Disaster of 1998
@rdrogelFinally the British version of this
@G36645Does it pay for itself, or is it taxpayer funded?
@grahamgillard3722What a load of rubbish, it's already been done, by china and in the first place by the Japanese.
@metricstormtrooperGreat episode
@giannidcenzoJapan's train far surpassed these long ago.
@AnupomAGrc ventilator bg
@ЯниславДелчевPeople, Maglev DOES NOT HAVE WHEELS. Of course it can go faster!
@IluminousOne-9.7.212.12 12.12
@ЯниславДелчевNo mention of Maglev or magnetic levitation trains
@ph11p3540What a shame Britain fell so embarrassingly far behind the rest of the world when it started the railway ball rolling 200 years ago!
@nigelkthomas9501How about maglev trains lo series in Japan is a maglev that can go up to 603 kph or 317 mph
@开心王元26:03 So they built a silencer for a train?
@ziggybowman6875
