After all the destruction of Iranian military capabilities, which the US and Israel boast about, I wonder why the US is still at war? Unlike Israel, whose goal is not to overthrow the regime, but chaos in which it will occupy more territory under the guise of a so-called buffer zone.

Kharg Island is, substantially, irrelevant.
A single US destroyer, just one, could blockade all Iranian oil exports, from the Persian Gulf.
So what is the point of taking Kharg Island?
Is it to blockade Iranian oil exports? No, obviously not. It's not necessary to take Kharg Island, to blockade Iranian oil exports.
Right now, every last drop of oil that goes out of the Persian Gulf, that's coming from Iran, Is allowed to do so, by the United States, because blockading that oil, would cause oil prices to rise even further.
So again, I come back to my basic point. What is the reason to occupy Kharg Island.
There isn't one.
Now, will Trump do it anyway? Maybe.
Why?
Because he has nothing better to do.
He is ***trying**" to create leverage over Iran, and right now he lacks that leverage.
The operative word is "trying".
It's quite possible, that Kharg Island, is not the target at all.
Maybe the target, is the Straight of Hormuz itself.

One thing we've gotten out of the strikes last summer and now these strikes this year: Chinese and Russian radar is mediocre at best. The Iranians claim they shut down precisely one JASSM. That's actually dispute it. Their claim is one. That's not good. People are sweating in China right now. Kind of a replay of the 91 eviction of Saddam from Kuwait. That made both North Korea and China very scared because the Iraqi military was similarly calibrated, with more veterans, and they were evicted so easily thanks to technology change that occurred at the end and after of the Vietnam war

@tomaaron6187You could blow up the island and stop Iran's use of it, you take the island it does the same thing but you have not destroyed the facility. Then negotiations start, we will get back to you in December on the straight, and no opening till you leave the island.
