Crazy, my spidey senses went up around the criticism for trickle down economics, by the end it seemed like a total cry-baby video against capitalism and then gaslighting fascism as our inevitable doom because what... we are not communist enough?!

"Boo hoo, because captilism..." Yet you are a "grass roots" video producer? Sounds like you are doing great achieving your own version of the American dream where you have the freedom to create your own entity and attempt to make an income from it.

How I achieved the American dream.

I am smart and I didn't require college to affirm that. I taught myself linear programing. I learned to read well and to use math well, something that eludes about 80% of American high school grads. By mostly avoiding college I not only saved a lot of money, I started my career earlier. 2/3 of American college attendees never even get a job that requires a diploma.

I married young. Me and my spouse shared a compulsion to speak truth to power. More often than not, coupled with strong ethics, that gets you ahead.

I regard having lots off money and spending same to be work, so I never self-sabotage by spending too much. If my basic needs are taken care of, I am happy and grateful.

I got lucky getting a $1M house for a $50K mortgage and $14K down.

I automated my job searches so I never had to worry about having a job.

I retired better off than 90% of Americans, despite starting adulthood poor.

The American Dream is OVER, and it has been over for at least 40 years. If someone cannot be a simple gardener (someone that simply goes around town and cuts lawns) and buy his or her single-family home, complete with a front and back lawn, the American Dream is OVER.

The American Dream is alive and well. It’s just been redefined. The real dream is living successfully paycheck by paycheck and keeping credit card debt under $3K. Oh not to mention being able to pay taxes for everything. Just redefined. I’m sure that’s what our sociopathic government says or will start saying eventually. It’s a shame I can’t be among the <1% of wealthy crooks who believe the White American Dream from the 1950s is alive and unchanged.

People look at me and think I'm doing fine because I have a job and a car,but they don't see that one medical bill could wipe me out. I'm not stable. I'm just balancing carefully.😂

Is the American dream really achieveable?

Much of the problems of average Americans today can be linked back to corporations, specifically, their consolidation of power and wealth over the last 50 years. We have increasingly less competition because businesses and industries consolidate into anywhere from a dozen to 1 massive mega conglomerates, working together to create function monopolies, duopolies, or oligopolies. This is how labor unions can get broken up, how costs can, and have greatly exceeded the rise inflation sets the price of a commodity at, how regulations for various protections related to ethics or the environment can get lifted, and how our government can become complacent to societal issues due to money.

The goal really is to get the right kind of government in (particularly younger generations), and then have that government fight for the supermajority of Americans, for instance, anti trust investigations and action, all so that we may once more have the possibility of attaining the American dream

There is no American dream. The large majority of Americans will never realize there American dream. The American dream is a crock of shit made up to fool the masses into joining a capitalist system to cheat them out of their hard earned wages. When only 2% of Americans control all the banks, land, industry, fiscal power it's easy to screw the less fortunate out of their money, repossess their homes, raise the taxes etc. Capitalism is really economic "Shy Lock". 😢😢😢

Any system that goes too far will end up in corruption, whether it is capitalism, socialism, or any other ism.

Dude, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Spewing nonsensical socialist fearmongering propaganda to impressionable young people and disguising it as socialist hope. You should be ashamed of yourself. Do yourself a favor and research the "National Socialist German Workers' Party". What you are spewing is the exact same nonsense they spewed to the desperate people of Weimer Republic in the 1930s. Unbelievable !

It's funny tbh. A country which Has the reserve Currency of the world in the world's wealthiest time can't provide it's measly 200Million citizens a decent standard of living. What an absolute joke. Doesn't it tell you anything about full blown capitalist economy? We have to have a mixed economy where we push every private corporations we can to be State owned Enterprises. Not all but everything we realistic can.

We need muscular enforcement of the guardrails required for capitalism to reach its promise: Estate taxes, strong, anti-trust enforcement, progressive tax rates, campaign finance reform, eliminating the structure that makes it more profitable to be a financial intermediary than to manufacture.

The American Dream died between 1968 and 1975. From the death of industrial age until The free trade agreement and the loss of many many jobs in the United States. Many towns became ghost towns and people had no jobs and had lost hope. Now the country is almost lawless. The news agencies have split the country in half. An open border which let millions of people in did not help the situation at all. There is no more America. I thank God I got to live during the time when there was one.

The American dream? More like the American nightmare.
Why did it say at the start that the Americans can have two holidays in a year when they’re only allowed 2 weeks of holidays a year?

@sb6678

The american dream was invented by edward bernays. It was mainly promulgated in the average mind post war GI bill outbuild in the 40"s-70's.

In the year 2000 an essay was published An Underground History of American Education. John Taylor Gatto - he explains this better than anyone I have read

or listened to.
